[The Silver Sliver] An exchange of beliefs? (Valerius)

This guy just bombarded her with questions. It took the girl quite a bit of willpower just to keep herself from lashing out at him physically this time. How dared he insult her and even worse imply that her brother was involved in anything illegal. If he wasn´t someone so important, she would surely have struck at him already.

"I had to have it shortened because these weapons only come in sizes bigger then six feet. And as you can see, I'm not quite -big- enough to wield one of those, now am I?", she spat out, "And if you dare to imply that my brother is involved in anything illegal, I'll rip out that tongue of yours. He is escorting a caravan towards some digsite. I don't know much more. In fact...." The girl grew a little quieter as she said that. "Haven't heard from him ever since he left in fall last year."

The girl had heard of that crazy head of the KRI, but only in whispers and only rumors. None of those were all to... good. It was a place that she'd rather avoid if possible if she had to believe the rumors. This guy was apparently family of her, better to avoid him in the future then.

"I hadn't told you my name and it's probably not worth remembering for you anyway, but... It's Tanjun Vorot. No connections or whatsoever, just an aspiring ebonstryfe soldier. Been working my ass off to get accepted for more then a few years already. Unlike some lazy people, I intend to work for my position and I'm not above anything to get it.", she said. Tanjun didn't quite realize that saying something like that could actually put her in a bad position and even if she did, she wouldn't care. She stated the truth and if he was going to drag her off for it, she wouldn't go down without making a few casualties, him being one of them.

[The Silver Sliver] An exchange of beliefs? (Valerius)

Postby Valerius Nitrozian on September 12th, 2012, 8:03 am

„Weapons don’t only come in two or three sizes“, Valerius informed her. „Any blacksmith can make a weapon that is exactly the size you need.“ But of course she wouldn’t know that. She had probably just walked into some kind of rundown weapon shop, pointed at a weapon and then walked away again without knowing what exactly it was that she had just bought. „And no, you aren’t quite big enough.“

Unlike Tanjun he didn’t sound angry at all. If anything, he was a bit indifferent. „Oh, rest assured, I didn’t imply that he was involved in something illegal. I said that I assumed it wasn’t anything illegal. Although I’d love to see you try and rip my tongue out. You’d probably have to climb on a chair for that.“

As she mentioned what her brother did, he arched an eyebrow. That sounded interesting, and it probably involved a lot of money as well. „Do you know where the digsite is located? I could ask around, use my contacts …“ He smiled slightly as if he’d suddenly become a completely different, nice and helpful man (which he would of course never really be).

„Any name is worth remembering“, he argued. „You’ll never know, Miss Vorot.“ As she claimed to be an aspiring Ebonstryfe solider, he furrowed his brow. „If you really want to become a member of the Ebonstryfe, Miss Vorot, you need to learn to control your temper. It would also be good if you thought a bit before you acted, and you should learn who matters in Ravok and who not. If I told anybody about our meeting, it would have dire consequences.“

As she talked about lazy people – with which she probably meant him – he shrugged his shoulders. He didn’t care about what she said. If she thought him lazy, then so be it. She was probably just jealous because his family was rich and influential, and he only had to work if he wanted to.

[The Silver Sliver] An exchange of beliefs? (Valerius)

The girl really felt like punching the guy in his smug face. Who was he to look down on her brother's gift. Not to mention that he made fun of her size, again. "I'll just cut a piece of your legs away, then I can reach it just fine. And if you dare to make fun of me again, no matter how important you are, you WILL lose your life here.", she said, her voice fueled with rage.

Him suddenly showing interest, raised the alarms within Tanjun's head even further. This guy couldn't be up to anything good. Not in a million lifetimes. "Don't know, don't care. All that I know is that he had to guard them. Told him not to go, but he insisted.", she didn't even care anymore about keeping up a good image, even though she only held it up for a very small amount of time. "We could've gotten round if I also started working, but he insisted on going. Gonna let him have it once he gets back home."

She did feel a small bit of fear as he threatened her that he could tell his connections, but she decided to wager a small bit on his pride, which he seemed to have in abundance. "So you would tell them that you couldn't even handle a short and young girl? Don't you think that they'd lose any respect they might have for you?", she said. "Doubt anyone can bring up to have ANY respect for a guy like this actually.", she thought to herself before continueing, "What would happen to your status then? Wouldn't you also be cutting yourself that way? Besides, don't you want to have a nice torturer and bodyguard with you? I'm sure that I could make myself useful that way."

