Moving Forward... We still need all the destination cities filled in per each city column. Remember, you can't get from every city everywhere just by walking. So some cities will need only sea routes (such as islands, underwater cities, etc) and some will need both. Volunteers needed! What do you do? Pick an unfinished city and start filling it its destinations by looking at the world map and seeing where folks can get to if they have the ability to walk or sail. Grab the chart code, fill it out, and post it here so we can add it to the main project board! Then, when we have all the destinations filled out.. we'll go back and start working on timeing. This is a very good idea, but for it to work you'd have to include the speed via horseback, or on the list of horses put multipliers etc

Travel Time (Horse) Riverfall Syliras Kabrin Road 2812 mi 65-80 days In order to calculate the travel time for the Kabrin Road, I downloaded the Map of Mizahar's Cities and superimposed a grid over it using Photoshop. I then calculated the straight distance (using existing approximations) in terms of the grid, and then used this result to calculate the route as it appeared upon the map. I used the Sea of Grass Regional Map and the Syliras Regional Map as references as I drew out the path of the Kabrin Road. I hope that this calculation helps to further the project!

Are you kidding us? The existing lore...if you chose to actually read it states the only road that exists is the Kabrin. It goes from Zeltiva to Riverfall via Syliras. Most of the squiggles you made on that map have topo that makes road building impossible. Oh...there is a road between Wind Reach and Thunder Bay... but its very very seasonal.

Hmmm well that put us all in our places

Given that this is not yet finished, and I'm reading in between the lines that there has been some previous discussion not linked to here, can we first agree some baselines about the scale of the map and about how far it is possible to travel in one day - assuming for example flat ground. I'm not really sure how we can start to fill in the charts unless we have some agreed baselines to follow - and if I'm missing it in the Lore then please point me in the right direction, thank you!

To give an example, since Khal'iah posted last. 2812 miles Riverfall to Syrilas 65 - 80 days by horse, which would be 35 - 43 miles per day for most of a season without breaks.

Do we consider this reasonable? Yes I know, I've seen quotes for Striders doing 60mph when connected to the web, so a normal horse could do half that. On that basis the numbers look reasonable.

But... I also note that the Long Riders Guild (who I assume actually know what they are talking about - which I don't) suggest 20 miles a day average for 500 mile plus trips and that with the horse being grained. Now I'm not a horseman but that suggests to me that not being able to grain (and I can't imagine a 2,800 mile trip through the wilderness is going to allow you to do that consistently) is going to slow you down. Add in rest days and you slow down even more. As a side note they are a useful reference for people wanting to RP out such trips.

Followed by a 'Oh look, I just drew roads all over your lovely maps where no roads could possibly exist because I'm a bold twit that has no concept of development or whats actually in the regions I just used MS Paint to crudely color all over...' I am allowed to drop a 'Are you kidding us?!?!" once in a while.
