A day in the woods (Allison)

[Carney]

He listened as she told him about her camp, it troubled him that she had no home and lived in the woods. However he decided not to stick his nose where it did not belong saying instead, "It's dangerous for a person to live out here, but then you must know that."

When Carney saw her reaction to Blue he was very surprised and thought that she must be very fearful of dogs, this was strange to him because he was taught to love all animals aside from the ones he ate. Hearing the tone in her voice he answered her question, "I would not say that so much as I care for dogs, cats, birds most manners of animal. Sometimes it seems that you can trust an animal much more than most people." He could see that she had changed her whole attitude and could not understand it for the life of him.

"Is there a reason you don't like dogs? He said while he wondered to himself how he would get back in her good graces. He glanced toward the creek and told Blue to go lay down over by the stream.

[Allison]

Allison sat for a few moments before answering the Akalak’s question. “No,” she replied simply. “Some are bearable but most are just stupid” she elaborated, glancing towards the dog lazing by the stream. Allison then decided it was probably best to change the subject, and ask the question that had bugged her since the start of this encounter. “Why are you so bloody nice?” she asked in a confused tone. “If the situation was reversed you would be dead and I’d be fed for a week. And now after you’ve helped me despite the lack of any thanks I’ve gone an insulted your dog” she continued, her voice having gotten louder than it was before. “Thanks, by the way," she added quietly.

[Carney]

Carney quietly laughed at Allison's answer and said, "Well I must partly agree with you, I have seen a lot of dumb dogs." With that said he also let the topic die down.

He listened to her ask why he was nice, he felt this to be an odd thing to ask. Being nice was part of his nature it was just the way he was, but he tried to explain it to her. "Well we all need a helping hand at times, someone to be kind to us. That and women in Riverfall were to be treated with kindness. Although I do have another side to me. One that is not so nice."

When she lowered her voice to say thanks he smiled and said, "I barely did anything but be concerned for another person. But your very welcome." He stopped and thought for a minute before he continued on. "So what is it you do out here in the woods usually?"

[Allison]

Allison listened quietly as Carney explained. She still didn’t quiet understand, but she didn’t question it. It was simply his nature, she supposed, just as hers was of a more selfish kind. She thought for a moment before answering his question, “I love to hunt during the night, but during the day I like to paint, sleep and wander around on Terri” she said, nodding towards the grazing horse. “And you?” she asked him, before gesturing to the fishing equipment lying on the ground and adding “Do you fish a lot?”

[Carney]

Carney listened as Allison explained what it was she did while out in the woods and answered her question, "I would not say that i fish a lot, more often I come out here to hunt and look at and study rocks that I find. Sometimes I also come here to shadow box, sometimes I just sit and listen to the quiet."

Then he thought about what she had said a moment ago and voiced his thought. "I did not know that humans saw well enough to hunt at night, I thought only my kind and maybe a couple other races could see that well. he said then let her speak if she wanted. He then felt the want to comment on what she did during the day saying, "So you are a starving artist then. It must be nice to be able to capture the very soul and life of what you see." She had captured his attention with this as he had yet to meet an artist, he asked, "What is it that you paint?"

[Allison]

Allison was confused about the Akalaks remark about her sight. Surely he knew she was kelvic? He had to have been able to scent it. No, stupid. He can't smell as well as you can. she scolded herself after a few short moments of thought. She did not comment on the remark however, she simply nodded her head. At the next question he posed, she replied, "I paint what I see in others, how their nature appears to me. Some people are simple, yet others are a lot more complex. Most don't tend to like them though, it hurts their feelings or something like that." She finished with a snicker.

[Carney]

Carney noticed how Allison skipped over the first remark about her sight. He was not a stupid man but decided that everyone was entitled to their own secrets, but he was beginning to piece the puzzle together or at least he thought. Leaving well enough alone was what he decided to do, concentrating the conversation on her art, which was entertaining enough for him.

He listened to her as she explained her style of painting and when he got a chance to speak he said, "How would you depict me? I wonder. If you feel the need to paint, I have thick skin, my feeling are not easily hurt." He wondered how she would paint him if she did. Would she paint him as he treated her, or would she be able to see into his souls, seeing the inner turmoil the struggle for balance between the two differnt beings that called his body home?

He also was at the same time thinking about asking her if she would like to hunt with him when it came to be night. He had not met another person since he had been in this new area that could rival the night sight of an Akalak. But he would wait to ask her about hunting for now.

[Allison]

Allison pondered the question for a moment before replying, "I paint alone" followed by a wry smile. "If I need a model they are never aware of my presence. If I ever do paint you though, I'll let you know.". What she had said was the truth, but it wasn't quite as simple as that. She didn't quite know how to depict this man. It was true that he obviously had a very tense relationship with his other soul, but that was not who he was. It was just something that he had to deal with. Perhaps she would just paint him as he appeared to her, since he seem very transparent. He didn't appear to keep much hidden, whether he realized it himself or not. But how would she depict that? It was too much to think about right now, so she left it for later. It was not something she planned to leave unfinished though.

[Carney]

Carney responded to her answer with a somewhat somber face, "I see, I understand how it could be stressful to have your muse know of you wokring. Luck me, what I work with knows nothing of anything, it being rock and mineral. Thank you though for telling me that you would let me know." He had thought that she would show him as some silly-looking knight looking person, but now began to wonder if she could see into his very being and how he was truely.

It was not something he had ever spoken of to anyone outside his race, people most of the time would only meet one or the other, Carney or Sorley. Carney were not ready by any means though ready to let her learn of his other half, he feared the outcome of such knowledge, how could someone other than anothher of his kin understand. Though she did show the promise of one who would.

A previous ides came to him, there was much they could learn from and about eachother form hunting together. He asked her, "I was wondering if you would like to go hunting with me? It could be thid day or later tonight, either works for me." He looked at her hanging on the words that would come out of her mouth.

[Allison]

The offer took Allison by surprise, and so she pondered it for a short moment before replying. "I'd love to," she said with a little smile. She liked being around Akalaks, especially this one. They reminded her of when she stayed in Riverfall. "Can we meet at dusk? I don't like to hunt during the day, all the animals are too alert." she said. After she had received her answer she began to pick herself up and head towards her horse. "I'd better go, see you later," she called back before mounting the large horse and heading back through the forest on her way to her camp.
