1st of Summer, 512AV
The season change was upon them. Though in Avanthal, one may not notice much of a change. Summer here was much like the spring... and fall, and winter. It was warmer, but the temperature increased at such a slow rate it was incredibly hard to notice. In any case, it still snowed all the time.
However this summer was different. Everyone knew that the temperature was high. The snow was gone and so was the city's usually cheery atmosphere. It rained all the time now, turning the pristine white pathways into dirty brown sludge. The residents feared that it would never be normal here again, and that made everyone miserable, not least their resident Goddess Morwen.
On this particular morning, a young man trudged slowly down one of the streets. His hands were shoved deep in his pockets and his head was down; gaze focused on the floor. The rain had let up for the last day or so, which had allowed the streets to dry out. This somewhat pleased Nate, since it meant that he wouldn't get mud up the back of yet another pair of trousers. He had long given up cleaning his shoes though; they were currently caked in the brown stuff.
He glanced up at the sky sharply, squinting. Water splattered onto his upturned face and he sighed. More rain... He was near to home now, not too far from the Frostfawn Hold. All the same, he didn't fancy staying outside for longer than he needed to. The stables were just to his left, so he ducked into the nearest entrance and leaned against the wall, hoping that the rain wouldn't linger.
