Basic Information Physical Description While tall and muscular, Eryndar's musculature takes on a much less bulky nature than most commonly found amongst the bodybuilders of his kind. His chiseled and well-trained features betray years of hard work and dedicated honing of his body, though the focus has turned more towards endurance than sheer muscle power. This Akalak is lean--tall and strong in body with his seven-three feet (7'3'') and two hundred and fifty pounds (250). His deep red skin is smooth to the touch, with the exception of his hands and arms--they are rough and the skin is coarse, in many places carrying scar-like formations of skin which look to be the remnants of severe burns. The shade of his skin is so deep that it can easily be mistaken for black in poorly lit environments, though otherwise stands out perfectly for proper identification. His youthful, sharp-featured face is adorned with two bright--very bright emerald green eyes. His eyes are thin, giving him a pretty permanent look of focus or frustration (or both). Character Concept & Personality Eryndar is a pretty chill fellow. At least on the surface. He's very reluctant to open his self and soul up to even those who come closer to him (and this is a rare enough occurrence), much preferring to keep interactions short and shallow if he can help it. Struggling to maintain his composure in a society that demands progress, perfection and discipline all at once, Eryndar found himself distanced from the rest of his kind and sticks to the wilderness surrounding his native home while pondering and honing his body and mind in peace, away from the watchful eyes of his peers, family and elders. He honours and respects his heritage and the traditions of his kind, spending most of his waking time to further perfect his craft and mold his mind and body in preparation for his Rite of Passage. Many hours of his day are spent running through the wilds and following the paths of wild creatures. Sometimes he can spend several weeks tracking the same flock of beasts, keeping tabs on its members with his limited knowledge. When he's not running and hunting, he dedicates time to his craft--blacksmithing. While he will always act with passion and dedication, his one true passion in life at this point would be his craft. He enjoys the thought of creating, using his own two hands, molding and shaping iron after the image in his head. Once he's got a project going, he pours his heart and soul(s) into it and often grooms his creations long past their completion--tinkering with the smaller details and designs. He often finds his own creations to be beautiful in their own right and has come to enjoy that sort of beauty, often admiring the works of his peers should he come upon them. This also means he grieves poor creations. The weapons or items you make with your own hands, in the end, are going to tell others a lot about you and who you are. His second half, Castien, is an odd fellow. While he doesn't spend a whole lot of time in the "sun", so to speak, he's always there in Eryndar's mind. Castien doesn't really enjoy remaining silent for long and is quick to pass judgement of mostly everything and patronize Eryndar when he's little else to do. Castien is a large cause for Eryndar's silence--it's a very thorough and will-shaking identity crisis. While Eryndar has long since accepted the existence of his other self, coming to terms with him is a whole other matter. Castien is less passive about things than Eryndar will ever be, often emerging at times of great stress for Eryndar. Castien reacts violently, though this doesn't necessarily mean he'll lash out into physical violence. His violence is rather emotional. Castien takes what welled up emotions Eryndar fails to deal with and shoots them out in whatever way he sees fit. Yelling, snarking, sneering or plain insulting or threatening are common for when Castien happens to show his face. Notably, when Castien comes forth, Eryndar's bodylanguage changes entirely. His expression turns more smug with a sneer seeming to paste over it and his stance grows much more confident and, in some cases, imposing. Eryndar and Castien have in common the intense passion that they can pour into what they're doing. Eryndar is more discreet about it, remaining silent and reserved even when expressing his innermost desires. Castien has no such restrictions, far from shy or reserved. He's straightforward, blunt something of a daredevil in comparison. Character History Almost thirty years ago, Eryndar was born. His birth caused many complications for his mother who steadily weakened in the days to follow, eventually passing away from the strain it put on her body. She had been one of the Inarta, Eryndar was told, though there was nothing about him in growing up that could've possibly hinted towards the heritage from his birthmother. After the death of his female parent, his father and older half-brother saw to raising him into the Akalak society and mentality. Even at a young age, Eryndar was quiet and reclusive. He quickly learned how to follow instructions and his thoughts were dedicated to putting a proud smile on his father's