Day 38, Winter of 506 AV
Early Evening
Treasures of the Sea

It was that beautiful time of the day when Syna still reigned high in the sky, but in the midst of an elegant descent to swap places with her lover. The sky was orange, bright yet not bright, dark yet not dark. Accordingly, various places in the city had already begun setting up torches in advance, while some prefered to wait until Leth had fully claimed ownership of the heavens before doing so. Cold crystals from Morwen's habitat graced the environment as they gently floated down, creating a serene setting excellent for introspection.

Unfortunately, this tranquility in nature was not reflected by the denizens of the mortal world, for each of them were more interested in their own businesses, striding about with purposeful steps, with decisive actions. Who can blame them, for their lives were but an infinitesimal amount to the Gods, and the Gods themselves an infinitesimal amount to Nature and Reality.

Down in the port city of Zeltiva, against this surreal backdrop, a merchant known as Ralaeph was beginning to close his shop for the day, preparing himself to relax at home, or perhaps at the Bar if the ladies there caught his fancy on the way home. Taking out his key from his pocket, he prepared to cover his collection of old objects and trinkets with a piece of cloth when he felt a rough shove from behind him.

His forehead smacking painfully on his own merchandise, he uttered a surprise yelp when he felt arms roughly reaching in front of him, grabbing an object or two before bolting in the opposite direction.

"Wait! Who the hell?!" Ralaeph screamed, his face red not only in anger but also due to the unceremonious shove into his wares. "Thief! Thief!" He shouted, raising his voice and pointing at the man running away. He would love to chase the scoundrel, but he could not for he risked forfeiting his entire shop's worth of wares should he follow in wild abandon.
