Built into the cliffs overlooking the Suvan Sea, Riverfall resides on the edge of grasslands of Cyphrus where the Bluevein River plunges off the plain and cascades down to the inland sea below. Home of the Akalak, Riverfall is a self-supporting city populated by devoted warriors. [Riverfall Codex]

Who: Naeya Ti'av

Liandra sat in the surf, watching Syna begin to rise up over Laviku's domain, trying to remember what Ishmail told her about training by herself. She had originally come down to the beach to try and find some shells or bones that she could turn into talismans and practice on, and she might still do that later. But Ishmail had told her that she needed to incorporate her every day life into her fighting, and her fighting into every day life. She still wasn't quite sure what that meant. However, this morning pickings were slim on shells, so she looked out to the surf, noting that the tide was coming in harder today than most. She wondered if that meant a storm was coming to town soon.

She stripped out of her top and bottoms, setting them high on the beach knowing the tide would still be rising throughout her searching. She gingerly splashed her way into the warm waters, noting the waves crashing in, cresting at about her own height. She laughed to herself as she imagined the waves as Otani coming to dance with her, guided by Laviku's laughter. Then Ishmail's advice came back to her. Incorporate it in everything you do. She smiled, thinking this wouldn't be so hard. She stood there as the wave crashed over her, the water warming her very being. She saw the next wave approaching and tried to make a proper fist as he had taught her. She gripped her four fingers into a ball, then loosened it slightly as he'd said. Apparently she had to do her thumb differently because of the webbing between her fingers. So instead of putting it around the first knuckles of forefinger and middle finger, she pressed the tip of it into the fold of her fore finger, her thumb knuckle angling out away from her fist.

She repeated this with her other hand, and as the wave approached, she hadn't been expecting it, and slapped at it with her fist. She could picture Ishmail just laughing away at her. She turned and faced the sea proper, and waited for the next wave to come crashing toward her. She tried to line her feet up properly. Left foot out in front, right one back, about shoulder's width apart. The next wave rolled up, surging from a bump to a curved wall, and with an overzealous "HAH!" she shot her fist into the wave. The upward curl of the water caught her wrist as it passed through, pulling it up above her head, and upsetting her balance, sending her sprawling backwards into the surf. Recovering, she sat on her calves and pumped both arms into the air, "I get it!" She stood up and moved deeper into the tide, and continued to punch at the waves as they crashed, alternating with each fist. Sometimes the wave knocked her down, other times she fell through the wave. Keeping her balance was a lot harder to do on land, especially when fighting. After a particularly annoying tumble up the beach, she just laid there facing the sky and sighing. "Life is harder when you have to fight all the time..."
