Name: Drost Bijlage
Race: Human
Age: 18
Gender: Male
Physical Description
Height: 6’2”
Weight: 220lbs

Drost has brown, hair that he used to keep cut short as not to let it interfere with what he is doing. However over the past two years Drost’s hair has grown long for he has been too distracted to maintain it. Drost’s skin reflects that of one who spends much time under open skies. Drost’s skin is rather smooth and has no blemishes of the face or hands. Drost has warm brown eyes that reflect a deep compassion for other people. Drost has a large bushy brows and a thin nose. Drost is notable for having a strong jaw and kind eyes. Normally Drost is clean shaven; however his facial hair has began to grow as it will for he has not bothered to take care of it. Drost at the moment has a full beard however it is still short, lacking the length to hang down from his chin.

Drost is large by most standards and is quite muscular. He has long strong arms that look more able for hacking with a sword then the drawing of a bow. Drost has long strong legs that are meant for riding and a broad chest. Drost has no tattoos or anything else of the sort and only has one real distinguishing mark, although most never see it. There is a large burn mark on Drost’s back that looks almost like a sun burst. Drost tends not to dress too fancy, sticking to simple riding leathers. Drost usually wears a simple white tunic and leather vest, with a pair of leather riding breeches and boots. In heavy or unkind weather Drost is known to wear a hooded leather riding cloak.

Personality: Drost is a genuinely kind and trusting person, however do to events he has become cold to most that he doesn’t know, which is just about everyone. Drost distrusts magic users above all else, even after a magic user has proved themselves trustworthy Drost is still unlike to leave them to more then just the simplest things without a watchful eye. When in a good mood Drost tends to be liked by most for he can be energetic and very sincere, lately good moods are hard for Drost to come by. When focused on a task it tends to consume Drost and all else falls by the wayside, a blessing and a curse for some tasks are better left alone.

History: Drost was born to a couple of simple means. His father Sterk Bijlage was an ex-soldier who had given up on a life of combat to settle down. Drost never really knew his mother other then her name, Sasuga Bijlage. Sasuga died giving birth to Drost and Sterk thought memories to painful to bring up. Drost was raised by his father, who had taken up a job as a guard for a local store, before long though Sterk was struck by feeling for more purpose in his life.

So on Drost’s eighth birthday Sterk joined up with a group of mercenaries, Sterk was far from abandoning his son though and ended up taking Drost with him. So started Drost on a journey, with his father Sterk, across the lands of Mizahar. During his travels Sterk taught his son how to ride a horse better then most men are capable. Sterk tried to teach Drost in the art of wielding a long sword and short sword in unison; however Drost found the long sword to be too cumbersome and soon abandoned the lessons with his father.

Drost eventually made a connection with another one of the mercenaries from the group, a man by the name of Arco Eques. Arco was a horse archer, one of the most versatile and useful men within the group. Arco taught Drost the art of shooting a bow, not only on foot but also from horseback. Drost became well learned in the ways of combat from his father and Arco.

On his sixteenth birthday Drost felt that he was ready to join the ranks of the group as an official member. So the mercenary group sent Drost out on a rite of passage, to kill a dire wolf and bring back its carcass. The hunt of the wolf took Drost some time for he had little skill in any form of tracking, however when he finally came upon the wolf the battle was short lived. It took only a small peppering of arrows and a single slash with his short sword to end the fight.

Drost tied the wolf’s carcass to his horse using a length of rope, and dragged it all the way back to camp. However what he found there was far from the scene he’d expected. The camp had been attacked by a very powerful wizard who’d turned his sights on the mercenary group for reasons Drost never was able to discern. Drost had reached the camp in time to catch the wizard, right as he killed Sterk and Arco. With both his father, and a man he considered his father just as much, killed by a man who stood before him Drost was thrown into a fit of rage.

Drost attacked the wizard; however the fight was nearly as short as Drost’s with the wolf. Drost opened fire with an arrow; the wizard caught the arrow and laughed. As Drost nocked another arrow a black portal opened behind the wizard and the man reached his hand towards it. Drost a soft breeze hit him from behind, and that was all he remembered before a scorching pain and consuming blackness.

Drost woke up the next morning; his back was in severe pain, the camp around him stood in ruins. The wizard had left Drost for dead and moved on, Drost vowed to hunt down the wizard and avenge his father and his mentor. Drost however was lost, he’d never been one too pay much attention to where the group was, that’d never been his job. So Drost began to wander in search of help, somewhere where he could get supplies and find relief from the searing pain on his back.

For three days Drost wandered without paying attention to where he was going, he was lost in a haze. Eventually Drost collapsed, but was found by a group of Benshira, they treated his wounds as he slept and did what they could to nourish his unconscious body. It took Drost two full days to recover, when he awoke the Benshira were very cautious of him, they thought him to be a Magi because his back bore a mark of one that had met with a magic user. They assumed from the fact that he survived that he was one as well.

Drost set the Benshira straight and after thanking them for healing him despite their fears, Drost set off again. Although this time Drost had been pointed in the right direction by the Benshira and was off on his way. When he got to the next town he bought himself new supplies and began trying to dig for information on the wizard. His hunt began for the wizard although it proved difficult to track a wizard through their appearance alone. Two years Drost has searched alone for the wizard with no real sign, though the winds of change were blowing and Drost felt that his hunt might take a turn for the best, or so he hoped.
