This man had some skill, blocking his arm with his wrist but he kept his hands by-far too close together. That and the kidney shot was...expected. Xi snapped his forearm across in-front of him, hitting banir's fist with the whole force of his forearm , more than enough to deflect the blow. at the same time, zxi slid his right foot back slightly and pulled his arm in before whipping his entire body weight around into a sharp elbow aimed directly at banir's shoulder, not the temple, this wasn't a death match merely a lesson. If nothing else he was going to drive him the fact there there were at least thirteen different points Xi could strike with and that anyone could use but no-one had the balls to use.

"You keep your hands too close, try to widen them, also nice block using your wrist, but your forearm carries more mass and can deflect a punch easier. and now your going to take a hit for those two mistakes."

{training yard} A gentle giant and a quiet one. ( banir)

Postby Banir Ironwood on October 14th, 2012, 6:59 am

As Banir's fist sped towards Xi's right side he felt it hit too early to be his intended destination. Tracking Xi's movement it was easy to see what he was doing next. Though seeing it and blocking it where two different things, he had no time to block. Instead he flexed his arm, feeling the impact he staggered to the side but remained strong. Xi had hit a little too high and nicked his prominent shoulder bone, however he still got quite a bit of muscle. Thankfully after years of being hit by his father and the fight's he had been in. He was used to taking a hit, by Izurdin how he grew up? Banir was practically born to take a hit.

Stopping a moment with his arms up and ready he saw Xi had relaxed, at least enough to put in a few words. Slowly he relaxed himself, taking in the information slowly. Mulling it over in his mind, putting an image of using his forearm rather than pushing with his hand and deflecting with his wrist. It did make sense, the forearm did have more power. And that defiantly suited his style more than blocking with a hand. Though it did grant more control using a forearm would be faster and more effective. Nodding slowly as he kept thinking over and over in his mind about the application of the move. It sounded like sound advice.

Though Xi talked about getting hit? He didn't mind, besides he believed what didn't kill him only made him stronger. Standing fast Banir prepared himself to be struck. Banir had a small feeling that Xi was going to go for the stomach, but the chest would be a close second. And if he was feeling a little more cruel he'd go for the head. Looking at Xi with calm white eyes, flaming red flickering around the outskirts of his iris's. Taking a breath he spoke. "Hit me, when your, ready." As a man who's been in more brawls than once, whatever Xi through at him, he'd be ready.

Xi rocked himself backwards and forwards on his feet just lightly to keep his momentum up, and take his mind off of the slight pain in his elbow. What was this guy made of ? Rolling his shoulder he fell back into stance before shifting his left foot back instead of his right, bringing his centre of mass towards his front right hand side.

"I think it's your turn to have the first move, show me what you can do, and taking a hit, well i'll make sure it's not lasting damage, also i know of a healer who could potentially help with your throat but we'll speak of that after. Right now, it's your move, start how you like but be prepared for a rther sharp pain. Even if your used to it." Xi smiled, fighters all of them had some tolerance to pain built uup over the years be it through trials, fights, hardship whatever all of them had some reliance, Xi's own was derived from the beatings he took a s a child having to walk on broken legs, lift with broken ribs...nothing came easy for him and now he was a harder man for it. Still this man before him felt like stone. Something Xi would have to work on. right now though Xi braced himself for the next attack this thime banir had a shot, and it was Xi's turn to counter, would banir take in the advice or just leave it by the wayside?

{training yard} A gentle giant and a quiet one. ( banir)

Postby Banir Ironwood on October 15th, 2012, 9:37 pm

Banir stood readied as he listened to Xi, quickly remembering what he had been told. The idea of getting his throat healed was a rather tempting idea, considering that just to open his mouth each morning was a literal pain. However when Xi told him to prepare for sharp pain, he honestly didn't care. As far as he was concerned pain was pain, some was worse than others, but in the end it was pain. Nothing more and nothing less, it was just another damn thing to deal with. Taking a quick breath he decided to speak. "I am, always ready. And a, healer, would be, appreciated."