[The Silver Sliver] An exchange of beliefs? (Valerius)

Postby Valerius Nitrozian on November 2nd, 2012, 2:26 pm

„Really?“ Valerius wondered as Tanjun threatened that he would lose his life here. He took a look around to see if their location had changed in the meantime and they were alone now, but no, they were still in the tavern, in plain sight of quite a few people that wouldn’t hesitate to save his life (if only so that they could ask his father for a reward).

He was almost tempted to challenge her to use that big weapon of hers, but on the other hand there was a small chance that somebody would get hurt before the patrons intervened, and he was rather fond of his flawless body. “I suppose I’ll have to stop then, do I?”

As she claimed that she didn’t know and didn’t care about the details of her brother’s job, he looked at her incredulously. He didn’t believe her. Maybe she knew, but was keeping the information a secret on purpose. He made a face. He would find out what was going on anyway.

“It seems as if it was a very important job then, and the payment was good”, he remarked. “It surprises me that you don’t care about the job when your brother went missing while he was doing it. If I were you, I would try to find out as much as possible.”

“No, of course I wouldn’t tell them that”, he replied. He hadn’t considered that. It might hurt his reputation if it became public knowledge that he hadn’t been able to handle a girl, but on the other hand she was interested in the Ebonstryfe. Girls that wanted to join the Ebonstryfe were not like other girls, and she was quite mad on top of it. “Let us make a truce then. I will stop making fun of you, and you will stop talking about removing my legs.”

“As for my possible interest in a torturer and bodyguard …” He looked at her, wondering if she meant what he thought she meant. “Is that supposed to be a job application? I was under the impression that you didn’t like me and weren’t particularly interested in working for me, speaking with me or doing anything else with me.”

Tanjun twitched a little as the Nitrozian was talking about how he would find out as much as he could. Of course she knew more then enough about it. She wished she didn't know about it, as now she knew of the risks. "Petching yerk, remembering me of the dangers." she thought to herself as she grit her teeth. She didn't really want to answer anymore.

The girl was quite happy that the guy in front of her decided to change the subject. The suggestion of a truce was appealing. Especially since she did plan to walk out of here alive. "Sure, truce it is then.", she said a little reluctant. This guy wasn't worth dying over... just yet. Maybe later he would be, but that was something she'd have to see later.

What the Nitrozian was saying next made it seem as if Tanjun just had made a bad joke. She was looking for a job and she just did apply for it. She could set aside her personal grudges if it were to secure a stable income, as it would be beneficial to her brother. "Yeah yeah, it was a joke." she waved away her application like that, "Tsk, as if any sane person would want to work for such a stuck up brat like you. Oh and even if we did make a truce, don't think that I'll be addressing you any kinder now."
I'm smiling, so you might want to start running.

[The Silver Sliver] An exchange of beliefs? (Valerius)

Postby Valerius Nitrozian on November 6th, 2012, 7:07 am

Valerius was happy that the madwoman had decided to accept his offer of a truce – even though hitting her or dragging her over to the Ebonstryfe she seemed to be so interested in was very appealing. The fact that she had had the nerve to ask him for work after she had threatened to murder him and do all kinds of unpleasant things to him, had made him curious.

Maybe she wasn’t the usual kind of madwoman. Maybe she was twice as mad, although he actually considered giving her a job for a moment just because it would be amusing to let her loose on the slaves or the Kelvic in the KRI. He wondered what she’d do to them. Would she remove their legs so that she could torture them more easily? And what would Aunt Amanda say to her?

Would she feel the urge to experiment on her to see where her madness came from or make her her assistant?

„I see“, he remarked as she informed him that it had been a joke. „For a moment you sounded serious though. But it’s good that you aren’t. You seem to be rather creative as far as threats and potential torture methods are concerned, but I’m not sure if I could trust somebody that threatened to kill me. And it would be better if you didn’t call me a stuck up brat. I might change my mind about our truce, and you can imagine what will happen then.“

He smiled a little.

