42nd Day of Winter, 512 AV Awaking from a pleasant dream, Kaley stretched out her arms and rubbed the sleep out of her eyes. Her feet hit the cold marble floor and chill ran up her spine. Shaking the chill off, her curls bouncing wildly, she prepared for the day. A smile lay etched on her face, she was getting a new tutor today! She dressed herself in her fine silks and gingerly placed her golden bracelets about her wrist. Gracefully she buckled her sandals and threw open her sheer curtains, allowing the sunlight to fill the room. Washing her face, Kaley wondered out loud what her new Sower would be like. She had been told that she was of the Konti people. Yahal had blessed Kaley to be in such a presence of wisdom. The knowledge the Konti possessed was well known throughout the Mizahar. She vowed to cling to every word that dropped from the Sower's lips, like a bee to honey. Foreseeing the future is an art that Kaley would master, she promised herself. " Perhaps I will be reading tea leaves, or palms. Mayhap even crystal gazing" Kaley speculated. Having finished her morning exercises and simple dance stretches, she knelt before Yahal. She had burned a small mound of dried lavender she had collected from the garden as incense. Breathing in the fragrant smoke, she clasped her hands together and performed her prayer dance. She begged Yahal to bestow goodness and wisdom onto her for this fruitful day. When she had finished, she gave a low bow. Slapping her hands onto the thighs, she rose and walked to the garden for a spot of breakfast. The warming sun rays licked at Kaley' glowing skin. She plucked a mango from a nearby tree and bit into it ravenously. The sweet juices dribbled down her chin as she lapped at her morning treat. Wiping the stickiness from her face, Kaley sat on the stone benches, awaiting her instructor. |
