“I… I hope so too,” Tyuru said, smiling again, and this time it seemed a little confused. She wasn’t sure what Eris thanked her for, but she knew it was probably one of those little things that she missed all too easily and that some day she would look back on this and understand it all, completely.

Tyuru watched Eris for a while as the woman rode away. Eris had all the qualities Tyuru secretly wanted but knew she wasn’t the right person to possess them. Instead of feeling jealous, like she normally would, she felt a kind of subconscious gladness that she had managed to see, and to make, Eris smile.
