Orion ooc :
I think I'm gonna start wrapping this up. Orion's sufficiently spooked. And apparently as I write this, you actually had an effect on his views of the knights! Well done.
"What can you do?" he asked, trailing off for a moment, thinking it was kind of sad that someone had to feel that way. If there wasn't an abuse of that awesome power, what did it hurt? Orion would be dead if not for him. No reason for people to react like that, like Orion had. "I have to admit, it's a little upsetting, that you have to feel that way. I don't mean to get deep here, but it's Syliras." The seeds of annoyance at how Syliras dealt with things had long been planted in Orion. His travels to Sunberth had opened his eyes. Sure, it gave him an appreciation of the protection the knights could give, but the iron fist with which they ruled, that didn't sit right. "They breed this contempt. And the only other place I know is Sunberth. They aren't any better. In fact, they're worse. It's just..I don't know. You've heard all the excuses, right? It's..." He trailed again, struggling to find the words to say to this mage who Orion doubted could care less about what he had to say. The few season's Orion had spent in Sunberth had really opened his eyes about the law, but only served to reinforce a negative view on those with magic. And the hypocrisy of it wasn't lost on Orion. Though he couldn't call himself a mage by any means. "I don't doubt the knights would have a problem with someone who could challenge their power. You've given me something to think about, even if you didn't intent do. I'm likely to go home and be all philosophical about this. How absurd." He chuckled, looking over to the wizard. "If I could survive outside these walls...ah, forgive me again. I'm apt to ramble. Perhaps I should see myself out of here. I'm a glutton for trouble in these woods." He gathered up his few supplies and prepared to depart, back to his tiny apartment in the city of Syliras. "My offer of aid is sincere. You've got my eternal thanks for being here and stopping those guys. There was nothing I could have done to come out alive. If you ever need my services, hopefully someday you'll find them somewhere outside of Syliras." He chuckled once again, this encounter really throwing off the way Orion thought about the world. A brush with death, a wizard who didn't understand why people had an immediate distaste for him, and doubt of the knights who have so long claimed to be protectors. "You've got my best wishes, mage." |
