Evening
It was that time again where people would set little lanterns on the water in celebration of Laviku and the ocean. It was personally one of Hana's favorite times of the summer season. Gale loved to watch the lanterns float on the water and to listen to people who occasionally brought instruments to play, however, he doesn't exactly come for the celebration. He always bought a lantern to place on the water but his main reason for coming was to, obviously, spend more time with the love of his life. After all, even if he didn't want to go, Hana could easily persuade him to tag along, which she has done before.
The couple were finding a nice place to watch their paper Lotus’ float away this year. The nineteen year old would normally have picked a quieter spot that didn't have as much chatter, but clearly his opinion didn't matter to him much when he was with Hana. She loved being with the crowd and dancing to the music if there was any. As a result, the duo ended up walking along a part of the shoreline where more people tended to be.
There were all sorts of people here. Families with children running around people's legs, groups of friends chattering and laughing loudly, pets running in the water and around the sand. It was a very pleasant sight indeed, watching the city and its people so happy. The ocean being lit but the paper floats only made everyone's smiles grow and beam. This also included Gale. For a man who doesn't normally have a massive smile, today would definitely be a treat for anyone who had seen Gale often.
The blonde was holding both lanterns carefully in his hands while Hana had her arms wrapping around his dominate arm lightly. She always insisted that they wear nice clothes to the festival, even though Gale never saw the reason why. But Gale never refused and had always worn his best clothes, even though they were never as extraordinary as his lover’s. Gale had owned a pair of black pants at this time, which he had worn only for special occasions such as this. The black looked more formal then his usual and more casual brown. He had also possessed a basic vest he would put over his white shirt. He had washed the white shirt to remove any dirt and grime that had collected on it since its last cleaning. For once, Gale had combed his hair, even though it didn’t help much with his usual bed head look he had.
Hana, however, looked like she was prepared to meet Laviku himself. Her softly curved body was wearing a gorgeous white dress that stopped just below her knees. The ruffles in her dress frayed out splendidly when she twirled or spun around. Unlike Gale, Hana had owned a pair of nicer shoes she had gotten from her older sister who had out grew them several years ago. They were white slippers that her sister had hoped she would wear for her wedding someday and not ruin them before then. He hair, which was usually either in two pig tails or two braids, was in one big braid that started with her bangs and went around to the back of her head as if it was being blown to the side by the breeze along the shoreline. Gale never failed to notice how her sun-kissed skin seemed to glow in the light during this time of day. No one could say the same for his own, however. Gale's skin clearly wasn't as exemplary as hers with his pale skin that he had inherited. Hana’s big brown eyes never failed to convince him to do anything she wanted, even though she never asked for much. Her shy smile was never usually large enough to show her teeth, but Gale adored it anyway.
“How about there?” Hana questioned, raising a finger to point at a spot had not been taken by anyone so far.
“Why not?” Gale shrugged, giving the short girl a smirk. She returned the soft smile and let go of Gale’s arm, taking her paper lantern from his hand. She slipped off her shoes so they would not get wet when she would set the lotus on the water. The pair headed towards the water to let their lanterns sail when Hana stopped and turned around.
A Mandolin player had started to play a faster paced tune near them, making Hana’s smile grow enough to show her small teeth, making her look like an innocent child.
“Gale! They are playing music this year!” She turned to him with excitement, her dress flaring as she spun quickly to look back at him.
Gale’s smile remained but it didn’t seem to show as much excitement as his lover did. “It seems they are.”
“Can we dance?” She questioned eagerly, her eyes wide in anticipation for his answer.
Gale chuckled,” How many times do I have to tell you that I am never going to be able to dance?” Gale questioned with a raised eyebrow and a smirk.
“Please, Gale?” Her bright but childlike attitude coming through. She stepped towards him, taking his arm again, “Please? Just one song.” She battered her brown eyes pleadingly at Gale.
Gale never had refused that look. He wasn’t able to refuse this time either. “Fine.” He said in a sarcastic annoyed voice.
Hana’s smile stretched from ear to ear as she giggled and practically dragged Gale way from the water and towards the music. The artist was barely able to keep his feet as he was pulled along. He set his paper lotus down in the sand next to Hana’s, who had stooped down to place it in their spot. After being in view of the Mandolin player, he saw there were actually three musicians, just that the Mandolin player was the only one currently playing. Each had a different instrument. Of course, the Mandolin player, a Fiddler, and a Flutist. Before Gale was able to give the group much more thought, Hana stopped, turned towards him, her hands sliding down his arm to his hand.
She started the dance off by turning away from him, her hand in his, then spinning back into his arms. The couple laughed as she unwrapped herself once again and Gale raising his arm, allowing her to twirl, her dress splaying out magically. Hana could very much be mistaken for an overjoyed child, given her size and attitude when dancing. She enthusiastically pulled herself up to Gale again, her fingers locked with his left hand and her left hand placed on his right forearm. Gale didn’t exactly have experience doing this sort of dance, and Hana wasn’t exactly the best either, but Gale place his hand on her waist, like he had been instructed so many times to do, without hesitation.
The two looked rather silly, prancing around in circles as the Fiddle and the Flute came into the tune that the song was playing. Gale couldn’t help but fumble around and almost trip several times due to his lack of experience. The brown haired lass, however, had very little trouble gliding over the sand. Even though she didn’t know many moves or styles of dancing, she still looked gorgeous prancing around like a doe, as happy as can be. With her eyes closed, she led Gale in a large circle of galloping, the artist having to lead her away from a few people once to avoid colliding with them.
Gale laughed at himself as he stumbled over his own feet once again, however, Hana letting go of his hand and arm and twirling in a circle by herself. Her head thrown back she laughed loudly, arms spread as if she were an eagle readying to take flight. After gaining his balance, Gale stood up straight, placing his hands on his hips, watching his loved one dance with sheer delight. The young lady’s head fell down as she stopped spinning but swayed her hips from side to side. Her hands were held high above her head, swaying along with her body.
Gale had failed to notice earlier that people had started to watch them. Some even clapping to the music or danced along with a partner briefly. This made Gale laugh. The cheerfulness that he was seeing today would make this day one he would never forget. However, his joyful smile softening to one of a man who was obviously in love. He watched Hana sway and prance around like he always did with his paper when he drew. She was like a dove dancing in the sky with the cloud. Gale always knew that Hana was one to be cherished but he hadn’t exactly thought about what they would turn out to be in the future. Whether it was just old friends or something more. At this moment though, Gale had officially decided that she was the one. You had to be a fool to not see the utter beauty that this young woman had possessed. If he was ever going to be given a gift from the Gods, she was it.
