Stretching northward along the coastline of the Suvan Sea, the Cobalt Mountains are the home of the Bronze Wood, numerous ruins, and creatures both strange and fantastical.

Hunting and gathering (solo/work)

The 29th day of Summer, 512AV

Evora rose early and gathered her things. She packed the last of her food into her backpack, filled her quiver with arrows and filled her waterskin. She planned to spend the day in the woods hunting and gathering.

She met Sora outside, her beautiful desert breed. He was grazing some grass outside her tent. Evora walked over to him and stroked his head gently while muttering words of encouragement in Nari. She wasn't a great rider but he was a good horse and always tried to make the ride easy. After last checks Evora finally pulled herself up onto Sora. She could feel him underneath her, excited for the ride. He wasn't suited to standing in fields all day.

They rode from the city towards the woods. The sun was warm and a light breeze blew over the fields. They reached the forest and began riding deep. At some areas Evora had to get down and lead Sora through the dense forestry. By mid day Evora had finished the food in her pack and was ready to do some work. She left Sora in a clearing where he enjoyed the sun and grass. Evora didn't bind him to a tree. If he left it was his own business. She would keep no animal against their will.

Deciding foraging would be most productive and possibly lead to game, Evora began seeking out ediable roots and plants. She knew them well in the area from her travels and quickly filled her sack with berries and fruits. Her prediction that foraging would lead her to game also proved correct. Delighted she found some roots that only grew near water and there, beyond the foilage, was a river and by the river some wild boars enjoying the sun and water. Evora raised her bow and crept as close as she dared. She took aim at a particularly fat pig and wasting no time took the shot. And missed.

It was a chaos of squelling pigs and arrows as Evora let them fly in a desperate attempt to kill at least one of the animals.
Once the pigs were all gone Evora rose and surveyed the land. It lay scattered with her arrows and she managed to pick up three that weren't broke or splintered. A forth lay burried in a pig. The beast was not dead, forcing Evora to silence it. Then she inspected her kill. It was a young boar who had been too slow. More a matter of bad luck for the pig rather than skill of the bow, yet Evora felt some pride in the kill. Considering where the arrow had lodged itself it would not be a great cut of meat but it'd do.

Evora filled her waterskin at the river and then hefted the animal on to her back, soiling her clothes with its blood.

On her way back to Sora she also managed to shoot a rabbit. She had gotten better at reading and shooting the small creature but still ruined the meat with her arrow. She didn't mind it though. It'd taste the same once she cooked it.

Reaching the clearing, Sora greeted her happily. Evora put the pig onto Sora's back and rather walked along side him. She would make her coin at the butchery and eat a feast of rabbit and berries that night. Satisfied she lead Sora down towards the city.
