Just waiting...

25th, Winter of 512

The night sky shined above. Stars were in a pattern, a unique one that Troian couldn't keep her eyes off. The last time she looked at the sky was when she was very young and looked out of the window of the house she was in. Well cleaning. Looking at the stars made Troian think of her past and she looked down. It was a lot better. The moon reflected off the water. It was beautiful. So beautiful that Troian tried to touch it. Her finger touched the water and the image broke, coming back together seconds later. The water was icy, Troian pulled her arm back. She kind of smiled. She liked the cold ocean. She looked around Anchorage Flotilla. It was hard to believe no one was around. But she shrugged and began a silent tune. It sounded a louder than it was suppose to be.

"The sight if treasure
The excitement and pleasure
Oh-Ho I'm not a pirate but I am a Svefra.

I live freely without a care and when treasure is there, I will take it. Just to have it.

Gain my love and trust, be a friend not a foe, and if you want no bother... Leave me alone.

Oh-Ho

I am a Svefra"

Troian didn't have a powerful or soothing voice. It sounded nice though. And the little tune is what gets her through the year. She sighed and pushed her dreads back. She just put them in three days ago when the back her neck gave in to the cold. She couldn't wait for spring. To let her brown hair sit on her shoulders. She sighed and leaned back, her bag was sitting beside her. Her little Tavan which is a Otter. A baby one made his appearance. He wrinkled his nose at Troian and gave what she called a grin. It was just his nose pulled back with the top of his mouth showing. Just a couple of teeth were there. Troian smiled back before laying back. Her feet still dangling.

She hummed her song and closed her eyes. She was going to start traveling again tomorrow. She needed to start traveling tomorrow...

It had been a long day.

Fishing using a harpoon wasn't easy, it meant keeping your eyes peeled and your trigger finger sensitive. You had to watch the seas for Laviku knows how long, not gazing in admiration but intently looking for something that might not show up for bells. You couldn't just waste effort on any random fish you saw, it had to be big enough to hit with the harpoon and it had to be close enough to the surface that the projectile would not loose its power. When you finally found something worth shooting at, you still had to actually hit it. All of the children of the sea, the fish and mammals that Kirvan hunted, were quite clever and would swim away at the first sign of danger. No disturbances besides his boat, one missed shot and he could be at it for bells more.

That was all Kirvan had been doing all day, and though he had managed to catch some the yield was unsatisfactory. For the entire evening he had been unsuccessful in finding anything, so he was in a bit of a sour mood as he approached the Anchorage Flotilla to tie up for the night. He needed some more supplies in the morning, and the sooner he set out to do his fishing the better. Leth's graceful presence was reflected beautifully in the water, which lapped against the side of his boat. Truly peaceful moments like this were quite common in the Suvan, but right now, from Kirvan's casinor, there was a bonus. The lights of the Flotilla, bobbing in the darkness, like lamps hung from strings that reached up to the sky itself. Such a picturesque moment that Kirvan had already begun to relax.

As he grew nearer however, he heard a soft song waft over to him from the nearby edge of the city of boats. Curious as to who would be singing at this bell, Kirvan pushed against the tiller slightly, aiming his ship towards the sound. It wasn't a wonderful example of singing, but there was heart in it, and he was always interested in hearing another's tales if they were willing to share. He strove for individual company like this, and he hoped whoever he found would have some stories to tell. More practically, they could also help him tie up to the Flotilla for the night. However, before he could find the source the singing stopped, offering him with no direction to go on other than his current general course.

Now left without any idea as of where to go, Kirvan maneuvered his way around the exterior of the Flotilla, unknowingly drawing nearer to Troian's boat. It was dark, so it was only understandable that Kirvan bump against a couple ships as he tried to stay nearby the city on the water. He supposed he could hop over some random boat and wake the owner, asking to knot his lines to their mast, but doing so would be very rude and unwarranted, so he wished to avoid such a scenario. Seeing by the light of the boats deeper inside the Flotilla, he kept his eyes open for anyone awake who would let him tie up.

OOCMeh, sorry about the unoriginal and uninspiring post. Couldn't think of much to say, hopefully we'll kick this off soon enough.

Her eyes were still closed as she layed stretched out. Her boat was slightly bumped. Which made her shift right, laying on her stomach. Her eyes fluttered open as she pushed herself up. She got up. She thought she would be the only one up but there was someone else. He looked like he just arrived. Troian didn't say anything even though she could see he was a Svefra. She just stood there for awhile before heading down to her bed. Slowly though because she wasn't in a rush. She kept singing the song like a lullaby. Which it was. To put her to sleep and help her forget. Forget her past. The past that hurt her. As she headed down she kicked a bucket. It made a lot of noise and she froze.

"Great..." She mumbled as she waited to see if anyone was awake because of the racket she made so she could apologize for her stupidity. She sung her song again as she waited.

