A city floating in the center of a lake, Ravok is a place of dark beauty, romance and culture. Behind it all though is the presence of Rhysol, God of Evil and Betrayal. The city is controlled by The Black Sun, a religious organization devoted to Rhysol. [Lore]

12th of Winter, 512 AV Nitrozian Plaza
This time, Kelmar had a purpose when walking through the Nitrozian Plaza that afternoon. So many times had he simply circled the plaza, his ears perked for the sounds of any rumors of business rivalries, anything that he could latch onto like a leech and reap the benefits of getting involved. Every business was a cutthroat business in Ravok, you just needed to know where to look. For a whole season, the young freelance spy had to learn where that was after being cut loose by the Galatos family for the first time since he started his job, but now he knew and was thriving from it.
So far he'd only made contact with one or two budding merchant businesses whose family names weren't yet important, but they were looking to grow by cutting out some of the competition. Not any big names like Nitrozian yet - no one was that stupid - but rather other competitive business that were trying to start up, the ones that were easier to dismantle. After all, the less competition the more profits for those involved. The jobs had been almost too easy, Kelmar being used to slightly bigger names, but he wasn't complaining.
Right now, his long strides carried him briskly across the large public square, a letter within the folds of his cloak. It was a report on his completed mission, and he was determined to deliver it to his employer as soon as possible. The entire thing fit on a small note, for there wasn't much to say. All that it mentioned was that his employer's rivals suddenly found a new shipment of wares destroyed somehow. Walking intently towards one of the bridges, Kelmar focused straight ahead and for once drowned out most of the world around him. |

The merchant kept a steady gaze on his wristwatch as if he believed that staring at it would somehow make the hands move faster, he was slightly early for the meeting he'd arranged with Kelmar and although he only had a few minutes to wait till their agreed time, he was an incredibly impatient man and every second felt like an hour.
He was dressed in what at a distance looked like finery; a fur lined coat, a rich, royal red velvet cloak and a finely crafted, delicate gold wristwatch, but under close inspection it was clear to see that the velvet cloak was in fact felt hastily and unevenly dyed red; the watch, not gold but gold tone steel and the fur, fake fur. As much as he hated to admit it, he wasn't yet as respected, wealthy or well know as he was sure he should be but hopefully this deal, and perhaps a few more like them to take down any potential competition or cunning business rivals would ensure him a place at the very top.
He watched as the river flowed gently under the cold, shady stone bridge he was waiting on. In the distant a bell rang 8 times; 8 'o' clock. Before the last chime had faded Kelmar appeared, seemingly out of nowhere, in front of the merchant. "So, is it done?" He said briskly as if he had been kept waiting, for although Kelmar had been exactly on time, the Merchant took a pushy and hurried manner with everyone because he had seen many a successful businessman treat his employees this way so, as he saw it there must be something in it.

The personal affluence of his employer was unimportant to Kelmar, who strode towards the pompously dressed merchant, who was making impatient gestures like tapping his foot and checking his wristwatch repeatedly. Dwelling with such impatience was unpleasant, but the young agent didn't waste time gathering an opinion on it. Emotions were pointless and achieved nothing, only got in the way, so Kelmar had trained himself to not feel anything at all. Someone else might have felt frustration or reciprocate the impatience, but Kelmar just didn't care.
Ignoring the merchant's question, he instead just passed on the letter containing the result. It was received with a lack of grace as his employer fumbled over the little paper package, but Kelmar didn't wait for a recovery. "Confirmation," he said abruptly. "I'll contact you again when I'm looking for work, don't try to find me." Then, before waiting for a reply, mere seconds after he first arrived, he turned and left, walking as briskly as he had been previously and leaving the startled merchant behind. He tried to keep his meetings curt, not one to bandy words or wish luck. It went against some of his respectful habits, but when it came to business efficiency was key.
Returning to the plaza, he began his walk right across it, heading for one of the opposite bridges that would eventually lead him back to his loft for more practice. |
