Built into the cliffs overlooking the Suvan Sea, Riverfall resides on the edge of grasslands of Cyphrus where the Bluevein River plunges off the plain and cascades down to the inland sea below. Home of the Akalak, Riverfall is a self-supporting city populated by devoted warriors. [Riverfall Codex]

Tobias smiled in truth this time. “That sounds perfect,” he told Malix. A single aquiline finger traced across the proferred paper. As Tobias read, he slowly came to the realization without thinking he had begun to hum a simple tune while his foot kept beat. Practicing for the new job? That was almost ironic.

The tune lulled as he finished reading. “I think I can come to an agreement with this ‘Aena’.” Tobias said wryly. “Thank you for your time and assistance, my friend.” and so Tobias left the Labor Aid, job flyer in hand, and a jaunty tune caught the air once more.

Well, ‘easier than expected’ is one way of putting it, he thought. But now it was time to see how the audition mentioned on the paper would go...

[Riverfall] The Citizenship, Housing, and Labor Aid Office

Postby Eida on September 8th, 2013, 1:43 pm

Fall 3th, AV 513

Eida didn't go out to the wilds now, she had enough for not doing anything. She had to take courage and and face with them. She was hesitating and the sun was coming up. She put up her hood and was standing in front of the office. This is the place what Vanator said to her she can get job and house.

Go in, go in go in. Her legs weren't moving. She must do something or she will go crazy in doing nothing and she also promised that she will do something helpful and help her father. She was also worried that she will be hotheaded.

She took a deep breath and she stepped in. There was a desk and a big akalak was sitting behind it. She walked there and smiled kindly. She was careful to not show her fangs to him. "..H..i... I mean hi!" She was nervous and tried to get her courage at once. " I want to ... I would like to find a job for myself and I would like to have a little house for myself."

Malin or Malix looked at Eida like she was odd. He didn't say anything for little time then he gave two forms Eida and he calmly said. "Please fill out the following…" She took it and checked. His voice was cool and Eida chilled a little bit too.

[Riverfall] The Citizenship, Housing, and Labor Aid Office

Postby Favchean Hronis on September 10th, 2013, 7:59 pm

Fall 20th, 513
Favchean Hronis enters the Labor Aid office with a quiet step, his pale blue eyes sliding across the interior taking mental note of each and every thing. It is not as if he has never been in here before, but it was time now that he had completed his Lakan and his Rite of Passage to fill out forms that would cement his citizenship, announce his chosen profession and buy his housing. It was time to act the adult that he was.

Moving across the room toward the desk, indeed he was asked if he was prepared for citizen ship papers or profession papers and he answered both, as well as looking to buy housing. Taking the ink and pen without much further ado, Favchean moves his muscular body to a chair and settles heavily down to fill out the paper work.

[Riverfall] The Citizenship, Housing, and Labor Aid Office

Eida:

It was terribly early in the morning and Malix's usual morning doze was just kicking off. No one ever came in so early, so her could catch a slight snooze before the day truly started.

No such luck today though as the sun brought a visitor in practically chimes after he'd unlocked the door. A bit put off by the hood, Malix studied the young woman, for it was clearly a female under there, as she filled out the form. She looked deathly pale and thin; not nearly robust enough for Malix to consider suggesting Nakivak status. When she returned her pair of forms, his eyebrows rose nearly to his hairline.

He hadn't seen a Symenestra in...well, quite a while, though she did have the redeeming quality of being Ethaefel. Still, the Symenestra side made his instincts churn with distrust, but he fought it down. She was a woman, she was welcome.

"Let's see for the, uh, housing..." Attempting to keep his face a mask of professionalism, he pulled a pamphlet for the Pearl House from the housing stack to his left. The Kontis there would look after her. "The Pearl House has an opening. A little apartment, furnished, and the landlords are quite nice. The smallest apartment is 500gm to buy." Slipping the pamphlet across the desk to rest in front of her, Malix then focused on her employment application. That one would be interesting.

