Character Concept
Ash'eny is a man that follows few rules, but doesn't exactly have a low or detestable sense of morality. He steals but not from the poor, the wretched, the ill, or the hardworking and low class. He begs for money and lies to further his 'work', and he lives amongst the homeless wretches that tend to exist everywhere.
Ash'eny holds no sympathy for those who have, or for the longest of times had, easy, simple, and comfortable lives, even when difficulty befalls them. It isn't until they lose nearly everything and truly feel the lives of the poor and hungry will he begin to feel for them. That said, Ash'eny feels pity for those who cannot help themselves, but other refuse to assist. The Syliran Knights, for example, are one of the groups he despises. In his eyes, they are just men claiming to uphold law and justice, yet feed themselves on their empty promises and allow the wretched to die as they are.
Ash'eny cares little, if any, for politics, religion, or social status. His cares rarely stretch farther than what his eyes see and what his body feels. Ash'eny also will never steal from another thief, unless it is to reclaim what is his, and in that case he's likely to either beat or kill the bastard instead of stealing it at all. If that thief happens to fall into the 'wealthy' category, thus does not steal to survive, he can also find himself a target of Ash'eny, though it will be a much more thought-out plan.
Even though Ash'eny takes advantage of people by lying, he still finds himself emotionally attaching himself to them when they move to support him, defend him, or stand up for him. It is a rare occasion, as he typically acts as a beggar, but when a truly good person is revealed, he will most likely never bother the person again or ever try to harm them. A thief with morals.
Character History - Pre-Creation
Birth in Sunberth: Ash'eny was born in the ever repulsive city of Sunberth. His father was a hunter, trapper, horse trainer, and wilderness guide. He provided the family with plenty of food and enough money to survive moderately comfortably, but he never had spare time to see them. Ash'eny more or less grew up without knowing his father at all.
The beginnings of Ash'eny were uneventful, his mother stayed home and fed him, his older sister did her own thing and left home at the age of sixteen, never heard from since. Very little of importance occurred about that time.
Best Friend, the Thief: When Ash'eny turned the age of eleven, he had made friends with the stereotypical type of person of Sunberth. There was a group of kids that took to harassing other kids, beating on the elderly and defenseless, and they took in Ash'eny as one of them. Ash'eny only joined for protection from them though, knowing that refusal would make him a target for the group. Within that group was what Ash'eny would call a saint. Tolby, a boy slightly older than himself, because Ash'eny's best friend and ally. Tolby taught Ash how to steal, fight, and survive. Yet he, unlike the rest of the boys, was not cruel or sadistic. Tolby did not hurt people for the pleasure of it, nor did he steal from those that needed more than he. It was these morals that Ash'eny looked up to, was proud to see, and later to obtain as his own. It was, in a sense, his light in the very dark world.
A Death in the Family: Tolby was not blood kin to Ash'eny, but he was viewed as Ash'eny's brother and only family. When Tolby was killed in a gang against gang conflict, Ash'eny's world spiraled into a dark abyss. His morals were replaced by rage as he sought revenge and blood for the crimes against his only true friend. Such a blow to Ash'eny's developing character would take a long time to mend. On the lighter side, however, it led Ash'eny to leave the gang without worry of his own safety. Freedom was acquired at the sacrifice of his best friend's life.
The Woman and the Daughter: Still in Sunberth, Ash'eny one day met a small child. A young girl of eight years old and went by the name of Manilla. She was a child miraculously unblemished by the Sunberth streets, and Ash'eny was drawn towards her. An awkward friendship was ignited as the girl brought Ash'eny to meet her mother, who was not nearly as charming and wonderful as the daughter. Mother and Ash'eny never did get to like each other, but Ash'eny found himself loving the girl, Manilla, so much that he asked for them to get together for her sake. Manilla's mother agreed (she was in need of help).

Spring, AV 512 - Ivak's Awakening, Ash'eny's Downfall Sometime during the Djed Storm caused by the return of Ivak, Ash'eny was exposed to the magical radiation and fallout. The results still seem quite minor, though his memories have almost entirely left him. All his items, his gear and mount and money, were lost in some event he cannot reclaim. Lastly, the Djed Storm has altered his mind slightly, causing him to see images of people who are not there. These images always appear in white and grays, featureless figures as if watched through heavily worn windows that had never been cleaned, and have no consciousness to the real world around them. Sometimes, Ash'eny sees himself, hints of memories altered, sometimes it's those he should remember, and knows this because of how they effect him emotionally, and usually they're all unknown people walking around minding their own business. Usually, these images are insignificant, though Ash'eny sometimes feels they are trying to show him something.
