Dutch Forte

Postby Dutch Forte on January 7th, 2013, 6:10 am

Name: Dutch Forte
Age: 22
Race: Human
Birthday: First of Spring
Location: Zeltiva

Appearance: Dutch stands at an average height, brown hair and eyes, with a light but strong build weighing in around a hundred fifty pounds. His face isn't profound, he simply looks like an average guy, his patchy stubble and shoulder long hair being the only quotable features. He carries himself confidently, but doesn’t demand a scene. He moves through smoothly and, when possible, effortlessly.

Character Concept: Dutch is a quick-footed, forward thinking, smooth talking bastard who’s trying to escape his past. A mercenary from youth he grew to hate the suffering that his occupation brought upon others. Dutch believes in modesty and goodness no matter what you do with your life. He struggles with explaining his efforts to others as hes only begun on this moral journey and the opposition is strong, not to mention the fact that he also must steal at the same time to survive: Dutch must begin to adapt to the non-mercenary life. To summarize Mr. Forte is going to have to do some philosophizing to eliminate his cognitive dissonance all while trying to survive and maybe have a few good times along the way.

The sir is versed in stealth and is catching onto using his Gladius, acrobatics, his mind comparable to a blade on the grindstone. He’s looking to establish a life in Zeltiva: Mr. Forte wishes to further his knowledge so enrolling in the university is a step, and he also wants to nail some side work for right now to keep busy. As for potential, Mr. Forte is vulvnerable to philosophy thanks to his knack for thinking as the day is long; a crash course with Gods also seems inevitable in his life. Although, at the end of the day, he has been born into the art of spying and it’ll be difficult for Dutch to survive and live well without using his skills.

Morals: For now, Mr. Forte will keep to himself. He seeks to acquire knowledge and is more in the matter of asking questions than spreading solutions. He seeks to do well to others, but doesn’t understand how to do it just yet. A very good soul at his core, Dutch hasn’t shifted away from thievery just yet, and leaving something valuable around him openly is the same as throwing it away, that is, if you don’t need it. As for the rest, Dutch is promisingly inviting and welcomes all situations with open arms.

History

Dutch Forte (as he is so called) is a man whose name you will not find on any lists of any sort; he even changed names in life already: Nicknamed Johnny as a boy by his brothers in arms, it was his smooth demeanor and individualism that earned him his name. He was kidnapped as a child and put to use in the mercenary life, not much else was ever told of his past other than the few grandiose stories to generate a cackle. To begin understand who he is knowledge of who Dutch grew up with is essential: A ragtag band of Mercenaries from around the world, intelligent men too. The hired hands brought their cultures and views with them and they discussed much of them and, even as a boy, Dutch always kept his ears wide. His co-mercenaries shaped his thought and the young man developed many different perspectives on an assortment of topics; Dutch’s open mind would be the reason he decided to leave one day. Instead of becoming part of the mob Dutch choose silence as his guide, giving him time where others rushed, the boy then grew patient in thought and began appreciating people individually, never caring for the jabbering of men.
Many honed him in silence, mercenaries needed scouts, and he followed the other spies from an early age. Vaulting walls and moving silently from place to place were the skills the raiders needed; he used a blade to slay on certain missions but he spent more time swinging at a dummy than in real combat. Dutch’s tasks were many: Plotting a caravans path, observing a camps guards, going incognito to open the gates for a surprise attack, he was in the business of all these things by the age of 20. His wit was his savior on more than one occasion, and growing to know the craft he realized intelligence was just as important as physical prowess.
The mercenaries themselves, dubbed by their leaders the Avaricious Circle of Flame, made offerings to Ivak, the God never openly praised them but needed not when he had so gracefully given the wizards control over fire. If Dutch or his brethren were ever-exposed great fire rained on the opposition, swords kept for the straggler. Ruthless it was, Dutch was made immune to death, but never daunted in his opinion: Killing and stealing is no way for one to live.
Dutch, however, never openly opposed Ivak, in fact he might of even of had a stronger relationship with the God than any of his peers, feeling such a deep despise for the way he lived: A business of taking from others, no positive thing brought to society. So Dutch plotted to leave, the almighty dubbed it necessary in his mind, his spy skill would free him from the Circle’s shackles. Dutch took his Gladius with him and snuck out one night, booking it for the town Zeltiva, hoping his former company would not chase.

Possessions:
Set of clothing
Waterskin
A Knapsack containing: Toiletries, week’s food, a knife, flint and steal.
A Gladius, with the sheath on his left hip

Family Heirloom: A Gladius (Stolen from the circle)
Having no known blood relatives, Dutch stole his Gladius from the only people he ever got to know, The Avaricious Circle of Flame, taken as a cautionary measure. Dutch has been schooled in its use but still has much to learn in the ways of the blade. The blade, however, was taken in the middle of the night in a rush, and Dutch is not too sure of its history prior.