Of all things though, gardening was not what he was expecting. He floundered for a moment, shifting through the stack of employment notices at his right. "Gardening...gardening..." The Menagerie briefly crossed his mind, before he remembered they had a Symenestra exhibit there. A little awkward. "Ah!" He exclaimed, pulling out a leaflet from the back of the pile. "Vyctoria's Conservatory. Just outside of the city, lovely place. Quiet, out of the way. They grow just about everything out there, and they're always looking for a pair of talented hands." Looking up happily, glad he found something, he slipped the paper in front of her. "You'll start out at 3gm a day, but you'll move up as you get more skilled at the work. What do you say?"

Favchean:

Malix was always happy to see one of his brothers walk through the door, and this time was no excepting. Discreetly studying the young man as he filled out his forms, the Akalak behind the desk took the back with a smile. "Welcome brother, what do we have today?" He spoke in cheerful Tukant, looking over the forms. Starting with the employment one, he pulled a well-worn pamphlet from the stack next to him. "For a weapons smith, I know just where to send you. The Arma'drex Smithy could use an apprentice, and they pay very well too. 8gm a day. If that sounds good, just head on over there and they'll probably give you a test to make sure you know what you're doing."

Moving on, he picked up the housing application. "Let's see...I happen to know for a fact that Windswept Condos has a couple open rooms; just sent a nice Konti girl up there the other day. Just go on up and talk to Allasta there; she'll set you up."

The final form came up and Malix nodded approvingly. "Kuvan status, eh? Glad to hear it. Not enough men getting their mark these days. Head on over to the Tuvya Sasaran and Ismail will test your competency. Assuming you pass, he'll give you a certificate to get your mark at Riverfall Ink. And that's it, the mark seals the deal."

Shuffling Favchean's papers to the side, he nodded respectfully across the desk. "Good luck, brother."

She was nervous when the akalak was reading her applications. But when he was calmly without any disrespect he was offering an apartment she has relieved. She took the pamphlet from the desk. The Pearl House, it had a pretty name. "Thank you, it will be perfect!" She accepted then the job.

He was thinking for a while then he gave Eida a leaflet. While she took a quick look at it she was listening what was he saying about it. He couldn't even find a better job for her. She was happy and she nodded and smiled at him, but still was careful to not show her fangs. "Yes! I'll take it! Thank you! Leth shall look after you at nights." She added as he wasn't acting like the other akalaks in Riverfall.

[Riverfall] The Citizenship, Housing, and Labor Aid Office

Postby Koa Pond on September 12th, 2013, 5:47 am

Koa entered the Labor Aid office early in the morning. He was rather tired and he was sure everyone else was just as sleepy. It was only the 6th bell of the day and he desperately wanted a bed to sleep in. More importantly he wanted a job to occupy himself with.

The Labor Aid office was relatively bland, compared to its neighboring buildings that were stocked filled with natural beauty. Still it was nice, and stuck to the ground, unlike Alvadas.

Koa smiled at the Akalak sitting at a desk, "Hello, I'm Koa Pond and I've come here to register for an occupation."

An Akalak handed a form to Koa, "Here you go. Fill this out."

Name: Koa Pond
Race: Human, Benshira
Age: 20
Relevant Skills: Jewelcrafting, Metalsmithing, Geology
Preferred Employment: Gemcutter
Expected Stay In Riverfall: 2 seasons at a minimum

Koa handed the slip over to the Akalak.

[Riverfall] The Citizenship, Housing, and Labor Aid Office

Postby Venya on September 13th, 2013, 6:00 am

2nd day of fall, 315 AV

The wooden door has a waxy feel to it as Venya moves to open it. She can't help but wonder what the point to that is. Maybe they like the feel of wax here? Does it rain so much here they want to keep the wood dry? Is wood really all that important. Her brain creates different questions for itself to distract her from the real task at hand. Getting a job. She isn't nervous, not really. Even if she was she wouldn't show it. She has been raised not to show weakness for those who are weak don't survive. Still, it is a bit nerve racking entering this building. She isn't used to the Akalak men around here yet. So very different from the human Inarta men she is used to seeing.

