Name: Abase/Irist Race: Akontak Age: 36 Birthday: 17th of Spring, 477 AV Gender: Male
A body shared Abase stands at 7’0’’, boasting the build of his Akalak ancestors. His silver is kept short, and finely detailed muscles accent his back and shoulders, a gift bestowed from long hours each day honing his physique. Given the Akalak and Konti blood that courses strongly within his veins, Abase appears to be in his mid twenties. A man at the pique of his physical fitness, Abase walks with confidence with his head held high, dark green skin boasting several scars earned through his rights of passage. The mark of Avalis' first Gnosis rests on the back of his left shoulder, a single lily in bloom that tells of the ability to read the Chavi of the past.
Names Gifted to Us When Abase was born his mother knew that he was neither Konti or Akalak, but rather he was one of the rare few Akontak. Though in her eyes he was already special for being her son, she knew that she must gift him a name that would be worthy of his noble heritage. So she dove into her knowledge of the ancient tongue and chose a name that she hoped would help guide her son along his path. She named him Kasaiabase, the beginning of hope, for it was true that with the birth of an Akontak there comes a new hope for a brighter future for both parent’s races. Knowing of his true nature she also gifted her son with his dark brother’s name as well. She named him Djasirist, the veiled speaker, for she knew that he would one day come to whisper from the shadows in his brother’s ear. It was her hope that by naming both at birth she could promote a unity for both of her son’s personalities. In this way she wished for Djasirist to know that he held as much of her love as his light brother did. In time as the Akontak aged both personalities began to shorten their names to simply Abase and Irist, and while they do not agree on every matter, both try and live in harmony with the other. Whether this is due to a wise mother’s love and choice of naming, however, it is still unclear.
I am Abase Calm and slow to anger, Abase holds high morals and believes that the ends DO NOT justify the means. He holds fast to the teachings of his mother’s people, and firmly believes that it is better to help and defend than it is to step forth and challenge and disrupt the peace. He does not often voice his opinions loudly save for times when he must, but he is always kind, patient and well mannered in all but the most grievous of situations.
Through some twist of fate, or perhaps due to his mother’s blood running strong within this light brother’s soul, Abase finds he enjoys the arcane arts over the straight forward methods of his father’s people. While Abase holds sway over his shared body he often relies upon his magical prowess, holding a deep and insatiable curiosity for the arcane arts, despite their forbidden nature.
I am Irist While calm, Irist’s fuse is much shorter than that of his light brother’s. He is strong in the way of his father’s people, and though he cannot be said to be savage he is blunt and to the point. In his mind the end DOES justify the means, and so he will do whatever it takes to see that any task is completed. Abase’s morals hold some sway over Irist’s actions, but when push comes to shove Irist goes for the quickest and simplest method of success. Cold and calculating, this dark brother will not hesitate to take a life if it is the simplest solution.
Unlike his twin soul, Irist holds more fascination in the ways of the physical body. Often it is he that pushes their body to the limits, striving for a higher level of physical prowess and physique. At times Irist acts as the voice of confidence in the pair, letting their opinion ring out when Abase cannot do it himself. While he might not be the dominant of the pair, Irist’s opinions and voice is heard nearly as often as Abase’s.
A Soul United Perhaps it is due to their mother’s wisdom in naming both at birth, or perhaps it was the stern teachings of their Akalak father. Whatever the case both Abase and Irist well understand the need for balance and harmony. Over the years Abase has come to realize his weakness, and he has also come to accept that at times Irist’s way is the better of the two paths. Irist has come to temper his own raging wants and desires under the calming clarity that is his light brother’s aid, and while he still holds fast to his individuality he also accepts that Abase can be right at times as well.
Both hold fast to the teachings of their people, and both souls hold nearly equal time over their shared body. Abase pushes them to better their mind and wisdom through study and perseverance. Irist strives to better their body and increase their strength, and so he pushes the boundaries of their physical limits in an attempt to shatter them completely.
Abase and Irist are still growing in their understanding of what it means to be in harmony, and so they still squabble and fight at times over the rights to hold sway over their body. Both respect the other’s ideals and opinions, but by no means to they whole heartedly accept them. Discussions and internal debates are a common occurrence as the two try and find a middle ground, and when none can be found Abase’s rule often overshadows his dark brother’s. In all both still have some growing to do, and they realize this as well.
What we have seen Abase and Irist were born to a Konti healer and an Akalak weaponsmith. To both father and mother the offspring they sired was a surprise, and special precautions were taken in order to ensure that their progeny was well cared for. After much debate it was decided that their son would be passed between the two cultures so that he could experience both in their full. Abase’s father convinced his mother that he should care for their son for the first 15 years, up until his Right of Trial, to ensure that Abase would learn and grow to understand his Akalak heritage, and to instruct Abase and Irist in how to harmonize their twin souls.
Fifteen years past in what seemed to Abase’s father like the blink of an eye. The child was allowed to visit the mother every summer, but for the majority of his first fifteen years of life Abase knew only of his father’s people. When it came to his Right of Trial Abase excelled due to the help of his dark brother Irist who saw to it that both escaped the challenge with only two new scars upon their left shoulder and back. After this first right of passage Abase went to live with his mother in Mura, and while he was there he discovered his strange fascination with the arcane arts. Though he did not share his mother’s talent in healing, Abase excelled in the arts of morphing. Both of these subjects fascinated him, and even his dark brother Irist discovered that he had an interested in the personal magic of flux.
At the age of 30, fifteen years after going to live and learn from his mother, Abase returned to Riverfall and his father’s people, and there he completed his Right of Passage and became a man in the eyes of his Father’s people. Having spent equal time with both his mother and his father’s people, Abase decided he would do best to travel the world and see what more he could learn in the hopes that his destiny would reveal itself. After all, he reasoned, he was born an Akontak for a reason. The last five years Abase and Irist have been traveling about the land of Mizahar, searching for some purpose in life that they know must be out there.
For our time in Mura Abase spent fifteen years in the home of his mother, taking of the vision water and their magicl properties. As a result he has developed his own gift: Talent Sensing. At a touch Abase/Irist can sense the greatest talents of those their fingers grace. The range of their senses can go beyond mere talent with swords. Then can even tell if a person specializes in a particular field of magic, and if a person is talented at dealing with their own emotions they could sense that as well. However, this gift only picks up on talents that the other person feels is their greatest quality, and at times this can be misleading. |
