She doesn’t have any particular name. Her parents, given permission by their companions, named her Naledi, pronounced nah-led-i which means ‘star’. Personally, she doesn’t mind what she is called, and has not really used that name since leaving home. Skylar, her mistress, calls her many different names, none of which are permanent. She tends to follow along with the name she is currently being called, introducing herself as such or responding to that name.Physical Information

Physical Description
Naledi is about 5 ft 7 and quite slim to reflect her cat form. She has a certain grace and deliberateness about her and her movements can only be described as feline. She has dark skin and high-cheek boned features framed by long, wild, reddish-brown hair and adorned by large amber cat eyes. When in human form she retains her cat form’s pointy incisors, exquisite sense of smell and hearing, and developed night vision, as well as a very good sense of balance and space.
Naledi’s cat form (Abyssinian Cat) is of normal size for a domestic cat. She has a solid, reddish-brown coloring flecked in some places with lighter hairs, and large, amber eyes.
Character Concept
As a cat Kelvic, Naledi tends to take on many feline traits. Her mannerisms are catlike in nature. She enjoys curling up in front of fires or in spots of sunlight and is quite lazy during the day, preferring to be active at night. She has no particular aversion to water, although she avoids becoming fully submerged in it because she finds the sensation unpleasant. She is aware of her natural sensuality and will flaunt it shamelessly. She is not fazed by nudity.
As a person, Naledi was previously loud, outgoing, carefree and slightly vain. Ever since she was taken in by Skylar, though, she has become more quiet and withdrawn inside herself. She’s not shy – she doesn’t hide herself or cower. She is just unsure. Because she dislikes initiating or taking part in conversations, she has very little contact with anybody other than Skylar. This has made her semi-feral. She tends to stare a lot at people with her unnerving amber cat eyes, having almost forgotten most proper social conventions. She can never decide whether she wants to run from or attack strangers.
Her bond with Skylar was accidental, and as such she had mixed feelings toward her. Naledi almost hates her mistress, fears her, and at the same time has a driving need to love and serve her. This contrast is already taking its toll on her mind, especially because of the abusive way Skylar messes with her mentally. More than anything, she wants to earn Skylar’s approval and, eventually, love.
She is easily bored, especially by knowledge she deems unnecessary to survival, and used to spend her time going on adventures. Lately, however, she has no time for adventures, and is too frightened to leave Skylar to seek them out. When learning something that interests her, though, she is very attentive and learns quickly.
Naledi isn’t a particularly caring kind of person, and the only person she really cares for is Skylar – and even then, she doesn’t really want to. She tends to see all other people as distractions or wastes of time, or just more ways she could end up getting killed. By nature she is solitary and half wild. This is probably because she hasn’t come into close contact with anybody other than her family and Skylar.
Naledi is very easily distracted by fast-moving objects in both human and cat form. In both forms, she has to restrain herself from instinctually chasing and capturing anything that runs away from her. She is fascinated by flashing lights and magic tricks. These cat-form-induced weaknesses are secrets she will never draw attention to, but doesn’t really attempt to hide. She just kind of hopes nobody will notice. In addition to this, she shows an unhealthy fascination for fire, often staring at it for long periods of time and attempting to touch and hold it. Burns never deter her – she hopes that one day she’ll be able to touch it without being hurt.
As a cat, Naledi has slight difficulty controlling the animal instincts that sometimes threaten to overwhelm her, like the primal fight or flight instinct or the random urge to chase and pounce on fast-moving objects. She has the same basic senses as a normal domestic cat. Like most animals, she can sense changes in the weather and sense when danger is afoot, but only in cat form (she loses this heightened sense of clairvoyance when she shifts to human). Although Naledi isn’t allowed to be in her cat form, she acts more feline than ever, almost in rebellion.
Naledi believes strongly in reincarnation. This belief wasn’t passed on to her or taught to her- she simply believes it because it seems like the most likely thing to happen. She believes that if she dies, she will be reborn again as a Kelvic, to serve another master for generations. Because of this, she isn’t particularly afraid of the oblivion of death – rather, she’s frightened of what it might feel like to die, to have your body, mind and soul forcibly separated, and the pain it undoubtedly brings. She has grown afraid of her Nuit master in this respect - Skylar separated from his own body long ago and, in doing so, mutilated his soul. Naledi finds this disturbing because she believes the mind, body and soul should always remain connected with each other until death.
Character History
Pre-Creation: Naledi was born to two Kelvic parents. Her parents were the companions of an Akalak (Jyren) and his Konti wife (Sitara) living in Riverfall, and consequently fell in love. Her parents raised her for two years. Although she would have been able to leave at one year of age, her mother Arietta, naturally a worrier (she was a sparrow Kelvic), kept her home for another year. Arietta argued that there were so many things that Naledi could be taught and besides, she made herself useful around the house, anyway. Her father Kalev (a wolf Kelvic) taught her how to hunt and make her steps silent. Most of the time, though, young Naledi kept herself busy, preferring to take long walks by herself and practice hunting small animals.
When she turned 2 years old her parents sent her out into the world to find a master to bond to. They understood the driving need she felt to find a normal and gave her their best wishes. Sitara (who had come to see Naledi as a kind of grandchild) gifted her with a beaded necklace that she had made herself from white glass beads. When in cat form, this necklace hangs over her whole chest and across her shoulders like a heavy, intricate collar.
For quite a while she had been travelling, almost always in cat form, hunting for food and sleeping in the odd tree. Her hunting skills are rudimentary and more often than not she goes to sleep hungry. She didn’t know where she would end up and could only wander Mizahar, purposeless and becoming more feral every day.
Post Creation: Travelling for days on end, Naledi eventually arrives in the wilderness of Sylira, malnourished and wild. She sees Pavi Lake from a distance and her thirst drives her toward it. There she met Skylar, an ancient, sociopathic Nuit. A series of events followed and she accidentally bonded with him (an effect of accidental hypnotism). He wasn’t too thrilled, but she was secretly pleased to have finally found someone to bond to. Although the bonding was accidental, Naledi is as devoted to Skylar is if it had been purposeful, but at the same time she despises Skylar as a person and would otherwise have nothing to do with him.
