Syna was just beginning to set as the Charodae woman exited the gates, smiling and stopping to talk to the guards stationed there. "You heading out for the night? You know it's dangerous out there. Although... by all those bruises you're sporting, I'd say you've been visiting our Sasarans?"
Liandra smiled, glad that someone noticed her efforts to strengthen herself, and thus become more useful to the city. "Yeah, they've been teaching me a few things, pretty soon I'll be able to give you a run for your Mizas." This brought a laugh out of the two men, and herself. "I'm just going to go grab a bottle of wine for those Kuvay'nas boys, maybe I'll get you guys something as well. Are you allowed to drink on the job? And what do you two like?"
They turned to each other and smiled, and simultaneously said, with enthusiasm, "Pride." She giggled and waved at them playfully as she made her way along the wall to the Winery. She loved the feel of this old building, and was smiling to herself, as her eyes followed the old stone archways and the lines of the floor. As she entered, a dark blue man approached her, a smile on his face. "Why hello there... Liandra is it? Welcome welcome, my name is Kozar. How may I help you today?"
Liandra was busy staring at the shelves and shelves of bottles, wondering just how wine was made. Maybe she could take a tour sometime? "Oh um, sorry. Wait. How'd you know my name?"
"We make it a point to know all up and coming business owners in the city, they are often our best customers, and we like to take care of them. You don't look like you've had much experience with wine, am I right?"
"Well I tried some red wine at a bar in Alvadas once, what was that place called? The Horse's Ass? But I'm ashamed to say I haven't really had the chance to try anything else beyond that since I arrived here."
The man looked appalled at this admission. "Alvadas! They wouldn't know what real wine is if I drowned Ionu in a barrel of it! Gah! You need to forget your first! Just for that, I'm going to have a tasting right now, for everyone in the shop."
Liandra looked around, and for the first time, noticed all of the other customers within. Kozar began going around informing the other customers that he was going to begin a tasting, then he moved on and gathered a bunch of small glasses, several different bottles of wine, and several buckets. "For those of you who have never attended a tasting here's how it works. I'll open a bottle, pour a mouthful for everyone. First give the glass a gentle swirl, so you can truly take in the aromas of the wines. Always hold by the stem, you don't want to upset the temperature of the wine. When you taste, swirl it around in your mouth, coating all of the surfaces so you can get the true taste and texture, then swallow or spit into your bucket. We will do white wines first, then the lighter wines, followed by the heavier reds, and finally the sweet wines. If you have other plans for the night, I suggest spitting, as wine can get you drunk a lot quicker than you'd expect. Any questions?"
Liandra had none, so she waited a bit impatiently for any others to step forward.
