33rd of Winter 512 AV
Aose gritted her teeth, cursing herself for not purchasing a coat prior to the start of Winter. It was frigid winds today and she had to run through the winding streets to some merchant's home. She was a messenger girl today, running the streets of Wind Reach in order to live. Everyone pulled in to do what was needed in order to survive, and Aose was no exception.
The ten year old started the run with gusto. Just keep moving, the more you stop Aose the colder you will get. The sooner you get moving and stay in motion your body will warm up. She glanced as the address written across the envelope and frowned, it wasn't far from where she was starting, just up and around the corner... It was just a really steep road leading up and she was not going to enjoy having to take it. The crowds were getting thicker and harder to run around, and this was causing the poor yasi girl to trip over her feet to try and keep moving upward.
She landed on the pathway with a thud, nearly losing her package. The young girl got up on her knees, gasping for air before she pulled herself up off the ground and started once more up the road, this time trying not to kill herself as she wove through the crowd of people. Stopping at a small stretch of flat terrain the Yasi placed both hands on her knees and took in huge gasping breaths.
At this rate, I am going to die from exhaustion before I can even deliver the package! |

Aose knew she needed to keep going, Bendi exercises were going to build her body up strong so she could become an Endal and fly with the eagles. Run! Run like the Wind! Imagine the Eagle underneath is taking you to locations far away! And so Aose ran hard once again.
The young girl's arms and legs pumped hard as she pushed herself to make the next crest without dying from the cold air. Her arms and legs burned with the fires of use, running up a mountain was something she hadn't ever done before. Her lungs were screaming for enough oxygen to keep pumping through her system, but all she could manage were gasps from time to time.
By the time she had reached halfway up this current stretch of hillside, the yasi was forced to slow her pace down to a jog, nearly a power walk. She couldn't keep up her running speed for long, especially not going up hill. At the second flat surface Aose came to she once more was leaning over, hands on knees gasping for air.
“I.Don't.Think.This.Is.Going.To.Work.” Each word was punctuated with large gasps of breaths
For the next few minutes Aose just sat there, gasping for oxygen as she tried not to pass out or fall over. The burning sensations in her legs and arms was slowly subsiding, but she was sure she wasn't going to be able to run the rest of the way. She looked up at the final upward run that plateaued and the merchant's house was right there.
A sigh of relief occurred and she couldn't help but smile. “Thank Ewyaat, I am almost there!” |

Aose's sigh of relief brought on a shiver of cold. It was freezing! Time to go! Once again the Yasi started up the incline before her, she could smell the completion of her current Bendi. She gritted her teeth, clenching them tightly together so that she wouldn't have to hear them chattering away.
Aose's lungs burned with the need for more oxygen, but the Yasi could only gulp in so much at a time at the pace she was keeping up currently. It was a jog to be honest, but her body was already aching, sore, and craving oxygen as it was. Nearly there... You keep this up and you'll be at the top of the last crest ready to take a breather and then go and deliver the message!
The inner encouragement made Aose pick up her speed a little, it was exertion beyond belief at this point. Her legs felt as if they were too heavy to life properly and she felt she was going to fall on her face. They burned with want, they ached something severe from the strenuous use Aose was putting them through.
Her arms kept pumping back and forth, pushing her upper body through the cold air. They also ached something fierce and were craving oxygen... But they were also freezing cold and in need of some sort of fur or a fire even. They were coated in the little bumps that skin gets when it gets cold and tries to keep warm.
The ten year old finally made it to the flat plateau that was her goal and slowed to walk before dropping to her rump at the the side of the road. Taking in heaving gasps of oxygen into her body the first thing that seemed to relax and remove the feeling of being consumed by flames was her lungs. Wrapping her arms around her knees and pulling her legs close to her body Aose did her best to keep warm.
Just a few minutes... Nothing more. Just relax Aose, breathe, rest... The guy's quarters is right... Aose looked around, she nearly panicked when she finally looked over her shoulder behind her and found her location. Breathing a sigh of relief the Yasi had to force her heart to stop racing before she stood up and strolled to the cave entrance.
“Hello?” She called in with no answer. Well, they never said I had to wait around for the person to show back up... Aose shrugged and placed the message on the ground, grabbing a small rock she spotted by the entrance way and placed it on the message so it wouldn't fly away.
Standing back up, dusting her hands and knees off the girl nodded at her accomplishment and started back down the three crests and plateaus in a leisurely walk. |
