JOSS HAWKEYE Name: Joss Hawkeye Race: Drykas/Eypharian mix Age: 17 Birthday: Fall 41, 495 AV Physical Description Joss is tall and muscular, with a dark complexion, dark hair and brown eyes. He has a swirling windmark tattoo on his shoulders, that look like feathers blowing in the wind. Character Concept Joss is a quiet young man, generally speaking. He is tough, durable and very stubborn, though any rebelliousness against his elders is usually very well contained and he can wait patiently to find a way to get his way. The circumstances of his creation have never been held against him, but he does sometimes feel that he needs to prove that he is as good as any other Drykas. This drives him to excel and sometimes he takes things a bit too far. Some people mistake his focus and his taciturn nature for arrogance. But he isn’t proud. He is more likely to feel the need to push himself to overcome some perceived inadequacy than to be feeling superior to anyone else. Character History Joss’ mother is a member of the Topaz clan. One winter, as her people made their way close to the lands of the Eypharians, she was set upon and almost abducted. Her brothers saved her though, and killed the men who had attacked her. Nine months later, Joss was born and although his manner of conception was a horrible memory for his mom, she still loved him and never held what happened against him. Her family too was accepting of the boy, and when he was quite young, his mom married a man of her own race, one of the Emerald clan. Eventually, she bore her husband two sons and a daughter, and Joss wasn’t ever pushed aside or forgotten. He was raised as the eldest and his step-father was a good man and kind to him. Unfortunately, his step-father was killed in a hunt when Joss was about ten. His mother decided to return to live with her parents, taking the children with her of course. So for the remainder of his childhood, Joss was raised within the Topaz clan, in the Hawkeye pavilion. When he was fourteen, Joss was chosen by a strider mare, Lydi. He has spent all the time he could with her, riding, sometimes hunting, and trying to learn about the web. He wishes to become a guard for his people, as many of the Topaz clan do, and has practiced a good deal with the short bow.
