Description:
Even though the Djed Storm of Spring 512 has come and gone, the effects of the terrible event still linger throughout Mizahar. Mount Skyinarta and Wind Reach were the epicenter of the storm but the mountain and the land surrounding it did not escape the aftereffects. The dangers of living on a volcano, even an inactive one, never seemed so real to the Inarta until the city began flying apart all around them. Thanks to the volatility of the Djed Storm, everything around the mountain seemed to change, and one of the most prominent changes was the landscape.
The volcanic eruptions that happened all over the mountain ridge in Northern Kalea were not natural ones, thus spawning unnatural results. Lava Geysers are one such thing. Here and there along the ridgeline, though mostly centralized in the area around Mount Skyinarta, the Lava Geysers add an even greater amount of danger to the already perilous Unforgiving.
Though they have calmed down somewhat as time goes on, the geysers are similar to their water and steam brethren, shooting up fountains of molten lava when the pressures below become too great. Of course, flying lava in any situation is dangerous. Most of the ones found throughout the landscape are on the smaller side, deep within the undiscovered depths of the wilderness.
A little ways away from the Sanikas Road leading from Wind Reach is the Hideaway. The largest of the lava geysers that resulted from the Djed Storm, this little anomalies has been the home of many different creatures and races of Mizahar, all of them seeming to stumble upon it in a time of greatest need.
Dry, burning heat radiates from the center, driving off most of curious wildlife and travelers that happen to stumble upon the place. Most of the plant life around the area has died off from the intense heat, though new and hearty plants can be seen sprouting up in the vicinity.
If one is able to make it past the waves of heat to the center, the actual geyser can be seen. Contained in a bowl-like formation of inky black, hardened lava, the molten stuff bubbles right on the surface of the land. Unlike a regular geyser, where the liquid is far beneath the ground, this geyser widened enough that the lava flowed to the surface; though the heat is more constant and intense because of this, it also greatly reduces the chance that a lava fountain will erupt.
It is the cave behind the pool of lava that gives the location its name. A hillock of pure rock covered in sparse but resilient vegetation, stands behind the geyser, the entirety of one of it’s faces opening into a low cave so deep that Syna’s light fails to reach the furthermost wall. Once inside, the farther back an individual goes, the cooler the air gets. Protected from the geysers heat while the lava itself wards off any nosey individuals, the Hideaway is the perfect, well, hiding spot.
