Physical Information: ■ PC Name’s: Kanri ■ Race: Human (Inarta) ■ Caste: Avora ■ Birthday & Age: 40th of Winter, 496 AV (16 Years Old) ■ Gender: Female Physical Description: Kanri is a slender, elegant girl with a child-like twinkle still in her eyes. Her neck-length hair is a very dark red and her eyes are a hazel green. Her skin is mid-toned, but darker at her elbows and knees where she has scarred herself falling or other such accidents. She generally wears darker, and highly practical, clothes. She stands at 5’0” and weighs about 100 pounds. She keeps her hair short because she hates brushing it. Luckily, it has a slightly silkier texture than most Inartan hair so that is not as much of a problem. Character Concept: Kanri calls herself the Sparrow among Eagles. Among the fierce Inarta, Kanri feels out of place, isolated, and anxious. She also feels caged, as though if she lived another place, she would have the freedom to be who she wanted. Kanri wants to leave the nest and explore the great wide world, to become like the heroes of legends. She often over thinks everything, and comes to the wrong conclusions anyway. She loves to hear herself talk. She often breaks into long, rambling soliloquys, in which she processes what she says much after the fact of saying it. She does not find many others who enjoy intelligent conversation in Wind Reach as much as she does, which probably adds to her sense of isolation. Kanri can often appear arrogant, “puffing up her feathers” to look more impressive, even though she is actually fairly humble, and almost insecure. Kanri's dreams of leaving the nest one day and becoming a hero may only be her longing to feel as though someone needs her. Character History: Kanri is very a lucky Inarta who was raised by her mother and father, but only until she was eight. Her mother has a commanding, calm presence but prefers glassblowing to high action. She feels very passionately about many topics and bringing them up would lead to long, vibrant lectures, which Kanri picked up in the form of eager soliloquys. Her father, on the other hand, was fun loving and boisterous and gave Kanri a love of fun. Both of them taught Kanri that the caste system was important, but she should hold no scorn for the lower members of the Caste System, for their jobs were just as necessary as hers, just less valued by the whole of society. They also taught her society could be wrong. Throughout these years, Kanri fell in love with good stories. She liked making them up and telling them, she liked listening to them, but she hated reading because it always took so long. She spent a lot of time trying to read just one book, because she would get so bored waiting for the information to sink in. However, she learned about the Outside World this way, through the eyes of the authors of her books. Kanri learned a lot from her parents and books alike, including that she was not a special child, nothing to be proud of. Her parents often criticized most of her efforts to do anything. Since she was always taught that nothing she did was good enough, she spent several years of empty, lazy afternoons. She managed to wriggle into the Avora Caste, since her mother decided to take her on as an apprentice, and she is even more of a disappointment because of it. (Pre-creation) Kanri did not grow up without friends. One of her best friends was a mentally disabled boy who called himself "Seeker". A lot of people dismissed him as hopeless, due to his mental disability. Kanri, on the other hand, loved his company due to his creative stories. So, in return for being his friend, Seeker told her stories. Though Kanri mostly ignored it, Seeker really loved Kanri. He challenged her one camping trip; If she couldn't guess his four letter word based on stories he told, she would have to kiss him. Kanri agreed but both of them got distracted and pounced on by a Kougara. Seeker was badly injured but Kanri was able to kill it with a lucky hit. Seeker, with an already very weak immune system, was unable to survive and died. Kanri never kissed him but he did not seem sad about dying. Kanri wondered if that through his death, if he might finally be free. Free of societal pressures, free of mental blocks, free of sickness and coughing, and free to do what he chose. Though she did not show it, this incident traumatized Kanri quite a bit and began to laze about, showing very little studying drive in any area. She also developed an instinctive defense against thinking about boys, dropping the subject for "more important matters". (Flashback Spring 510) Kanri woke up one day, realizing that she had not done anything useful and her life was slowly ticking away. This was the day the glass was all shattered in the Crafts Gallery. She decided that day she was going to dedicate herself to her work, even if her parents thought she was useless. She began to try to catch up on her missing few years of training. (Summer 512 AV) One day, she met a man. This man was an assassin, hired to kill her. Though he significantly increased her perception when glassworking, he also shook her to the core. Kanri became depressed and flighty, loosing most of her conviction. Thankfully, after meeting a nice boy at the Fall Festival, she began to cheer up and eventually, the memories faded. But her parents reopened some old wounds and she decided, instead of letting them drag her down, she would prove she could be taught. That winter, she determines she was going to make a glass cat. After meeting "Mr. Cat", a little grey cat that lives around her house, she became inspired and manages to create a glass cat free form, even if it looked a little unpolished. (Fall 512 AV) Kanri also met that boy again, Ardal, and they has a snow ball fight. At the end of a lovely day, he asked her to go out with him. While she agreed, she gave him the warning that she may back out of the arrangement at any time. She does not seem to be as interested in him as he in her, though she enjoys his company all the same.