Upon entering the building she quickly sees the simplicity of it. There isn't much here, just the desk in front of her and a few other pieces of furniture plus the bulletin board. It looks as though an environment has been created for efficiency and that is all. There isn't much to distract the Konti woman's eyes, making her have to walk towards the desk and approach the Akalak man. She walks with an easy step, trying to keep herself composed and neutral as she makes her way to the desk. Inside her stomach twists with nerves. She is afraid there won't be anything in this city for her to do. While a possibly silly fear, it is still there. Burning in the back of her mind.

Venya is soon in front of the desk, barely hearing the muttering words of the Akalak before her. "Looking for a job," she answers him, watching as a formed is pushed her way. She gives him a small smile before taking the paper and moving over and taking a seat. She looks down at the form and fills out her information before she goes back to the main desk and the man. She hands the paper back to him. Allowing him to read it as she waits to see if there is anything for her here. She hopes there is, not wanting the fear in the back of her mind to be right.

[Riverfall] The Citizenship, Housing, and Labor Aid Office

Postby Alia Beaudouin on September 18th, 2013, 1:32 am

5th of Fall, 513

Alia quietly strode into the labor aid office, staring at her feet the whole time. As much as she was talkative and flirty, Alia hated not knowing what to do or say.
After the Northwind suites, this had been the first place she had visited since she had reached Riverfall.
Her mother, a proud Inarta, would have scolded her, Tsk tsk, she could imagine her mother saying,
An Inarta woman belongs in the glassworking business, not some silly musical industry.
Alia sighed heavily before walking up to the counter. She spoke to the Akalak man behind the desk,
"Job application please." The man handed her a slip of paper, and she started to write.

Postby Selva on September 18th, 2013, 10:43 am

Day2, Season of Fall, 513 AV
Selva arrived at the building fairly late in the evening, and was worried it might be closed. She walked up to the door and pushed it open. Upon entering the room, she stopped where she stood, and tapped her foot a few times to make some sound waves. Once her gift told her where the desk was, she walked up and asked the man behind the desk about employment. She was in turn handed a card, which she couldn't read. She asked the man to read her the words and she tried to fill it out as neatly as she possibly could.

[Riverfall] The Citizenship, Housing, and Labor Aid Office

Postby Hornet on September 23rd, 2013, 8:00 am

Hornet pondered the decision. Both possibilities were extremely enticing. In the Antiques Society, he would undoubtedly learn a lot about the way things had been, so it would provide excellent opportunities to appreciate how Harameus had changed the world. The membership fee was steep, but thanks to the possibilities for job progression, the eventual salary would likely be higher. The Antiques Society also required a wider variety of skills, so would provide more new experiences.

On the other hand, the people left messages at Message Square detailing the current situation in all its facets, and news would likely reach there first. If he wanted to figure out how things could change, and how he could contribute to that change, Message Square was the place to be. Also, Message Square had Wind, whereas the Antiques Society had no one who could come even close to that level of proficiency with letters. If he wanted to learn more about his chosen profession, he couldn't think of a better teacher then her.

The eventual decision was guided by a stunning realization. The goal of the Antiques Society was to create reliable records of the past. They tried to do so on the basis of whatever evidence they could find. They did not have the luxury of using the reliable evidence of the written letter. In fact, creating that would be exactly what he would be responsible for. However, if they used evidence that had been out there for a while, that evidence had undoubtedly been changed by Harameus himself. But if the evidence had changed, then what was the point of creating an unchanging record? How could you possibly be sure that the conclusions you were drawing were correct? Especially when there was no good way of determining the minute details of the events, when usually the little details guided change the most.

"I'll take the job at Message Square, please."