Spreading his legs into a strong stance, his lead leg behind him as he prepared himself for the assault. He kept his arms a bit further apart, he had an idea. Moving quickly he charged Xi, using his strong legs to propel him at top speed as fast as possible. He just needed to regulate his breathing carefully, long deep breaths. As he quickly closed the distance he moved, stopping quickly and bringing up his leg. Bringing up his right leg and extending it like he was trying to hit again into Xi's left side. Weighted with the momentum of his charge, the kick was going to be powerful. However it was a feint, pulling his leg back in and adding that momentum into a turn. Twisting his top body around with a fist heading right for Xi's chest. White eyes lined with red now set ablaze as he locked onto his target. Muscles prepared for a counter, but his right arm had most of his focus. Thanks to the quick pull in from the kick, Banir's new punch would have a little more force than his kick.

In his mind before the assault Banir knew that Xi's arms where slower because of the armour Xi wore. However Banir was much faster without his, he had gone on runs before with his heavy cold iron armour. And right now his body felt light as a feather, meaning speed was his greatest advantage. No doubt Xi could have easily blocked the kick, and he would have prepared for that. But the fist would be a hell of a lot harder to stop, even if blocked all that force will have to go somewhere. And if he got hit hard with a counter, it'd be worth it, chances are his attack would do more damage.

pondering over the possible ways of attack from this man was a wonder he knew nothing of him, but he knew that this man had some skill in his righting days , and his body was made of denser stuff, perhaps Xi could get away with using a little bit of flux to train his own use. Then banir closed the gap, bringing up his leg, Xi took a half step back and let the kick sail around and past him, though as it missed Xi could tell something was off, there was no power behind it. Xi's eye's quickly scanned banir looking for some indication that he was right. Then Xi's eyes clocked onto banir's fist. a charge into a feint spin followed by a full power straight...Effective...however Xi was already formulating a counter in his head, and his muscles were reacting accordingly. As time seemed to slow down, Xi leant to the right opened his right hand and as the punch sailed closer Xi brought his arm up and around to latch onto banir's arm, holding tightly on banir's wrist. As the power of banir's punch dragged through the air Xi followed the force turning his body on his pivoting right foot.

"NIce move but spinning type attacks leave you open to heavy counters." As the force dragged Xi's body around he brought his leg up and into his chest tightly as banir reached the maximum extention of his punching arm, Xi's twisting body and tightly coiled left leg followed around and Xi's left leg snapped out like a gun shot, and aimed to bury it'self in banir's side right at the kidney level. Banir's attack would have hurt heavily however Xi's attack was covering a smaller distanc eand had a much much smaller margin for error. Especially since he was runnign almost parallel to banir and using a much longer limb to close the same distance, meaning more force would connect as when the heel of Xi's foot connected he could still drive at least an extra twwo inches of leg out amplifying the pain dramatically...

{training yard} A gentle giant and a quiet one. ( banir)

Postby Banir Ironwood on October 16th, 2012, 11:04 am

A single thought revolved in Banir's mind 'oh shyke' passed through as he recognized what was about to happen. He had prepared for this before hand and focused on defense, trying to think of a counter as he tightened his muscles to prevent as much damage as possible. He could feel each muscle harden, also realizing he wasn't breathing he took a quick breath letting life flow into him. He felt the blow to his kidney and by Izurdin it hurt. Stumbling away with one foot then another, his density of his skin saved him from worse damage. He could feel his rage growing a little in him, he needed deep breaths long deep breaths. If he didn't take these long breaths he wouldn't be able to prevent the first stage of his berserk rage. The thing he liked to call the Surge would happen next, he'd stop feeling pain, then he'd become stronger. It was useful, but the risk wasn't worth the reward.

He had taken Xi's knowledge to heart, trying to think of a new way to strike. So far Xi had blocked his strike to the kidney, and seen through his feint. The only advantages he had against Xi was his weight, speed, and body density. Xi had experience, height, and that's what he knew right now. Okay maybe he should start fighting like he did when he needed to survive. Now this was a spar, he shouldn't resort to deprived measures to ensure victory. Although it was tempting, he wouldn't disrespect his fellow fighter and current teacher.

