While Sylira is by far the most civilized region of Mizahar, countless surprises and encounters await the traveler in its rural wilderness. Called the Wildlands, Syliran's wilderness is comprised of gradual rolling hills in the south that become deep wilderness in the north. Ruins abound throughout the wildlands, and only the well-marked roads are safe.

It was supposed to be a simple walk along the outskirts of Sunberth, nothing more, nothing less. Yet oh so commonly; it was the simple wrong turn that made him lose his path. Instead of familiar ground, the young brawler found himself in a dense forest unable to recognize where the simple way back home is. It had been a couple of days and he was on the verge of exhaustion. What little food he carried for his originally simple walk was long gone, he hungered but was afraid to sample the strange things he saw along the way and what small critters he saw were too fast for the brawler to catch up too……
“I hate forests” He said to himself aloud, it seems he still had the energy to talk. Energy best spent walking rather than making useless remarks, but what was one to do when you have someone who knew only the streets of a city rather than the foliage of the forest? Not much, although it’s somewhat certain they knew better than this peculiar brawler. His body could collapse at any moment, he thirsted for water and hungered for anything edible.
Whats worse people in his state were commonly prey for the hunters of the forest, it has only been luck that ensured his survival so far. If the foolish brawler continues like this any longer, he cannot hope to show any resistance and die a pitiful death….of course doesn’t really faze him, still be quite the annoyance though. Wouldn’t you agree?

Muddied irises followed the length of an elder oak. Making their way up the ridges, the darker bark etched with various geometric shapes. Mainly diamonds, parallelograms, and rhombi. As Aello neared the tree, she extended her right hand. Slowly, tentatively. Fingers splayed, they fell against the raised outlines of a diamond. Her pale flesh pressing against the worn. Tattered, rougher edges. She traced it lazily, following the supple curvature as her head fell to the side. Her long mane of chestnut colored hair following behind, cascading down the length of her shoulders, dipping over the folds of her simple white dress. That which rippled lightly in the breeze, the crisp autumn air.
"Aren't you beautiful?" Aello whispered, as she listened to the leaves rustling in the breeze, twisted limbs rocking lightly before settling down as the sun beat upon her shoulders. Causing pale visage to become partially shrouded in shadow, as the rest basked and glimmered faintly in the light. "I bet no one truly stops to enjoy you," she added, as her finger continued to follow the rim; her eyes trailing behind.
The young girl's feet rolled forward, so that she was balanced on the tips of her toes as her hand stretched. Arm extending so that she could trace the shape of a rhombus, which stood adjacent to the diamond she had been admiring mere moments before hand. Her pointer moved slowly, delicately, making a point not to stumble into the hollowed crevices were the remnants of rain water gathered alongside wood shavings and dirt. It was an easy enough task, tracing.
It knew no bounds. Or did it?
Did it aid in the fluidity of the girl's awkward nature? In her movements? Or was it merely an illusion cast by her young, and perhaps slightly troubled, mind?
OOCI hope you don't mind my asking, but would you mind changing the yellow background to another color? It is a tad hard on my eyes. Thanks. |

The sound of the Brawler's stomach was reaching new levels now, emitting growling sounds that would equate to either the wildlife thinking there was a creature challenging another to territory, a mating call or just some crazy noise that would make them raise their eyebrow's if they had any. In short the brawler was very very hungry. As he walked through the forest path, brushing away the branches and leave, his thoughts went to food “Meat…….Viel….roasted…..on a stick…..fish on a stick…..Pastry…..Meat’ he seemed to have a fixation on meat.
After what seemed like an eternity, in reality only a few chimes, he heard a voice through the woods…. A female voice as far as he could tell, for the brawler that spelled out salvation and Food ‘FOOOOD’ mostly food….. Immediately he quickened his pace to the direction of the voice, his steps almost joyous in nature as he moved like a child frolicking through a field of flowers, funny thing to imagine really.
After a short moment he finally arrived, the brawler raised his eyebrow in shock and his mouth was ajar “A lone child? Here in the woods?” He said aloud, it was strange really….. a young girl, perhaps the age of thirteen or fourteen years, seemed to be quite busy admiring an oak tree ‘Why’s she here? Could she be lost as well?’ It seemed to be a logical assumption, it seemed highly unlikely that such a young girl could survive here by herself…… if she could, then the Brawler could learn a few things from her….perhaps like gaining a sense of direction? Suddenly his stomach growled once more, like a bellowing beast ‘Shut up you stupid stomach’ He thought ‘I will not eat that little girl, no matter how much you beg of me!’ it seemed his stomach was trying to resort to drastic measures….

