A city floating in the center of a lake, Ravok is a place of dark beauty, romance and culture. Behind it all though is the presence of Rhysol, God of Evil and Betrayal. The city is controlled by The Black Sun, a religious organization devoted to Rhysol. [Lore]

The Symenestra grinned with feral pleasure, the warm sensation of Giph's blood on his nails driving all thoughts not relating to the fight out of his head. This whelp would pay! He'd have followed up with a crippling bite, if it weren't for Giph's quick thinking. Volinir let out a yelp as the crossbow smashed into his back, forcing him onto his hands and knees. He was lucky Giph didn't strike him with the butt, or he'd have a few broken ribs and a lot of explaining to do when he got back to the house.
He rolled away from the boy to avoid taking more damage and scrambled to his feet. For a few seconds he stared at him, then turned on his heel and dashed down the street, blood pounding in his ears and trickling from the crown of his head. The corner. All he needed to do was reach the corner, and he'd be safe. Safe from bolts, at the very least. |

Giph didn't smile in satisfaction as the thing was forced on its knees by a shoddy blow of a young man. The thing wasn't subdued yet, so no time for celebration. He took another swing with the crossbow, hoping to knock the freak to the ground so he could stomp him into unconsciousness. No such luck, the thing rolled away from him and the only thing he had hit was air.
As he saw the spidery freak scramble back on his feet and stare at him for a few scant seconds. The thoughts in Giph's head where running a mile an hour. Reloading his crossbow would be to slow if he tried to attack and would no doubt miss if he decided to take a run for it. He downright refused to let this catch go. The way he was acting either confirmed he was escaping or doing something or wasn't a slave yet. Either way, if he managed to catch it he got his meal ticket for the next few day's at the very least.
When his mealticket decided to make a run for it, giph quickly slung his crossbow over his shoulder with the strap and took chase after the freak a determined look on his face and gritting his teeth as the slight scratches on his thigh hurted slightly when he started to run after the miscreant, still the wounds where to small and shallow to really bother him more then that. |

Volinir's frantic footsteps echoed throughout the streets and canals, the thud of flesh on wood the only sound in the sleeping city. He wasn't sure where he was going; it didn't matter at the moment. All that mattered was losing this nutter. The wet wood dug into his heels as he rounded the corner and sped off down the street, desperately looking for a way to throw him off in the indigo blur that had become his surroundings.
He dashed down an alley, weaving between the houses. He just needed some time. An open door caught his eye, and he rushed in without a second thought. Volinir was greeted to a huge, high roofed building, dark save for faint slivers of light streaming from barred slits in the roof. The floor was a labyrinth of boxes and barrels. He'd run into a warehouse. His hands felt clammy as he strode into the maze, ducking behind one of the crates. It would have been an effective hiding spot, if it weren't for his injured scalp. He didn't notice, but a few drops of blood denoted what building he'd entered.
His shoulders heaved from the mad dash, and Volinir struggled to keep his breathing quiet. He could hide here. He had to hide here. His ears strained to pick up any noise other than the frenzied beating of his heart. |

While the freak was a bit faster then him, it wasn't that hard to follow him down the street and through the alley, the sporadic drop of the freaks blood on the ground coupled with the loud footsteps in the otherwise completely empty streets would have made it easy for a halfway skilled tracker to find his prey. Giph however, still managed to lose sight of his prey once or twice before arriving at a huge high roofed building. A few blood drops where glistening in the moonlight at his feet. Forming a neat trail pointing towards the still half open door.
Giph let out a small soft snicker as he awkwardly reloaded his crossbow before sneaking inside of the warehouse with his crossbow ready and armed. He slowly moved through the door, letting his eyes adjust slowly to the small traces of moonlight through the slits in the roof. He kept his weight evenly distributed over both his feet as he moved with deliberate slowness. Both to keep the noise of his footfalls down, but also to not make an annoying clatter if he accidentally bumped into something.
He kept his eyes and ears open for anything that might betray his prey's position as he slowly sneaked through the warehouse. |

The warehouse proper was nothing but row after row of rickety metal shelves stacked to the roof with containers. Occasionally, there was a gap in the wooden 'walls' big enough for a person to fit through. A shiver ran down Volinir's spine as he heard the creak of a loading crossbow. He swallowed and looked down the line of boxes, slowly creeping along the ground on all fours.
He had to get around him. Then he could either creep out the door, or sneak up behind him. The Symenestra spotted a gap and quietly slipped through it; almost. As he was clearing the shelf, his foot bumped against the punched metal, a faint knock echoing off the walls and boxes. The bottom fell out of Volinir's stomach.
"Shyke..." There was a chance that the echos would make it difficult to pin down where exactly the sound was coming from, but not one big enough to stake a broken knife handle on. If he stayed where he was, he'd likely be found, and either be shot again, this time somewhere vital, or chased down. Going back made being shot even more likely. As such, there was little he could do but keep going forward, towards the center row splitting the warehouse in half. Whatever he found there would decide his next move. |

For moments Giph snuck around in the complete silence of the warehouse, checking the ground for any spots of blood that could have fallen on the ground, keeping his eyes and ears open for any sounds or passing shadows that could tip him off where the freak was hiding out.
Suddenly a soft metallic sound bounced through the warehouse. With the deafening silence though it could as well been as loud as a thunderclap and not made any difference. A feral grin made its way on the young man's face at the sound and began to sneak over towards where he thought the sound came from. He had to force himself to keep his cool and restrain himself to stop himself from hurrying He didn't want any chance of the freak finding out where he was before he put a bolt in the things body. He didn't want another close encounter with the freak and get another 4 neat lines carved into his body.
As he closed in on where the sound had come from he slowed down even more, made sure to try and even out his breathing and began keeping a firm eye out for any other sound or any kind of freaky shadows that might be his prey. He wanted to be completely sure it would him surprising the freak and not the other way around. |

At the gap was a single drop of blood. Volinir by that time had made his way to the center row, and had his back against the makeshift wall. A couple glances to either side of him gave him some cause for relief: Giph was nowhere in sight.
He slowly stood up and took a deep breath. It was time to go. If he didn't now, he might not have another chance. He closed his eyes for a couple seconds, then dashed for the door, stealth be damned. |

Giph didn't notice the small bloodstain at all, hidden as it was in the shadows. But when volinir broke out in a run for the exit he would have to be deaf not to notice that. He knew that if he didn't move fast he would lose the trail on the freak and then he probably would never find him again. So he abandoned his stealthy approach and made a break towards the only place where the freak could be running to, the exit.
He gritted his teeth and pushed himself as much as he could as he ran through the labyrint, taking what he thought the shortest way towards the exit, hoping to intercept the running freak. Or if that wasn't possible, at least getting a shot off at the retreating freak, hopefully hitting him somewhere he would slow the thing down without killing him. He really didn't what to drag the body to the nearest canal to get rid of it.
As if rhysol had a hand in it he managed to arrive at the exit at more or less the same time then his prey, his face red of the exertion. He shouldered his crossbow and shot the bolt at the fleeing freak. If he managed to hit him, well he would give rhysol a few extra offerings. Because he probably interviened in the mess. |

A loud clang and a fly of sparks as the bolt bounced off a storm drain, the scrape of gravel, the rapidly dimming thud of frantic footfalls, a flash of tarnished silver, then nothing. The Symenestra was gone, leaving Giph alone in an empty warehouse. In some other block of the city, angry voices sounded. Evidently he wasn't the only pursuer, but they were somewhere else, far away, and likely as lost as he was.
A couple drops of rain began to fall as the noises died down to nothing. Volinir had escaped. For now. |
