Sale (Tock)

Postby Nai'shee on July 1st, 2012, 5:11 pm

Tock seemed like she was calculating something for few moments and Nai'shee didn't want to disturb her, so she just stood there. She was observing red-haired woman, who didn't even notice her surroundings when she was concentrating on something. For instance, Nai'shee realized that she lost that passion. Old Nai'shee would now jump around The Docks in happiness. That brought up conversation she had long ago. And she was glad to conclude she was right, University did change her. Was it for the better or worse, she didn't know, but she knew it was step towards her dream and she should be happy for that.

After Tock left without explanation Nai'shee sat besides the boat, gently touching wood it was made of. It was perfectly smooth and it wasn't darkened because of water, except on the bottom. In truth, that guy might have deserved more than hundred gold mizas. She smiled. It was nice having friends like Tock. She was one of the most curious, hard-working, helpful and quick-witted person she knew.

She only proved that by bringing Choppy a while later. She smile, seeing Tock's intention. "Alright", she said with determination, "let's do this". Her Djed went racing to her hands, almost as if it was excited to be active again. She felt fully rested and it was not a problem to use Flux. She coordinated some of Djed into other muscles which would help her to pull boat out. "Move away", she added, gesturing for Tock to make her some space. Boat was on dry in no time and Nai'shee was pretty sure she wouldn't have much problem doing this even without Flux. She overestimated it. However, it was faster like this and it didn't get any unwanted scratches. It took a bit more strength to turn it upside down once it was on ground, but she managed that part too. She took few moments to relax her body.

"It won't be as hard as I thought", she happily informed Tock. "But I hope we won't have to do this again when I wish to use it..."

They proceed to carry the rowboat to Tock's backyard. People were sharing confused sights seeing two womans and animaton carrying almost 200lbs heavy rowboat trough the city. They took side streets to avoid attention or pranks. Nai'shee was really glad when they finally arrived and both her and Tock were tired. Nai'shee was already lying on backyard's ground, as soon as their luggage was safe besides her. "Please tell me that you have something for drink", she said with hand on her forehead. Her muscles were screaming for help and drinking something cold wouldn't really help her, but she wasn't able to think of such a thing at that state.

Sale (Tock)

Tock struggled and groaned, even though she was barely handling any of the weight. Nai had most of it, and her and Choppy were just helping with support and balance. Still, it was awkward for her to keep the grip, and before long her muscles were aching. Her right hand was throbbing in pain, since she didn't want to use Handy on something so heavy. Choppy's metal legs could support his share of the weight, but she didn't think the wooden hand could handle this much load. His grip just wasn't that strong.

By the time they got to the house and set the boat down, her legs and arms were burning, her hand was throbbing horribly, and her body was covered in sweat from the summer heat and the exertion. "When I done puts wheels on 'er," Tock said between gasps for air, "I's gonna make sure 'ey's good fer both land an' water..." She was also going to have to devise a way to work on the boat in her backyard. While much of the work could be done in 'dry dock,' she needed to be able to actually test the wheels in water. She would need to Animate a shovel and a bucket to dig out her back yard and haul in some water to make a little mini-pond...

She plopped down onto her rump, leaning back against the boat to catch her breath. This had been quite a workout.

Thinking of water made Nai's suggestion a good idea. "'Andy," she told her Automaton, "go fetch Mommy some water." The wooden hand obediently crawled around the front of the house and went inside. He was just smart enough for a task like this. He carefully climbed up the door and hopped up and down on the handle to twist it open, then crawled inside, searching around for a moment until he found the waterskin. He wrapped his leather tail around the skin's neck and buckled it in place, then proceeded to slowly drag it outside, his wooden fingers crawling across the ground with the light load.

When he reached Tock she took the skin, and Handy unbuckled himself from it and crawled into her lap. She took a swig of the warm, but still refreshing water, then handed it to Nai.

"Definitely", Nai'shee mumbled, not even noticing that she should thank her for doing so much for her. She was too tired to think about manners, which she didn't consider too necessary with Tock anyways.

Animatons were hell of an useful thing, Nai'shee concluded when Tock sent Handy to bring some water. "Oy, Tock... You're explaining me how those work one day, deal?" She wasn't sure if she wanted to practice one more discipline of magic, and she didn't want the bond Tock had with her animatons, but her curiosity won over common sense. She also noticed she called out for Tock using 'oy'. She didn't want to pick Tock's way of talking, so she made mental note not to like it.

Tock cut her thoughts by offering skin filled with water. She gratefully accepted, drinking thirstily, forcing herself, taking more liquid than her body could stand all of a sudden. She began chocking and drinking again, repeating the process. In the end she spilled some of it over her head, which didn't help much, since it wasn't much water and it wasn't really cold. She prayed to whoever was listening that Tock isn't refreshed and ready to work.

"Any time, Conch," Tock replied. "Oy, when's I goes what fer ta Animate yer boat, ya can come watch, if'n ya want. Shows ya 'ow she's all done. Oy, I could even put part o' yer soul in 'er, if'n ya want..." That might actually be a better idea, in some ways. For one, it would save Tock the emotional pain of having part of her own soul taken away with the boat when Nai sailed off. For another, Nai might have more sailing skills than Tock had, and that knowledge could be valuable to imbed into the boat.

Too sore to continue working at the moment, and realizing she had a lot of preparations to make before she could start on the boat itself, Tock said, "Oy, so, 'at's 'bout all she wrote, aye Conch? Ready ta call 'er a day? Figure what as I'll done get started on her soon 'nough fer ya. Shouldn't take too long, couple o' weeks maybe."

Tock would then say her goodbyes to Nai for the day, and head inside to take a nap, cuddled up with her babies. After being out in the sun all day and spending hours carrying the boat, she was exhausted, and needed to be able to tackle this project with a clear head in a day or two.

"That would be great!", Nai'shee responded, not closely aware what Tock's plan meant. She couldn't imagine how animation worked. She visualized some silly rituals, or simple concentration. She was, however, excited about forthcoming experience. It is going to be new, that's all it took for Nai to like it.

"Definitely!", Nai'shee was glad to agree with that one. She was sure neither Tock nor her were capable of doing a good job now. "When I think about it, I had something planned for tonight..." She had a job to get done, and she was fairly late. This one will have to be completely improvised. She has to be done somewhat past midnight mostly. She sighed. "I completely forgot, tho."

She took few moments to collect herself, before she wished Tock a good evening and left, aware that she is most likely to abuse Flux a bit that day.

From the bright side, she had a boat!