The girl's ears prickled as a strange rumbling sound reached them. She looked down at her stomach, wondering if it had been that, although, she did not feel the typical tug on her innards that one oft experienced during hunger. Thus, she shrugged, and soon came to the conclusion that it was not her, and that she was likely imagining things. Smiling weakly, she went back to tracing the tree's lines when she heard the sound again. Reverberating off her ear drums, trickling down the waxen canal.
Startled, for she knew it was not her, and no figment of her imagination, Aello turned to find the brawler standing several paces away. Ashamed that she had failed to notice him sooner, the girl quickly returned her hand to her side, and allowed her feet to fall back with an inaudible thud. Now, on the flats of them, her toes furled with her unease. Although, Kreig was not likely to notice such a thing.
As she stood, silently, her heart hammering against her ribs, Aello struggled to breath evenly. Her chest rose and fell swiftly as her eyes swept over the older man. How much taller he was, how lanky, as were many men in their teens, and his short, dirty blonde hair. His pale skin, near as soft as hers, although, there were some whiskers poking through.
"Wha- what are you doing here?" Aello asked, as she turned to face him, as swiftly as her feet would allow. |

"Ah, sorry young miss.... Just a man who unfortunately found himself lost in the forest" And if the young girl were to take a deeper look at him, she'd realized just what an understatement the word truly was. Kreig didn't know what to do at this point really, standing there like an idiot didn't quite help much either, then as if on que, his stomach growled again 'Oh for goodness sake' He sighed and shook his head and looked at the girl " If you don't mind me asking miss, whats a girl of your age doing in the middles of a forests such as this?" Again it was quite unusual, didn't she have any parents? or any sort of gaurdian looking after her? or were they nearby, in a tent or cabin perhaps? Questions he would ask a bit later
His stomach growled even louder, with an exasperated look on his face and a few non-intelligible mutterings, he asked another "Forgive me... but do you have any food you can spare? I have Mizas if need be" He regretted asking the question, because quite honestly he didn't think she had any and if she did, he didn't think she was accounting for a 'guest'. |

Aello nodded weakly as her eyes grazed over Kreig's form; soon realizing the truth in his words by how the folds of his attire seemed to be stretched into a haphazard drape over his bulky form. Muscles recoiling beneath his dirt encrusted skin, the areas where it seemed to have been rubbed in as though he were trying to achieve a fake tan, from his hunger. The fabric rippled unpleasantly before the eye, and began to billow as the whistling wind found its way underneath; tousled their hair for a few ticks, before dying down again.
Uncomfortable with the whole spectacle but unwilling to show as much any further, Aello forced herself to smile weakly at the strange man lost in the forest. As she stood silently, her brow furrowed, falling into the creases that wound their way across her forehead. "Whoever said I was alone?" the young aurist inquired, as her muddied irises settled on the delicate glaze that seemed to be growing over the man's own. "Perhaps, stranger, I am surrounded by people who know me. People who can see each of us, although you obviously have yet to catch them," she added as her smile widened, her eyes glimmering as she caused her lower half to turn. Causing her own adornments to sway as if in a breeze.
Slowly, she shook her head, "no sir, I do not have anything to spare," Aello responded. "Although, with only the beginning of the season, the forest is bound to be ripe with fruit. Apples mainly... it is the season mother always makes her pies." Her smile widened. "Perhaps if you only look, you can find something."
Or an animal's corpse. Surely, looking that crazed he would not object to picking at that, her young mind added. |
