Plot Notes for Xavior's character: Shadow, Xavior's past form Zith. In the beginning he was part of a roving gang of ziths who were the more violent types and didn't care for civilized life. Even Xy was to civilized for their flavors. They lived in the plains of Cyphres and hunted Drykas. They were one of their more favorite game. Shadow, however found a Drykas woman that interested him greatly. Her fierce attitude as well as skill with a bow intrigued Shadow and made him stalk her mostly out of interest. The two began to grow closer to each other and shared hunting techniques as well as taught Shadow how to use a bow and arrow instead of tooth and claw. One day, this girl introduced him to a god known as Leth. The woman told Shadow a story about Leth that seemed to mirror Shadow's life. Chaos and torture grew out of favor with Shadow and was replaced with time spent with the Dryka. Soon Shadow favored the woman and wanted to take her as a mate. The group Shadow ran with didn't like the idea and turned on Shadow. He was beaten and bludgeoned, forced to limp to where the dryka had been meeting with them. In a last stab of revenge, Shadow revealed the zith's hiding spot as well as their time schedule. The dryka woman told others and an ambush was in the works. While the ambush took place Shadow and the Dryka woman left Cyphres by wing and toward another wildlands. The dryka and Shadow made a new home in the wildlands where they spent their days hunting and skinning fur to be sold in a near by town. Years later Shadow had become an alcoholic as well as an avid follower of Leth. Shadow's common nickname for the dryka was, "his own Syna". He protected her as his mate and put his body in front of numerous thieves and wild animals. Shadow became addicted to alcohol and began to roam around in a drunken haze more and more. But never once did he allow his feral nature to bubble up and harm the dryka. Many years passed before the dryka admitted she had not been faithful. The dryka was pregnant with his kin when she left him to live alone. Shadow in a fit of solemn anger asked her why she was doing what she did. She replied with, "the hand of Leth guided me to another." Shadow shouted as she left, "Did he guide you to use me too?" Distraught, Shadow fell deeper and deeper into a depression and began to drink at a local tavern. He could still smell the scent of his mate as she moved along within the city as well. He had the option to murder her mercilessly, however the hand of Leth wouldn't allow him. Many signs and omens were found by Shadow and made him stay away. On Shadow's final night at a tavern he saw a moth caught in a spider's web. He watched it as it was poisoned and wrapped in the spider's silk. He didn't think much of it until later that night. Within the tavern the atmosphere felt tense. Shadow began to drink and soon was drunk. It was at that time one of the patron's of the bar revealed that the dryka and her current mate had been slaughtered in the woods. (note* ziths have two children and depending on where I go with this perhaps one of them survives and meets with Xavior later on down the line.) Shadow denied any dealing with it but his words fell on deaf ears. The crowd began to brutally bludgeon and torture him. His wings were cut away and thrown into fire. Between painful yells Shadow uttered different prayers to Leth. Even as he was brutally garroted and revived seven times on the bar floor. Weak from the brutal torture he didn't fight as he was dragged out of the tavern and soon hung by the neck off a tree branch. All the while Shadow knew he was innocent. He kept praying to Leth for some show of mercy or even an indication as to who killed his mate and kin? A voice sung in his head as he reached unconsciousness, "This is what happens when you betray friends." It made sense to Shadow as he stopped fighting his death submitting to the fate he deserved. |
