This northernmost city is the home of Morwen, The Goddess of Winter, and her followers who dwell year round in a land of frozen wonder. [Lore]
Easily located by the hanging red ball, the Northern Star is a popular place for children. Out front, at least one snowperson can be found. A hideout made of spare pieces of wood is tucked next to the building. Out back is a play area, enclosed by low ice walls. Here, the sound of children laughing and playing originates from. The building itself is relatively small, holding no more than sixty people. There are nine rooms; six classrooms, one nap room, one lunchroom, and one playroom.
Parents have the ability to pay a small fee and drop their children off while they go to work. Elder Vantha and Pycons look after the children who are too young to be learning their full time trade. Parents also have the chance to enroll their child in one or two classes. While they are there, the children have they play freely, listen to stories from the Elders, and interact. The children play inside and out, under the careful eyes of the caretakers.
The classes seek to teach the children the basic ideas and learning. There are six classes a day, although a child may only be enrolled at a maximum of two. A single class may be about learning how to write or learning stories from a specific hold. The classes are no more than a bell long and no less than half a bell. The Elders teach the classes.
Once a season, the Northern Star puts on a play. They spend a full season preparing and learning their lines before acting out one of the more popular Avanthal tales. As the Northern Star is too small, the play is held in the Crystal Hall on the 45th day of each season. If, for some reason, the play must be rescheduled, it is always within five days of the 45th. Everyone is invited to watch, but parents must reserve their seats.
The Northern Star is run by all of the Holds. None have a higher power than the other or more influence. Each Hold has at least one elder at the North Star. There are a large handful of Pycons at the Northern Star, as well.

Giona weighs a hefty fifteen pounds and stands nine inches tall. She has a solid grey skin and a roughly crocheted dress imprinted on her skin. The dress goes down to mid-knee and is a style one of the children at the Northern Star designed for her. Working at the Northern Star has cost Giona more than one limb, which has caused the children more grief than her. After all, she simply eats a large amount of clay to regrow the limb.
Giona is a friendly individual. Curious beyond belief, she has been known to travel home with children, hidden in their clothing, simply to see what their life is like. She is a gentle soul and truly enjoys children, even allowing them to paint her odd colors for their own pleasure. Though gentle, she will not be walked upon and most of the children respect her enough to do almost anything she asks.
Klarra is a dramatic individual. She's seen more in her life time and only grows from it. She is an avid storyteller and a main developer of the seasonal plays at the Northern Star and helps create the costumes. Even the most simple tale can be spun into a wild adventure by Klarra. She is a friendly individual, though her tolerance level for nonsense is extremely low. She is known for bring old jewelry and allowing the children to dress up with the pieces.
Klarra stands at exactly five feet and has a blue highlighted braid down to her lower back. Lines decorate her face and her hands are tough from a life of work. Her left leg is stiff with arthritis.