face even as a cub. His first seven years were spent coveting his father and idolizing his half-brother in silence, following their leadership and training programs. He didn't really have much of a will of his own at the time, preferring to be the silent follower above all else. This didn't change until Castien came into the picture, around the time he was eight years old. This was a very stirring event for the young boy, a voice emerging from the depths of his mind and urging him on in tracks he would never dream of pursuing. From this point on, it wasn't so uncommon that the otherwise peaceful Eryndar would turn into the violent and crude Castien, condemning the rest of his family and especially his father the first few times he emerged. All of Eryndar's pent-up and suppressed emotions towards his father found their way out through Castien as a medium. Much to Eryndar's surprise, Castien's appearence didn't seem to shock or startle his father or half-brother much. They seemed to be rather relieved at the appearence of the second personality. Since then, the relationship between Eryndar and his family has been strained. The respect and family bond has never waivered or teetered to the brink of being broken, but the coming years after the emergence of Castien became much more rough on Eryndar when he was continuously pushed to his limits over and over again in order to prompt the appearence of Castien. In short, Eryndar's father hoped to foster a good relationship with both of his son's personalities, thinking this would further enable Eryndar to come to terms with his other half and second self. The trauma and stress from the intense pressure he was subjected to somewhat countered the efforts of his father's, however, though he did get into many deep and long conversations with his second self earlier than most would expect. The Rite of Trial went by smoothly for Eryndar. He and Castien found a sort of harmony in the heat of everything, Castien remaining idle while Eryndar stood for the physical action when he and a few other boys from Riverfall wen to take down a Glassbeak. Eryndar and a few others came out unscathed for the most part, save a few scratches and bad bruises. Two boys, however, passed away in the heat of battle. This was the first time Eryndar had been forced to witness something to the effect, though it didn't startle him so much at first. He and another of the boys helped with carrying the bodies of the dead back to their families so they could perform the appropriate rites, should they wish for it. Later, the night after the Rite was completed, was the first time since adolescent years that Eryndar shed tears. And, for once, Castien didn't seem to have anything to say about it. He did emerge, however, to let Eryndar mourn in peace and away from the rest of the world. This was the first time that Eryndar and Castien truly found common ground to stand on, though that wouldn't happen again in a very long time. The success of the Rite was celebrated amongst family, Eryndar remaining placid and silent as always throughout the entire joyous evening. The following years, he spent most of his days practicing with his half-brother. Once he reached his mid-teens, he first discovered the joys of creating. He got hold of a knife and a chunk of wood, carving out the image of his mother as his father had first explained her. This small figurine was buried in a patch of dirt behind his father's residence in the city of Riverfall and, to Eryndar's knowledge, should still remain there to this day. In the years to come, Eryndar continued to hone his body and mind in preparation for the next Rite, the Rite of Passage. He practiced in the fields to strengthen his body, using his newfound love for crafts to get into blacksmithing. He spent many days and hours in the forge, shaping and honing the metal for whoever would need it. He built tools, poorly shaped weapons and ingots for use in weaponcrafting and for making armour. He earned his father a bit of coin by his hobby, keeping very little for himself. Once Eryndar reached the age of twenty-five, he decided to take his training out of the great city. He gathered up enough supplies to survive and make a living out in the wilds, leaving the city behind and only returning on occasion to sell his spoils or gain access to the forge to continue building his skill and channel his passion once in a while, when woodcarving out in the wilds just wouldn't cut it all the way. Eryndar came upon the Drykas many times while out in the wilderness. It was from them that he gained possession of a Cyphrus Strider, the stallion becoming a loyal companion of the young Akalak since then. It seemed the horse had taken a liking to Eryndar after the first few meetings between man and steed (or young horse, at the time), it even allowing him onto its back despite the imposing figure and sheer size of the man. Since then, Eryndar and his horse have travelled alone across the Sea of Grass, managing themselves and occassionally joining the Drykas on their hunts whenever they would come upon eachother. ... And that's where he's at now. Still staying in the plains with his steed. Skills
