It was dangerous in and around Sunberth, and this Hadrian well knew. But soon he would be en route to Sahova, which was more dangerous still. When he was paying attention, he was secure. Few could touch him if he was prepared, and he stole out of the city under cover of divine Illusion, his auric energy carefully controlled so as to blend in with the ambient djed of his surroundings. Only the blessed of Syna or Eyris could see him now.

He walked the coastline until he found a deserted stretch of beach, a little nook hidden between rocky formations leading out into the sea. To the east, there was nothing but sea and sky. Here it was easier to pretend that he was alone with Laviku, to whom he spoke his secrets.

After doffing his clothes, he bundled everything up, his hands and the bundle soon covered in green res and then he plunged his things into the rocks nearby, his power carving out a hollow, and when he pulled his hands free, everything he had carried was safely stowed within solid stone. Naked, bereft of the trappings of civilization, he turned toward the sea, his pale skin limned with res, blue, green, yellow.

He stepped into the sea, the chill of it nice after walking through the humid summer air.

"Lord Laviku, I must be brief, but I travel over you soon to Sahova. Keep us safe on our journey."

His toes moved through the coarse sand, and he felt connected to the earth below.

"Lady Semele, I know you will be hidden far below, rising to meet me when we reach shore."

A gust of sea breeze tickled his bare skin and he looked up, spread his arms to embrace the sky.

"Lord Zulrav, see us swiftly to our destination. Lady Makutsi, may the weather be gentle."

Sometimes he just needed to reconnect with the elements, the bases of his reimancy. He had worked hard for his skill and his power, but the greater his abilities, the more he felt he should give the gods their due. He wasn't superstitious, nor religious, exactly, but the more he saw, the more he saw the underlying pattern of the world, and it seemed appropriate to set himself properly in the hierarchy of things.
