The Red Corridor The Red Corridor, otherwise known as the Beauty District, is a prestigious location for the city's high-end beauty needs. Most of Ahnatep's renowned hair stylists, cosmetologists, and perfumers have established their businesses in this pricy locale - a neighbourhood frequented by the gilded, the nobles, and the aspirational middle-class. The Red Corridor itself is an L-shaped laneway located near the ever-popular Street of Emeralds, and can be easily reached from the main road. As its name so aptly suggests, the ornate marble walls of the buildings lining the Red Corridor are painted an appealing shade of burnt sunset red. Elaborate engravings embellished with gold are carved into the walls, a subtle proclamation of the district's prosperity. A tiled, red marble path connects the district to the main street. The lane is wide enough to comfortably hold up to two eypharians side-by-side. In the connecting corner of the laneway is a wider space for socialization, containing two red benches and a small, makeshift garden of potted ivy plants. Many well-to-do eypharians consider their visits to the Red Corridor to be social events with family, friends, or lovers. It is not unusual to see Ahnatep's citizens making plans to spend an afternoon, or even an entire day, visiting the district. One of the most valuable perks that comes with the Corridor's hefty price tag is the gossip that is regularly exchanged between stylists and their clientele. This gossip has been known to touch on everything from the latest trend in hair ornaments to the latest Semhu sensation to the not-so-secret lives of the rich and famous. The area becomes particularly busy during wedding season and before (and after) any fashionable event. Occasionally, a child or two will show up in the Red Corridor to sell flowers to people entering and exiting the laneway. The boy or girl will usually be a non-eypharian unable to speak Arumenic, but sometimes an eypharian child does appear. These children tend to be quite pretty and are often neatly dressed despite their poverty. They sell Velvet Roses, a popular indulgence for affluent eypharians, out of woven baskets. Seasonal Goods Velvet Rose - 1 GM per flower (Only available for purchase during Spring, Summer, and Fall) Velvet Rose :
Name: Velvet Rose
Seasons: Typically begins to bloom mid-spring, and continues until the fall season. Appearance: Resembles the common rose with several key differences. Its petals are always coloured lavender and have a soft, fleecy texture to them. The thorns on the flower's long green stem enable it to soak up extra water, encouraging survival in the rough desert. The rose gives off a distinct floral scent with a hint of vanilla. Purposes: Valued primarily for aesthetic purposes. Perfumers also like to use the flower's essential oils in their fragrances. Clime: The Velvet Rose is an uncommon strain of rose native to the Eyktol region. Although it is hardier than roses indigenous to other regions of Mizahar, it can be found in only the most temperate Eyktolian environments (mainly oases). It has, however, been known to grow in the gardens of Ahnatep and Yahebah. Notable Locations
