“I don’t give out my secrets to total strangers, if I did there wouldn’t be anything left for myself eh?"

Clyde listened to his words, getting a bit annoyed at him... He was saying eh did dnot give away his secrets, or in this case answering a rather simple question... While he followed that up, with asking Clyde a question, one which for all he knew, Clyde did not want to divulge. Which really, he did not. The last thing he wanted was someone from Syliras knowing were he was from, and coming after him, realizing what he was a part of. So he simply put on a bit of a grin, and shook his head at his words.

"Well I have a rule to, I don't give out secrets, to people who don't want to even answer simple questions. It is a bit rude you know, to say that you don't do something, and follow it up by doing the exact same thing to the other person. Conversation is about give and take. One speaks and tells things while the other listens, and then you trade off."

He smiled, though doing his best to keep the annoyance he was feeling from spreading to his face and eyes.

"So it seems a bit hypocritical to ask me that. So I come from far enough North, to not be here. There you go, I answered your question, without divulging any information. At least I pretended to be answering, instead of giving a blank wall for a response."

If anything, this had made Clyde all the more suspicious of the man, who refused to tell him anything, but repeatedly asked facts of Clyde, and was rather rude in denying facts of his own. He sounded more like a plant, set up by the knights to get info out of people. Such skulduggery was the exact kind of thing he expected from them, even with their outwardly good persona. Which he knew was just a facade, set up for the common man, who lived in ignorance under their rule.

He was increasingly believing the man was a plant, or some kind of Knight spy... Which was not someone he should be divulging his information to... Or his skills...

I am actually in RL a super intelligent hamster from Rhode Island, with a 7 year plan to take over the world.

Update 6/2/18- 1:10AM EST: His 7 year plan a success, and several weeks ahead of schedule, Clyde leaves to oversee the world he has taken over.

No new threads after end of Spring 518-Will still be checking for PM's occasionally, but focusing on a new character.

Graders note: :
Please be aware Clyde is a master Magecrafter. He therefore should not be gaining full xp(or possibly shouldn't gain any at all) for simple tasks related to this magic, such as low level MC items, particularly for repetitions of creations he has done before. Feel free to contact me if unsure of a instance of his magic use compared to his skill level.

Savitaire nodded “I suppose you are right and I apologize for upsetting you, but if I told you, you might rouse the city, I cannot have that you see? Not that I’m going to attack you, you have my word on that for whatever you decide that is worth. I can understand you have your own secrets to keep, can you forgive me for wishing to keep my own as well? I have been honest, I am a hunter, but telling you how I hunt would give my secret away especially since you can well see I have no weapons.”

He didn’t exactly plead, but he didn’t want the man to do anything that could result in a fight. “Stalking each other from across the fire with words and looks hardly befits two civilized men like us yes? A warm meal and a fire is supposed to bring joy, not suspicion and I for one am grateful to you for the company. Now I would say as long as we agree not to go screaming in to the trees or starting violence perhaps we can agree to keep each other’s secrets. I’d even go first perhaps if you do not trust me? This way by placing these things in the open we can relax some, I’d be willing to trust you if you give me your word that what I tell you won’t find the ears of others.”

He didn’t think it would work of course, but it was better to try and relieve some of the tension and he was very curious about the other man. His grey eyes were open, honest, no scent of lies or manipulation, just an honest desire to set the man at ease by showing him trust. “What do you say?”

Clyde took in a deep breath, trying to sooth his nerves, calming down from how on edge he was... Flipping out was not a good idea... The last thing he needed was to get carried away, and attack this guy... He would prefer not to have to blow him away with reimancy... Just because you have power, he reminded himself, did not mean you had to use it... Caution was the key... And he had already used enough Reimancy around Syliras of late... He did not want to get caught...

he was however interested in what he said... He was afraid that he might rouse the city? What could be so bad about him, that that might occur should others know? The only thing he could think of was magic, since it was a bit closer to home for him, being a mage... So was he saying he was a mage?

