On the outer edge of Avanthal, the Makutsi Springs are full of mystery and steaming water. There are a total of six pools and each pool is set up in a fashion akin to stairs; if too many individuals are crowded into a spring, water flows over the sides and adds a spike of cool to the one located below. Though hot, the liquid has not been known to cause burns of any degree. Located at the bottom, directly in the center, a tiny hole is found. Not large enough to risk endangering anyone. A strange moss seems to grow on the sides of the pools. This provides a cushion for individuals who sit in the springs and also helps them to relax. Caused from the moss, the Makutsi Springs constantly smell like a mixture of lavender and chamomile. The moss keeps the pools a glowing crystal blue. Visitors claim tiny frogs live in the waters. Akin to its name, the Makutsi Springs are believed to have been created by Makutsi, the goddess of rain, rivers, water, springs, lakes, and oases. The goddess had been known to create miraculous occurrences, like such, and the springs were no exception. The Vantha have considered the springs a blessing after discovering them in 314 A.V. It is said a woman accidentally dropped a piece of jewelry in the Makutsi Springs and believed it was lost forever. Several days later, however, the necklace appeared in a completely different pool! With this in mind, the elders decided to investigate. An Icewatch Patrol was sent out into the wilderness to find any other springs of this sort. A small handful were discovered within a reasonable proximity to Avanthal. While the patrol was on their mission, the elders experimented with the springs. They placed random objects in the water, always with the date, and watched as they disappeared. Several years passed where the elders managed to only send a small handful of objects to themselves. Unexpectedly, a reply appeared in one of the Springs! Their neighbor to the south, the Spires, had found one of their messages. After multiple messages sent and received, the elders declared the single pool off-limits to bathers. This hot spring is surrounded by a fence. The destinations of the other pools have yet to be discovered. It takes approximately three days for a message to be sent to the Spires and only elders may do so, unless there is an emergency. Moderator's Note: This location does not require moderation, though items to be acquired from the springs must first be cleared with a storyteller. |