Kirvan perked his ears up at the clang of the bucket. Someone was quite obviously awake, and it would be preferable to find whoever that was rather than spend half a bell circling the Flotilla in search of someone else. Steering his ship once more towards the sound, Kirvan's attention was drawn to that same song that was being sung before. The tune acted like a beacon, guiding him towards the Flotilla and maybe the one person nearby who would let him tie up.

"Hello?" the young man called out gently, not wanting to disturb anyone else in their sleep. While he was right beside the area where the singing had come from, he did not know in this darkness from which boat the sound had come. "Please, let me tie up on your ship," he called gently to the nearby boats, now wishing to disturb anyone else.

She heard the man and paused for awhile. She wasn't gonna let a stranger tie up on her ship. She pursed her lips before heading in the direction of the voice. All she could see was a figure. She leaned toward his ship. She couldn't make anything else out." Who are you? And what might you be?" It was quite rude for her to ask the race of the man but if he was a Svefra it would be easier to trust him. She could trust a Svefra better than anyone else. She could hear Missy's voice in her head."One day, like most of the young women and men of our pod, you'll explore the sea. We might not be around but there is one race you can trust. Like yourself, Svefra. Trusting them is like trusting yourself. Are you afraid to trust yourself?". It always made her laugh but she knew what Missy meant.

The svefra man chuckled a bit at the abruptness of her question. Most of the time the people of the Flotilla would let anyone coming tie up, after all that was how the Anchorage Flotilla workes, though it made sense that some would rather not allow total strangers to tie up alongside them. They were rare though, since the Flotilla thrived on admitting anyone nearby with a boat. It's how the population fluctuated as new people came with their skills while others left taking theirs.

"I'm Kirvan of the Deepseekers," he answered, seeing the boat up ahead in the dark. He pushed the tiller to the side so he could draw up alongside it. "I'm a svefra, since you asked so nicely." There was a grin in his voice, he was joking. "Just looking for somewhere to tie up to the Flotilla, I don't want to disturb anyone else by waking them, but I'd rather not circle around looking for someone. I've got some early morning business, so I want to try to tie up tonight."

OOCHave you submitted your CS for review? I'm not quite sure the kind of ship you envision yourself to have is allowed as part of the SP.

She thought about it. He was a Svefra. She touched her lip with her index finger. She was thinking about it. Then gave a solid nod. She forgot it was too dark to see her and she blushed." Uh, sure. You can." She stood there waiting. And as she did she hummed the same tune. She started remembering other songs her pod use to sing. They started coming back to her. She smiled sweetly before looking back up. She wished she could see his face. She was blind at night. Unless Kirvan was standing in front of her, she can't see him. She heard him introduce himself." I'm Troian." She told him.

Kirvan grinned as he nudged on the tiller, easing off as he felt the two boats scrape alongside one another. "Thanks... Troian," he replied. He then quickly ran around his cabin, feet bounding on the wooden deck, and grabbed his bowline. With the rope in hand, he hopped over the side of his boat and climbed onto the next one, finding the mast quickly and securing the line around it. The sails were still unfurled back on his casinor, but now that he was tied down he wouldn't have to worry about that.

"Thanks again," Kirvan said, standing up straight and looking around for Troian. There was light coming from the old ships near the center of the Anchorage, but it was distant and not bright enough to illuminate the immediate surroundings a great deal. "Do you have a pod name?" he asked.

She shook her head and quietly said," It's nothing." She stood in front him. When he asked what her pod name was, she frown. She remembered it but didn't want to remember it.. She sighed." Silentshores." She answered. A pod that doesn't exist anymore. A pod that didn't deserve what they got. "My pod.... My pod doesn't exist anymore." She told him as she swallowed her tears. She looked him." What's your pod's name and why aren't you traveling with them?" She blurted out. She but her lip to keep herself from asking anymore. She didn't want to seem rude or anything like that.

Postby Tsukiko on January 21st, 2013, 5:26 pm

Tsukiko was asleep, her vessel tied up near by. Slowly, she frowned, blinking as she heard conversation from above. 'Troian..?' she thought. The other voice sounded male, and she did not recognize it. Tsukiko slipped silently off her make-shift deck bed and set about changing. She grabbed her crescent blade, just in case, and made her way cautiously towards the voices.

As she drew nearer, Tsukiko noticed that neither of the voices sounded as if her friend and the stranger were discussing something that slightly bothered Troian, and so, she kept out of sight and listened. She glanced up at Leth, whose moonlight lit the starry skies.
Tsukiko made sure that she was out of reach of any light, for her slender, curling horns tended to reflect it, even in the winter season, when at night, her hair became silver, and her horns turned black. She sat low against the railing of her Catamaran, her indigo blue eyes gleaming in the night.

oocThanks for the invite Kirvan! ^^ and sorry for the intrusion