With lack of ideas he decided just to go for an outright assault. Slowly he circled around Xi, keeping his arms a little wider, gaining some distance on them. His side hurt but it was a pain he could use to focus with, besides he wouldn't be where he was if he couldn't handle a little pain. Once the distance was far enough Banir went full sprint at Xi, his powerful legs propelling him far and fast. Once again the gap between them was closed, Banir had brought his dominate fist speeding towards Xi's face. Putting as much force behind it as he could muster, curious to see how he would block it. As well as the hidden second punch to Xi's lower gut, the second punch wouldn't have as much force. But even so if the blow landed it would leave a nice bruise for a week, maybe two. Banir had fallen for this move more than just a few times, he had seen even experienced fighters fall for it. With luck he hoped Xi would believe he didn't have the experience to pull this one off. Especially since he had favored his right hand throughout the fight, this should be more than unexpected.

Xi now had a template of a move set this man used the attacks weren't well plant or rather, thyey were well planned but not well thought out. That and Xi now hada grasp fo the man's pain tolerance. High, very high. Perhaps now Xi might be able to try out useing a new move of his, one that he'd bolstered with his flux. Having said that, this was a spar not a fight to the death nor for honour, there was no point in fighting at his FULL strength. As banir reeled back and gained some distance between the two, Xi regained his stance. And locked eye's on the man now circling him.
"i hope you don't mind if i teach you a move of mine i keep for strong opponents? Though this is it's second outing since it's division, so i hope you enjoy learning this. " Within an instant the air around Xi changed from his current cold feeling and now a slight heat burnt out of him, his stance changed slightly his right arm falling lightly to his right side, his left straightening and his body rolling sideways onto banir. His feet now firmly and fully planted his stance was grounded, stronger firmer, almost as if ready to take a battering ram. Or a monster on. Watching banir draw closer his arms motioned for a technique Xi himself used, if a little butchered it was still essentially the same a strike to the face and the stomach. however his attack required two things to work. Firstly an opponent who never knew of it, secondly, surprise. That technique was best used at the beginning of fights and against opponents with a shorter reach.

"Banir. I use that move, it isnt going to work. Not against this technique at least. " Xi's current stance rendered the technique useles as he would slip between the two fists easily, especially with the technique he was preparing. Now his voice sunk low as he spoke out a chant for his technique to help him focus not on the technique but the movement of his flux. He began to move the flux around into two groups of muscles at the same time, but only a very small amount of flux just enough to increase his speed to a notice able but not vast change. "The daggers of an angry rain...Arrow Black." Xi's flux began to travel to his right bicep, trickling in slowly like drops from a tap, and the second place of muscles he sent his flux was the left hand lower side of his torso, hi help roll his body around, right now hid right arm was wound like a coiled spring , letting the left hand of banir slid below his right hand side, and banir's right hand slid over the left side of Xi's face his fingers barely brushing Xi's beard, Xi unleashed his assault of a technique pulling his left abdomen muscles flux charged down quickly and exploding out his fist, whilst twisting his first one-hundred and eighty degrees to nap the punch out even faster, this blow as aimed at one point on banirs body he thought could take it his left shoulder. This force if it connected would be at Xi's full speed with the added weight of his vambrace behind it. This punch if it hit would feel akin to a drill burrowing into banir's shoulder from both the spin and the explosion out from Xi's side.

{training yard} A gentle giant and a quiet one. ( banir)

Postby Banir Ironwood on October 16th, 2012, 10:18 pm

Banir saw his attack fail before his eyes, letting his left hand become lost he saw an opportunity as Xi narrowly dodged his right fist. Quickly he remembered what Xi had done before, it would cost him taking whatever counter Xi was preparing. Time was short and he'd either just barely nick Xi's cheek or just catch his nose, but he didn't give a good damn. Moving quickly he bent his elbow, the elbow which had more speed and force than a punch. The force would be plenty to hurt but not to break a bone. It was another bruiser for his cheek, however if it connected with his with his nose. The hit would break cartilage easily, but actually break his nose? Depends on how well the hit went. This was a last second move, something he recognized because he had experienced it. Banir was not very smart, he was slow, occasionally dull witted. But when it came to fighting he learned as fast as any scholar trapped in a library.

