Ready to be out of there (Hadrian)

8 day of Spring Year 510

Sylirasen Leopold Betgrynn walked the halls of the university he was heading out of the day planning on visiting a tavern getting something that gave pleassing buzz and would make it so he enjoyed the rest of the evening. He hoped that it would involve someone of the opposite gender, but he had long learned trips like this often could never be planned.

Sylirasen or Sylir as he was known, was a tall young man who knew that he was handsome, and was liked by the ladies and like them in return. His hair was cut to frame his face. He was friendly though and enjoyed talking with people. He liked adventureing and exploring. Many find it out that he even went to the University, but he also has a seldom shown desire to learn especially history and people.

So it was that he walk through the halls.

Ready to be out of there (Hadrian)

Postby Hadrian on April 29th, 2010, 3:57 am

Hadrian was defraying the cost of classes by volunteering as slave labor for his professors. As such, he had just finished teaching an introductory class for Professor Stonemiller in the College of Magic so the man could do something more important. Now he was just wondering if he had been as annoying and useless when he was a young freshman a few years back.

The conclusion he had come to was: probably. That didn't make him very happy.

But he was planning to get happy at a tavern now that his obligations for the day were complete. His studies could wait for one more day this early in the term. Perhaps kelp beer would startle a better idea for his term project out of his brain.

Being tall, rather gangling, and not very in tune with his body, he bumped into another young man who looked familiar, but not in any way he could place.

"Sorry, my fault."

The man stepped back as he bupped into the other student. He looked over the young man. "I am sorry. I was just in a hurry to get out of here for the evening." He said smiling. "So wasn't paying as much attention as I should have."

He looked over the man and reconized him from around the school, but that didn't say anything. There were a lot of people he tended to see around the school. "Would you be up to joining me for a drink." He asked, always glade for company when he drank.

"Sure," he replied amiably, his mood expansive at the thought of alcohol to be consumed. "I'm Hadrian," he said, putting out his hand. "I think I've seen you around. I hang mostly around the College of Magic anymore, though. Maybe it was at one of the bars I've seen you, though." He chuckled. "After too much study, the only cure is kelp beer, I've found."

The man smiled at the thought of having a drinking budy. "I actually spend most of my time in the Anthropology department. Between my father working there and my classes." He looked him over. "I think I do remember seeing you as well. It may be either a class or maybe the bar."

"I agree thought nothing is better and driving away classes then beer. Well beer and a beautiful woman." He said laughting and patted the man on the back. "So what are you studing in the magical college?"

"Oh!" He brightened. "I've taken several classes in anthropology. I'm hoping it will help me work in other cultures whenever I leave Zeltiva for someplace new. I may have had a class with you... which professor is your father?"

He was surprised that they didn't know each other better, all things considered, but there was no time like the present to fix that. Truth be told, Hadrian had little luck with the ladies. Some were frightened by magic, others thought it strange. But by and large, with his slender frame and despite his height, most of them saw him in a sisterly fashion.

"I've focused on magecrafting for the main," he said. "I think it has practical applications and I'm good at it, so..."

OOC: Sorry for the delay.

IC:

He flashed his friendly smile and nodded his head. "Most likely we have been in some classes together. My father is proffessor Bethrynna. He tends to teach archaeology more so then Anthropology." He said walked towards the schools exit.

"That is interesting. I think we need to have more magic again in this world, but I am not going to mention that in certian crowds." He gave him a knowling roll of the eyes. For people who studied the old ways they understood how much magic had been a part of the world and helped it to develop. "I think it would be interesting, but I don't think I have the study habbits. I can handle studing cultures, but I understand magecraft takes a lot of focus and time?"

[OOC: No worries!]

"Sylir," he said, nodding. "I don't know if we've met properly, but yes, I remember you. Sylir Bethrynna. All right." He smiled. "I've taken class with your father before. And ah, yeah, magecrafting is a precise and intricate practice. It does involve a lot of skill and learning, but you also have to be somewhat obsessive about details to make sure everything is right. It's kind of like taking engineering and magic and smashing them together. All I really do is study, so it works for me.

"That's why I'm pale and gangly and don't have a girlfriend."

To that he smiled ruefully and shrugged. It was apparently one of the costs.

Sylir laughted at the man's joke. "Well that is sad, but maybe tonight we can at least get you out of the library and into the presents of something a little less secluded. We might even be able to find you some young ladies." The handsome man with his bright smile and good humor always enjoyed talking to people who didn't take themselves to seriously.

"I do think I remember you from some of my classes as well, but I usually sat away from the teacher at the back so I didn't see many peoples faces, and mostly just a lot of back of heads."

The excited the university and headed down the streets towards the tavern and its specilized local beer. "So I assume you have been at the university for a while then?"

Hadrian swiveled at the hips so he could walk along while presenting the back of his head to Sylir; a fair finger pointed at the back of his head, dark brown hair and nothing really interesting. When he turned back, a faintly sheepish smile for the stupid joke, he nodded.

"My first term was Fall '06," he said. "I took general classes at first, but rather quickly narrowed in on magecrafting and anthropology. I figured the anthro would actually help with the magical studies, too, since it might help me stay alive in cultures normally hostile to humans in order to study and work more... Or perhaps I'm just fooling myself and I'll get eaten by a Zith or turned into a zombie in Sahova..."

These were legitimate fears, but he tried to laugh them off.
