(Continued from a previous thread. 82nd Day of Summer, 512 AV Just past midnight... Tock limped her way into the infirmary, her stomach wound aching and burning. She wasn't here for treatment, however. She was here to keep a promise. A promise that might be the last one ever made to a certain little boy. Her eyes were rimmed red by the time she made her way inside, her heart hammering tight inside her chest. One of the nurses tried to intercept her as she raced inside. The woman stepped into Tock's path, and she just shoved her aside into the wall. "Tock, wait..." the nurse said, trying to grab her arm. Tock yanked her arm away, limping towards Mikey's room. One of the doctors planted himself in the doorway of the room and grabbed her by the shoulders. She screamed and squealed, trying to push past him. She refused to think about why they were trying to stop her. She didn't want to consider it. When he refused to let her past Tock tried to take a swing for the doctor's face, breathing in sharp gasps through clenched teeth, tears streaming down her cheeks. It took three people to stop her and hold her back. They were trying to talk to her, offering some excuses or explanations, but she couldn't best their words through the pounding of her own heart in her ears. |