He could feel a strong force on his shoulder like an enraged Isur had just used his smiths hammer on him with all force of his body. With several steps he staggered but did not dare take to a knee or weaver in his stance. And that was not his greatest challenge. He could feel his blood light aflame as his eyes steadily became filled with the rage filled red. The calm white gently fading as it was consumed like wood upon a fire. This was the worst task, restraining his rage was difficult, like trying to hold back one of the many fierce beasts of Taldera. Steadily as he fought he won the fight within, it was getting a little easier to hold it back.

Steadily he began to read what Xi had done, the impact was quite real and more than powerful. There was no way he had summoned that much force from technique alone. But that didn't matter, he had focused on the strike to the face a little too much. The sight though, he didn't have tunnel vision however, his peripheral vision had caught the basics and that's all he needed. It would be easy enough to do on his own, but he'd need more practice. His rage gave a light surge and he had to hold up his hand. "Wait, hold on I, need to, collect my, thoughts." He breathed slowly and gently trying to regain the control over his emotions. Red eyes burning bright beneath the shadow of his hood, slowly dimmed to the calm white once more. That was a little too close.
"Where life leads me, is where I shall go. The greater question is, who is willing to accompany me on such a long travel?"

XI felt the hand brushing his face now collide with it sending a stabbing shock of pain through him. He hadn't anticipated that blow nor had he anticipated the shocking resilience this man possessed, every blow felt like he was hitting a wall of stone. Though surprisingly the man before him asked for a moment to collect his thoughts... Either Xi's fist had really done some damage or there was something else he was dealing with, either way Xi obliged him and fell out of his stance for a few moments. Taking a few steps back Xi brought his fist up and began to rub the back of his and and across his knuckles lightly, not because the hurt but to check there was nothing broken. To his relief holding back his power had done the trick, by not using more than a percentage of what he normally put in, he had achieved the same results by applying the flux to more areas of his body...Good. I'm learning and this test was a success

Xi now began rolling his shoulder, his default stance, was his focal point, it offered a clean switch to any of the other five stances he needed, all with minimal energy and time expenditure between switches. Xi took some slow deep breaths to quiet his mind and recondition his inner self.
"You adapt well, attuning yourself to the situation before you in....unexpected ways. Though i can see that you fight wildly, you've no core to your style, not even a coherent stance. i said i'd teach you after assessing your strength. Now i'll teach you something to go with that impressive natural defence you possess. I want you to mimic my movements. Just tell me when you are ready." And give me a few seconds to work let my jaw stop pounding.

Banir could feel the pain in his shoulder steadily throb and grow. The best he could do for now was ignore it, pretend like it wasn't even there. Izurdin give him strength, he would not give into this pain no matter what it cost him. His brow was wet with sweat, it ignoring the damage and continuing on was something not easily done. Within his mind he could hear the insults echoing in his head, the old voice of his father. The pain of emotion it brought was something he could use to edge him on. As he collected himself he made sure he didn't dare show a sign of weakness. The mask of hood and scarf would hide the strain on his face. Giving his shoulder a light rub then a pat, he felt the pain flair in him. It just showed he was still alive, looking over to Xi he saw him rub his jaw. The smallest bit of pride struck him, this man was far more experienced than himself. He was smarter, probably stronger, and despite the pain he had taken. Despite the blows that had missed, he had managed to get him on the jaw. Not the most impressive strike, but he'd at least proven himself capable in his own eyes.

Standing tall and upright he dropped into his stance, legs spread, arms up and a bit farther apart than what he normally did. Taking a long and deep breath his body relaxing a little ready to receive something other than pain. "I am ready, to learn as, soon as you, are ready to, teach me." With a small silent groan he could feel his left shoulder click lightly. The bones in his left shoulder where jarred lightly, it'd heal in time. He watched and waited for Xi's next move, next instruction. Putting his mind to studying anything he had to offer. Even if it was just a more effective way to just shift his weight. He'd learn it and do what he could to make it his own.
