Stretching northward along the coastline of the Suvan Sea, the Cobalt Mountains are the home of the Bronze Wood, numerous ruins, and creatures both strange and fantastical.

Sitting, Waiting, Wishing (solo/work)

45th Day of Summer, AV 512

Evora had been sitting in the tree for an hour already. She was tempted to sing with the birds but knew if she wanted any sort of prize she had to be quiet.
Her arm was beginning to cramp from holding her bow in place and a cool breeze kept her motivated.

Evora had thought that perhaps she would have more chance surprising gaming from above than creeping after them all day, but had over looked the fact that it would require her to sit and wait for a very long time for game to pass by underneath her, and even then she wasn't a great shot. But Evora was too stubborn, even in her own company to admit that it was an impractical method of hunting so she sat and she waited.

Evora gasped and sat up straight. It was a deer and her foul bellow her and her heart almost stopped. Of all the luck in the world. She took a careful aim at the doe but couldn't stop her hands from trembling. She took a deep breath so steady herself but it didn't help. Gone.

She had hesitated for to long and the doe was moving on with her foul. Cursing under her breath Evora started to descend from the tree, cursing the tree itself. She ran after the deer keeping a safe following distance so not to spook the animal and tried to keep her feet as light as she could.

The animal stopped again and Evora had a feeling it was aware that she was following. She crouched quietly behind a tree and waited. After a moment of pause she raised her bow again and took aim. And it ran.
Evora pursued the animals again, racing after them while minding her distance. She was not going into town today without at least one of the animals.

She crept slowly as the deer came to another pause. She took aim and this time not wasting any time, took the shot. She hit far off form her mark, taking the deer in the leg and it shot off again. Evora sprang up with excitement and charged after the animals. She was so close and the creature wouldn't get far with an arrow in its leg.

The doe made quiet an effort but Evora caught up with it. Taking aim and firing quickly she missed, but it didn't matter. She loaded her bow again and took a second shoot that brought the beast down. The foul dashed off. Evora wondered if she should go after the foul but turned her attention rather to her kill. Evora glowed with pride. It was the first kill that hadn't felt like an accident and that had felt like real hard work. Evora was out of breath and wiped sweat from her brow with the back of her hand.

She grabbed the animal and placed it in a large sack. When she had fit the entire thing in the sack she pulled it over her shoulder and walked hunched under the dead weight of the animal all the way back to the city to sell her kill.
