Time Stamp: Day 14, Fall, 512AV Location: The Infirmary and the Ravaged Aeries Walking down the long hall, Syrin sees a elderly man wearing a dirty white lontev walking towards him. Suddenly, the man stops, brings his arm up to his mouth, and starts coughing violently in the hallway. Concerned by the severity of the cough, he jogs over to him and asks, “Is their anything I can help you with, Sir.” Syrin notices the blood trickling down from the side of his mouth. The old man glances up at him and sees the talon sword hanging by the young man's side. He shakes his head and says to him with a sneer on his face, “Don't call me Sir young master. Nobody of your high status would ever call me Sir. Just leave a dying man alone in peace.” Syrin nods to him, but he is confuse at the old man refusal to accept a courtesy, and he looks at the man and says to him, “I'll go and find you a healer. Maybe they can treat your illness.” Syrin turns to leave and a rough hand grabs his arm. The man looks at him with a smile, but he shakes his head. He says in a soft voice, “I know you don't understand yet, young master, but the healers of Wind Reach only have time to treat Endals and Avora.” The man spits blood on the floor and gives him a grim bloody smile. He says with a hiss of anger, “They would rather leave a bed empty than treat a Dek. I worked the Inner Warrens around the aeries all my life, and the all the Endal know me by name, but if I am sick or bleeding on the ground, they would rather walk over my corpse rather than have the audacity to stop and see if I am OK.” Syrin looks at the old man in horror as the Dek tells him his sad story, but before he continues the old man looks at him in the eye and interrupts him, “Young master the winds of change are coming to Wind Reach, and eventually the Endal and the Avora will finally have to look at us in the eye. You should never come to the city” The Dek slumps to the ground and starts coughing violently again the hallway. The old man starts waving him off as the coughing fits grow worse. Syrin takes a deep breath and says to the old man, “I'll see if I can convince someone to help you. If I can't, I'll see if I can get you some water at least.” The old man snorts a laugh of disgust through his coughing fits as Syrin turns and walks down the hall to the Infirmary. When Syrin makes it to the door of the infirmary, he opens the door and walks into a large room with high ceiling. He looks up at the stained glass windows on the ceiling. He smirks to himself when he sees a image of tiny white eagle flying through the glasses' light blue sky. He turns his attention back to the room, and he sees a young woman with red hair tied up in a tightly braided bun. She turns when she notices his eyes on her. While walking toward him, the young woman gives him a smile and a looks him over. She says to him politely, “You don't look sick or injured Sir. Can I help you with anything?” Syrin looks over the young healer noticing the two gnosis of Rek'keli on her person. He knows from the description of Endal Aidara this woman wasn't her, but he decides to tell her about the old man in the hallway. He notices an older man by a occupied bed watching him, and he says to the young woman, “Hello my name is Syrin Heron and I am looking for Endal Aidara. I have to ask her about a few questions about something...” Noticing Syrin trailing off, the woman eyes perk up in curiousity and she says to him, “If you have a embarrassing rash, I can help you with it. I understand if you want to keep it well... hush hush.” Syrin eyes go wide and he laughs out loud, “No no I am perfectly fine my question isn't medical at all.” He sees her frown slightly and says to him, “Well that is too bad..., but Aidara is busy right now. You should make a appointment with her and come back tomorrow.” Syrin nods in understanding. He is sure the doctor is busy with patients, and she has no time to talk to him about people who are not alive. Remembering the old man in the hallway, Syrin looks at the young doctor and says, “While I was coming to the infirmary. I walked by a old man dressed in a dirty lontev. I think he called himself a Dek, but anyways he was coughing up a storm and when his fits were over. I noticed blood dripping from the sides of him mouth.” The young woman frowns and suddenly looks to the older man. Who is listening to them now. Syrin continues telling the young woman about the sick man, “I was wondering if you could treat him. The man looks like he has one foot in the grave already, and he said he was refused treatment. I don't understand much about Wind Reach, and its customs yet, but is that true? If it is true can I least have a glass of water to give him?” The young woman eyes shoots towards the older doctor, and Syrin notices he is shaking his head at her. She gives him a angry scowl and looks back to Syrin with a weary smile. She says softly, “Let me see if I can talk to Aidara about the Dek. I can't promise you anything, but I can at least promise you a pitcher of water.” She whirls around and goes talk find the doctor called Aidara. |
