Summer, Day 11, Year 512 AV
Gaius followed Leena into the back room and workspace of Inner Fire Glass as she continued to speak, gesturing to different tools as she went. She soon walked off, leaving Gaius to his own devices. He studied the area carefully and noted several simple molds that Leena had indicated. She had said she needed quite a few common products to keep the shelves stocked and so he decided to get straight to work on just that.
Gaius geared up, donning a heavy apron and gloves to help protect him from the heat and set to work, taking up a ladle and carefully moving clear, molten glass into the molds, letting them form into the proper shapes. The process was a long one and from there, Gaius moved to the proper methods of heating and cooling the glass, bringing it down to a solidifying temperature. As he went about his work, Gaius became more and more aware of the heat in the workspace, far worse than the heat from the natural, open spaced areas he had known on Wind Reach, but bearable.
In several hours of this repetitious work, Gaius had created several decanters, vases, and other various items of simple, common production with which to fill the stock of the shop. The workmanship was simple, but elegant thanks to the molds, and Gaius was proud to have at least accomplished something, of being able to improve himself. As the day was drawing to a close, Gaius put away the tools, replaced his gloves and apron in the necessary storage, and left the shop, content with his work.
