The Mirror In Nyka's Celestial Square there exists a small, stout building. Monks of all four Celestials ring it, and anyone who wishes to enter must have the permission of its guards, or a note from another monk. The reason for this is what the structure houses. Going inside, one is greeted to a large, unadorned room made entirely of polished white marble. There are no chairs, tables, desks, bookshelves, or anything else inside other that two monks at the door. At the far end of the room is an old, ornate mirror shaped like a doorway with an elegantly curved top, large enough for a man to theoretically step through. Instead of glass, the mirror's surface ripples and shimmers like a pool of water, and staring at it can give one a sense of vertigo. The mirror shows no reflections. In case the lack of glass wasn't an indicator, it is no normal mirror. While the precise date of its creation has been lost to the fog of time, a few things are known for certain. The Mirror is magecrafted, and has been marked by Tanroa. Touching its surface will cause ones hand to stick to it. Five ticks later, the surface will crystallize into something akin to very clear ice, and one will see another person doing the exact same thing reflected in the Mirror. This is no illusion. It is a sentient being at another point in time. As long as both of the people touching the mirror keep their hands on its surface, they can converse freely as if separated by no more than a flimsy glass partition. Who exactly will appear on the other side appears to be decided completely at random. It could be another Nykan, an Alahean, a Protohuman, or someone from the future. There are also a few restrictions. If one attempts to say anything that would radically change history, the Mirror will not transmit their words. The person on the other side would see their mouth move, but no sound would come. Two people who simply cannot speak with each other without creating a time paradox will never see each other. Tanroa is no fool, and she will not endanger her realm by making the impossible happen. The monks of Nyka also do their part to protect the Mirror from abuse. Anyone is permitted inside, but they must state to the monks surrounding the Mirror's home exactly what they hope to do once inside. The two guards inside will ensure that the visitor keeps their word. Failure to do so will result in immediate expulsion. NPC :