„Besides, most people would be overjoyed to work for House Nitrozian. We pay our employees well and treat them with respect. The mere fact that they are working for one of Ravok’s most influential families will open a lot of doors for them.“

[The Silver Sliver] An exchange of beliefs? (Valerius)

The girl gave the guy in front of her a look that, if glares could kill, would've killed him multiple times. Didn't he understand the concept of sarcasm or so? Couldn't he clearly see that she WAS offering her services as a torturer? Apparently she had to spell it out for him to understand. Apparently he was that stupid.

"I was serious, bonehead. Can't you even understand the concept of sarcasm...? Apparently not, so I'll spell it out for you.", she started. Her tone was still angered, not honeysweet as just a little bit ago. "I can put my personal... dislike for you aside if it nets me a job. So... do you have something or not?"

She couldn't care less anymore if he didn't have a job. She was actually getting really sick of talking with him. "Petching yerk that's as dense as a friggin mountain. I wanna get outta here. This jackass is working too much on my nerves.", she thought to herself, "I don't wanna end up making the Ebonstryfe my enemy, but this guy sure is making it HARD." To further show her annoyance, she was ticking on the table and leaning her chin on her other hand. Her face contorted with anger.
I'm smiling, so you might want to start running.

[The Silver Sliver] An exchange of beliefs? (Valerius)

Postby Valerius Nitrozian on November 13th, 2012, 7:06 am

As Tanjun glared at him, Valerius glared back. Just like her he had perfected that murderous look. It seemed as if they did have something in common after all, even if it was just killing each other with their eyes. „No, I’m afraid not“, he replied as she asked him if he couldn’t understand the concept of sarcasm. „How was I supposed to know that you were being sarcastic? You didn’t tell me! As for ‚bonehead‘, I’ve heard more creative insults.“ He remembered his meetings with the mad animator Tock. She had known insults that would have made a sailor blush, and she hadn’t been afraid to use them.

„If you are sure that you can put your personal dislike for me as you put it aside, there’s a place for you in my house and my future torture chamber“, he assured her. As he had concluded before, hiring her might be highly entertaining (as long as she didn’t try to kill him or the members of his family). „You should stop looking so angry though. We decided on a truce, do you remember? You should smile a little because I just agreed to give you a job despite the way that our meeting started.“

Of course this guy would've heard more creative ones. She could easily tell by his attitude. She couldn't help that she wasn't that creative with words. However Tanjun did choose not to make a point of this, because apparently he did have a place for her. However, forcing a smile on her face was a little too much to ask. "Thank you for the working place then. I'm sorry I can't force a smile on my face, but I hope you can understand.", she said with a slight venomous undertone.

The girl took a sip from her wine again. During the whole time, she had completely forgotten about it and only now remembered that it was there. It wasn't even that good, she had better not too long ago. "When and where should I be then? Oh and at what time?", she asked. "Besides that, what could I expect for a wage?" These were just standard questions one would ask if they got a job. Because, let's face it, one can't work if they don't know where to be at what time and what date.

"Oh, I can assure you that I can put my personal dislike aside. Just give me a vic... ehm prisoner or so and I'll make his or her life end in pain. If you want I can drag it out, though I am not too sure how long I can drag it out right now. I'm still learning new techniques to cause more pain." Tanjun's eyes had a slight glint as she talked about dragging out their death. It was quite obvious that she'd love to do it like that.

„Oh, I understand“, Valerius assured her in the same slightly venomous tone. „It is a little hard to smile under such circumstances, even though you’ve just gotten a job.“ He cast her a meaningful glance. „As for where you should be, the Nitrozian Estate, the best looking of the three buildings. I also work at the Kelvic Research Institute, but I think my aunt would much rather torture the creatures herself. As for when, whenever you are ready. You would probably like some time to prepare. Tomorrow or the day after would be best though as I can’t wait to watch you work.“

He paused as he thought about the wage. Valerius had never hired somebody he had to pay. He just had slaves that worked for free because he owned them. „I would say around six golden mizas a day, although you will have to prove yourself to me and my family of course.“

„A victim?“
he finished. From the sound of his voice it was obvious that he was perfectly fine with the fact that she wanted to cause people pain. A torturer that had no interest in such things, was useless. „You will get a lot of those, and you will likewise get a lot of opportunities to learn new techniques. And if there are any tools that you need, let me know.“

Valerius sounded almost friendly now. Apparently he liked talking about such topics.