He was interested even more as he said to Clyde that he hunted using this unseen secret thing... What magic could be used to hunt? He was not sure... Not reimancy... It would have been visible likely on the animal carcass... Unless perhaps it was fire reimancy, then the flames of cooking would have hid it... But he did not feel any djed cloying the air, pressing against him... Often he could feel it when someone had recently done magic of a kind... Though he was fairly certain that had more to do with his auristical sense, which had a sort of intuitive passive ability for when it brushed over his aura...

"I am sure we can come to some kind of agreement... And I am not one to start a fight over nothing... Certainly not... But I think you may be surprised, what I am accustomed to, and what will surprise me or anger me, or send me into a screaming rant running for the knights to come, or to rouse the city against you. It is not likely for me. Perhaps if you gave a bit more, I would be willing to say more. Surely this secret of yours is not so bad..."

He smiled at the man for a moment, thinking of the oddity of it all... Two men, both with secrets, meeting like this, and sharing a... 'meal'... Though he supposed most people did have secrets in fact, even if they did not admit it... It was just natural to do so, and to want to keep things to oneself.

"But if you do not want to talk of that, then what are we to talk of? There are only so many things a pair of strangers can converse over. What then did you have in mind for us to speak on?"

There wasn’t anything more to be gained by dancing around and he had to admit that the man was right, the conversation would end too soon if there wasn’t more to talk about. “What do you know of the Dhani?”

That was the best way to start it he thought, though it also told the man clearly what he was, so it served as both a starting place and a good way to find out what all the man knew. If he was knowledgeable he’d be able to pick out which of the branch he was related to, if not he’d share, either way the man really had nothing to fear unless he threatened him.

Sorry for the late reply, but also for the small post, I'll get back in to the flow of things so no worries on lame responses.

[The Bronze Woods]The Serpent and The Mage[Savitaire]

Postby Clyde Sullins on March 29th, 2013, 8:39 pm

Clyde waited a few more moments, nibbling on his bit of food. He was not that hungry it seemed... Or perhaps, just not that hungry for this food. Done with it, he passed it down to Rye, he began to chew on it, ripping off the bits of meat with his teeth, and kept on going till nothing was left but bones.

"Well, it seems Rye likes your cooking."

After a few moments though, the man responded to his question, with a question of his own... Wanting to know what he knew of the Dhani? What the petch was that?

Squinting his eyes, he concentrated, and tried to recall if he had heard that name before.

"It does not ring a bell. I don't think I know of it... Or them."

He added, as an afterthought, them. Perhaps this was the name of some group of people? There were certainly a lot of them, and he by no means knew them all. Though he seemed a normal enough human at first glance.

He looked down at Rye, to see he had finished off most of the meat, and was chewing on a rib. Apparently the man had chopped the beast in half ribs and all, with but brute force. It had not occured to him till just now, seeing the bones broken, that it would take a decent bit of force to do so. And he had done it quite easily, without even straining.

He had only just noticed it, so perhaps his observational skilled were not as honed as they should be, but he certainly realized now that this man was stronger than he appeared.

"Why don't you tell me then, of what Dhani are?"

Savitaire had met very few that had heard of his kind, this man too seemed to be in that number. It made things both easy and hard for him, but he didn’t mind. “My race is a race of long lived shape shifters, there are three classes within our race. Constrictor, Rattler and Viper, each one with their own individual strengths. I am a constrictor type, my sub-race are rather strong, Rattlers are middling between neither overly strong or overly venomous and the Vipers are quick and very venomous. We have three forms, human, snake and a middling form that gave my people our name called our Dhani form. As a snake I believe I am about forty five feet long and rather thick around and in my middling form I am a cross between snake and man and about as strong as four men. Human I am half that and with double speed. I, as an individual, am different compared to the rest of my people in that I’m not eagerly violent. However” he sighed “most are and my sub-class and the others are always fighting, killing and generally trying to exterminate each other. That’s pretty much the short version.”

It would have been clear that he also wasn’t happy with how things were amongst his people. He slowly set the rest of his meal near where the dog could take it if it so chose, but not so close that he might risk losing a finger or worse. “My kind don’t often leave the nest either, but a rather unfortunate event for those responsible resulted in my eventful journey away. Been in this area since, found work and as you saw decided to try making lunch. Though to be honest I think I’ll leave cooking to those better versed in such things as I don’t think I like my own cooking. What of you?”
