To Dance In The Ring (Dusk~Open)

After a few more minutes of frantic betting, a loud bell rang out as one of the yellow-shirted men began yelling "All bets are in! All bets are in!"

The last of the transactions were wrapped up, and bouncers began shoving through the crowd to get the men through to the back stairs and down to the vault with their money. Betting slips were clutched in eager fists as a cheer of anticipation went up throughout the casino.
_____

Downstairs, the cheer was easily heard by the fighters. A knock on the door warned Taith a moment before it was shoved open. "It's time," the bouncer said, grinning widely. "Head up the stairs, and wait in the doorway until they announce you, then head out to the ring. Play the crowd a little, if you know what I mean," he chuckled.
_____

The cheers of the crowd had just begun to die down, leaving only a few impatient whistles and yells, when the bell rang out again and the announcer's voice bellowed above the noise. "Ladies and gentlemen!" he screamed, stepping into the center of the ring. "Welcome to this afternoon's event! I know most of you are used to being here well after the sun goes down," he said with a grin, which got a rolicking laugh out of several of the men and a few shouted insults, "but this fight needed to be seen in the light of day! You've all heard about our fighters, so let's get them out here and get this fight going, shall we?" he laughed, and the crowd cheered once more. "Tonight's fight will be one-on-one, and will end when I deem that a clear winner has emerged. Now without further ado, let's bring out your fighters! The challenger is an akalak with a powerful need to turn some poor human into pulp - Taithrosa!"

To Dance In The Ring (Dusk~Open)

Taithrosa stopped his stretching as the man arrived and called his out to the fight. His body was loss and ready for the fight to come. It was that last statement about playing the crowd. Well that would be interesting he thought to himself. He was sure that he was a very interesting sight. Standing there in shorts that had been provided. His cobalt blue skin standing out in stark contrast. Even the dark color thought couldn't hide the tones and ripped mucles. He was part Akalak, and one that had always believed in maintaining his physical apperances.

He waited on the side lines and tried to figure out how would be best to play the crowd. He figured that what they were expecting was a giant of a creature who wasn't particular smart and who was bulging at the seams who would give them a good fight. Which Taithrosa planned on doing. He wasn't sure as to the other mans skill, but he was ready for what would come.

He stepped into the ring. He made each step slow and deliberate. He walked with a high leave of confidence, far more then he really felt. He allowed his mucles to felx as he stepped into the ring. His eyes were hard and he had the air of some one ready for combate. His lips turned down in just a slight frown. He nodded his head in approval as he looked around waiting for his opponant to arrive.

OOC :
Since no one else has responded to this, I'm just going to move on to the fight. From here on out Taith and I will reply to each other, and if anyone else wants to post you're more than welcome, but we'll be the only ones going in turns. :)

Also, this is now a grandfathered thread, so only the people who've already posted to it can continue.

The crowd cheered at Taithrosa's entrance, though there was more murmuring than yelling.

"Lookit that big bastard! He's gonna tear Pete's arms off and beat him to petching death with them!"

"I dunno, Pete's a fast little shyke, and that 'un looks a bit slow. You really think he's gonna do it?"

"He's gonna pound him into the floorboards," the first guy laughed.

A cheer went up, and Toothless Pete entered the room.

He was only a little over five feet tall, scrawny and wiry and somewhat desperate looking. His face was thin and craggy, with a thin beard covering pock-marked cheeks. The cheer brought his chin up, and he gave a wide, gaping grin and threw his balled fists into the air. The cheer redoubled as the crowd caught his enthusiasm, and he pumped his fists as he made his way to the ring.

He stepped up on the worn leather of the mat, sneering at Taithrosa. "You's a big petcher, ain'tcha?" he laughed.

Taithrosa Eldytia looked at the man his eyes watching to see what clues he could get from the man. He was small and wirely. Okay that ment he likely as not had speed, but Taith didn't discount a possible strong hook or other such move. The desperate looking part intrigued him. That said something about him. The people liked him as well which spoke something about it as well.

Taithrosa walked up to the mate and crouched in preparation for the comming fight. His body was loss and ready to move. He knew he was big, but that could be as much to his benifit since he knew that could possible be a weekness, but he had agility training and so was more flexable then most Akalaks.

His fist were ready, but they were bouncing before him in a boxing type of move he was a brawler and and unarmed fighter he was more used to using the whole of his body. His fist could be fast when needed though.

He didn't speak just looked at the man before him, his silver eyes a little unsettling. They weren't the eyes of a normal mortal, but had the depth of countless lives remembered. They also had the depths of one who had not only seen a god but had lived with him as well. There was wisdom and the appeared as a shallow pool. He stood ready for the bell to ring. His arms and body ready to respond to his opponants attacks. He knew that those first moments would tell him a lot about his opponent. What he used, his strengths and his weekness.

So he waited for it to start his muscles tensed to being the Dance.

To Dance In The Ring (Dusk~Open)

Pete just grinned when Taith stepped up to him, his gums pink and the few teeth he had left stained brown. "You even know how to talk Common, boy?" he snickered, stepping up to the middle of the ring as well, fists balled in front of him and ready to go.

Though the bets were supposedly closed, there were a few select men who were whispering to the bet-takers - but then, it wasn't hard to imagine that the Knights were given the special concession of late odds.

The announcer held a hand high above his head, and the crowd gave a blood-thirsty cheer. And then he lowered his hand and backed out of the ring.

Before he'd even left, Pete sprang forward and aimed a kick at Taith's ribs, connecting solidly with his heel.

