Outcast

Postby Outcast on January 9th, 2013, 9:55 pm

Name; Outcast
Age; 5 months
Birthday; 3th of Fall 512 A.V.
Race; Pycon
Gender; Male

Physical Description Timeline
35th winter 512 A.V.
Small even by Pycon standards he is 3'' tall and weighs 4 pounds. His current form is that of a tiny winged goat. The wings are decorative and highly stylized and are marked with interesting patterns. The goat part however is a realistic depiction of a goat in clay and contrasts starkly with the stylized wings.

Character Concept
Outcast also known as the young outcast or the bird botherer depending on who you ask has not lived very long. He is foolhardy, naive, endlessly optimistic, upbeat, extrovert and has had little experience beyond his home town before. This is a combination that makes him think he can change the world himself and make things better for everyone and as such is fond of interfering in things that aren't really his business. He is proud even of his failures and takes very poorly to being told what to do to an extent where he'll often go and do things simply because someone told him not to or that he couldn't. This is how he came to learn alchemy and become shunned by the other Pycon. He is strangely proud of the other Pycon shunning him as it makes him feel more important and will introduce himself as the outcast if ever given the chance. He will try anything at least once even if he himself believes it to be impossible, the reason for this is that he loves being able to say that he tried, in the past it was something to laugh about with friends and he has been occasionally surprised by what actually turns out to be possible. Persistent and determined, little besides a new task will deter him from something once he sets out to do it. Outcast is actually pretty intelligent but his blank refusal to put almost any forethought into anything he does makes this seem unlikely to most who encounter him.

Likes
Trying crazy things
Breaking rules
Anything that makes him feel smarter or better than those around him
Being able to laugh about the crazier stuff he's done with others

Dislikes
Talking about the past
Witnessing suffering
Being alone

Ethics
Outcast doesn't often consider those around him and breaks laws and social taboos just because they exist but he is easily moved by the suffering of others even if he is inconsiderate in his rule breaking . He is possesed of the notion that he can fix things and make them better and will go out of his way to interfere in situations he knows nothing about if he thinks it's for the better.

Early History

Outcast's short history is filled with stories of his trouble making and his failed attempts at becoming an apprentice in one field or another. One of his more notable stories is his repeated attempts at taming and riding wild birds attempts often that ended up with him either in several pieces or stuck in a tree. Despite never once succeeding he remains charactisticly persistent and insists that he just needs a bigger bird. After gaining the nickname bird botherer he searched locally for anyone willing to take him on as apprentice. Through continual effort he eventually found one. He spent some time learning medicine and the art of healing the sick before his master became fed up with his inability to take instruction and kicked him out. It was there on his former teachers doorstep where he met the human traveler Surivan.
At first Surivan found the little Pycon annoying as he sought the details of Surivan's visit to his former master's place of healing. But Surivan's tightlipped nature only encouraged him further and soon the traveler found he was being followed around town. Surivan refused to talk about himself and repeatedly demanded to be left alone. Days passed and still Surivan found himself hounded by the small winged goat made of clay. Eventually Surivan let slip that he was an alchemist and that as a creature of alchemy Bird Botherer should respect him and leave him be. Bird Botherer immediately asked Surivan to teach him and explained that he had searched a long time for an alchemist to teach him. Surprised, confused, very curious and well aware that refusal would just lead to a prolonged campaign of unending pestering from Bird Botherer he cautiously agreed. He held the Pycon in his hand as he told him that he was well aware of why he was thrown out from his former master, that magic was dangerous, unpredictable and that if Bird Botherer ever disobeyed him in the same manner he would not stop teaching him but instead promised to destroy him. Bird Botherer for a time reined in his distaste for obedience and was a perfect student. He proved to have a great aptitude for alchemy and was enraptured by this forbidden subject he had been told time and time again he should never learn. He soaked up all the knowledge Surivan offered with a speed and hunger that deeply impressed Surivan. Bird Botherer had yet to gain the name Outcast but with his pride of disobedience and naivety he boasted to the other Pycon in town of his breaking of the important taboo of alchemy. Outcast will proudly proclaim that he was made an outcast following this but refuses to talk about exactly what happened after his boast to the other Pycons and becomes evasive and even uncharacteristically hostile if pressed on the subject. After his boast Surivan collected the newly titled Outcast and they left town to study alchemy elsewhere. Following the events at his hometown Outcast threw himself into his studies becoming more and more skilled at the craft but it was inevitable that his old habits would reappear. Directly disobeying Surivan's orders he attempted to preform alchemy on his own. He tried to use a circle far larger than he could cope with and in the attempt the inn they where staying in suffered structural damage and Surivan was badly wounded. The injured Surivan held the disobedient Pycon in his hands a second time looking at the small creature he reneged on his promise of destruction and instead cast his apprentice from his service exactly as he said he wouldn't do. For the first time in his life Outcast was alone in a very big world he knew next to nothing about.