Taithrosa was impressed with the mans spead but he had expected that and noted that quickly. He also noted that he was agressive. Taith was grafeful for his body build at that time. The Akalak increase strength would make it so that he could take more hits before he was as affected as normal human. Given his crouching position the kick was natural move since it brought the ribs just a bit lower, but still given the height differences between the two it would still require some exertion of his body. He would have to put his weight all of the other foot and create a over balance as the leg came higher then a ninty degree angle.

Taithrosa ready for a coming attack qucikly grabbed at the offending leg aiming were the upper shin was when the hit was made but were the lower shine or ankle would be as the human pulled back. If he was able to grabe the leg successfully then he would grasp it slightly and turn the ankle. He wasn't trying to hurt the leg but sprain the ankle would achieve a smiler effect. Even if the ankle didn't sprain it would still be bruised and it would hopple him.

If he wasn't successful then once again prepared to move back or side ways, by staying on the balls of his heet and keeping his weight balanced. While the man was still trying to reclaim his balance from his kick Taith would turn his body just a bit side ways so that his side he had been kicked was slightly back more then the other side, and with the forwards side he would throw a quick punch aiming at the mans upper stomach. He would keep the punch tightly controled and not push it out farther then he could easily spring it back. One of his big benifits was the fact that he had a greater reach then the man. So by coming close enough to hit or kick he step into Taiths reach, and not his far reach. Once the punch was done Taith would pull it back quickly regain his balance and prepare to move for the follow up attack.

Toothless Pete didn't move away when Taith made the grab for his leg - instead he went with it, and when Taith turned his ankle the wiry little man flipped with it. His body twisted along with the ankle to keep it from getting hurt, and he tugged his foot free from Taith's grip as his body hit the mat.

And then he reached up and punched the big Akalak in the side of his knee as hard as he could.

The bare-knuckle fighter was made of steel and sinew, and his balled-up fist felt like a sledgehammer pounding into the big blue knee. Even as Taith tried to move back to prepare for the next punch, Toothless Pete rolled away and up to his feet, bouncing a little as he gave Taith his patented black grin.

Taithrosa was impressed that Pete moved with the punches as was glade to see this would be a challange. He quickly moved back as he was hit in the knee. It did sting and that told Taithrosa a lot to. He quickly moved also boncusing on his feet. Balance was one of the things Taithrosa believed in strong and always being aware of it.

He had information now about the man, he moved quickly, and he deffently had experiences, and he was soild. Those deffently told Taithrosa much about the fighter before him. He also thought that toothless grin was annoying, but the Akalak was phased, just noticed that the man stopped for these little snubs.

Taithrosa took that brief time he gave him to prepare himself. He found his balance and moved quickly, before the man could finish his little mocking tactic. He took a quick step forward and balancing solidly on one foot he raised the other and quickly kicked at the mans ribs. He moved quickly using his acrobatics training and then quickly brother the kick back. He maintained perfect control of his kick. He didn't strech out farther then he could easily return it before pete attemtped the same trick on him. Not that it would make much differences. Pete may be tough but Taithrosa's much greater weight was in his favor, but he wasn't just assuming the man was also strong. Until he had proof otherwise he would be vary.

Once he had finished his kick he restored his balance and bounced back out of range again.

To Dance In The Ring (Dusk~Open)

Postby Leviathan on July 27th, 2010, 2:29 am

OOCHey Guys, Dusk asked me to continue this thread for her since you guys are waiting on her. I will be continuing in her place as Pete, Gene, and the rest of the small time NPCs, the crowd, and so on. Hope that's suitable to everybody.

Toothless grin after empty toothed grin, Pete's face practically radiated with raw confidence, the short man was certain that he had this in the bag. Why wouldn't he? It was clear, to him at least, who was more experienced, who was better suited to be here, and he knew what he knew. It was the secrets that Pete knew that made all the difference. The time it took to smile was highly exaggerated by the Akalak Man, as Pete had proven once already, and was going to prove again, that he could just as easily move with the hideous expression as he could without it. The smile wasn't even broken as he nimbly turned his body, easily avoiding Taith's flying foot by mere inches, but gave him all the time he needed to stoop low, move in, and throw a fierce solid punch to the knew of Taith's base, the leg that was supporting him during the kick. It was clear of Pete's method now, a simple method at that. Disable, he was moving to drop the large man onto his knees, how could he pose a threat when he couldn't move? Precisely, Pete knew exactly what he was doing, as did Gene.

The crowd was roaring wildly as Pete made an obvious connection to Taith's knee, and Pete himself was swift to back up, and there was that smile, the grin that was ever so taunting. Pete was just toying with him, the motions, the activity, the fight was not even causing the dirty tiny human to break a sweat, where as Taith was already victim of three full shots, one to the chest and one to either leg. It would be a miracle if Taith's steps were still stable, but perhaps it would be better to go down now.

But how could Taith go down? The crowd was cheering for him, or perhaps threatening him, it was unlikely that a single soul would dare to actually attempt anything on the large Akalak man, but just hearing them, the mix laughter and screaming, the threats molded together with cursing and street-slum phrases that even those fluent in common couldn't particularly grasp the meaning of, was creating quite a maddening air. If the Akalak really was an Akalak, fully, then he would have likely felt his inner demon breaking the seal and being set free. Would that have helped?

"Wha'sa matter biggy? Ain't gonna let li'l Pete knock you out dis easy, eh? Pete mocked the man with a cruel laughter as he turned his head to lock eyes with Gene, who gave no expression from his stern, straight, stone-cut face. No smile, no anger, just seriousness. No words exchanged, but none were needed.
Bad News Everybody. School is picking up, Exams are beginning to happen, homework is growing time consuming, I may soon be evicted from my apartment, I'm dealing with severe and physical fights among several of my best friends, and I can't seem to find a time to get much needed sleep. I'm terribly sorry, but don't expect to see much of me for a long while.
