A Guided Tour(Shiress)

Shiress leaned back as the food was placed on the table "Thank you" she said and gave a polite smile. The meal looked less than desirable to Shiress. She wished she'd have stopped by the registration office and snatched a couple cookies before she had made her way here, but not wanting to be rude, she picked up her utensil and placed a small bite in her mouth. It tasted a bit like carrots with a side of dirt. She forced a swallow and smiled weakly at Richard and began to answer his question.

"Since I rented the room at Travelers Row I've not been anywhere but to The Soothing Waters for Min to..." Shiress placed her hand on her thigh, feeling the bandage beneath her dress. Even to mention her wound brought a rush of dark memories to her mind. Although her memory was broken and a lot of the time she spent in The Bronze Woods she couldn't bring back to mind, but the bits of memory that she did have were utterly evil, but the one memory that was always easily summoned was the morning a young squire found her and gave of himself to ensure she was spared from the grip of death.

She looked over the table to Richard. She sat up straight with a smile trying to compose herself. She didn't want Richard knowing how much she struggled with her memories, nor did she want him to know that her memory was broken and much she didn't remember.

"Min changes the dressing's on my wounds" she continued as if the thought didn't bother her. A tall mug of ale was placed in front of her. She didn't have much experience with drinking ale, given a sip or three from her master's mug before she served it, but she very well knew the effects of it and the absurd joy it seemed to give to it's drinkers. " Oh, I could use this" she thought to herself as she grabbed the ale and pulled it to her mouth, draining half the mugs contents in one gulp. She placed the mug back to the table as she wiped a bit of ale from her top lip. She was filling a bit embarrassed but surprised that the ale didn't taste as bad as she remembered in Sunberth.

" I think a walk around the city would be nice, Richard" she said as she placed her hand over her mouth covering a belch. She smiled sweetly as Richard prepared another healthy size bite from his plate.Taking advantage of Richards momentary look away, she lifted the ale back to her mouth and drained the mug. "I'll forget about The Bronze Woods one way or the other even if it is just for today" she thought. She leaned over the table toward Richard and pointing to the empty mug said "May I have another one of those?"...

A Guided Tour(Shiress)

Postby Richard Burke on February 18th, 2013, 6:46 pm

Richard had finished his meal, just a Shiress finished her ale, and the Squire was surprised, he hoped the young woman could handle the ale. He looked at her plate, he guessed that the slow broiled stew was an acquired taste. “How long do you plan to stay in the city, now that your wounds are healed?”

He hoped she would want to make this city her home, there was a lot about this city that was nice, and while he wouldn’t say it out loud, he would be very happy to know that there was someone truly worth protecting inside the city.

Richard smiled when she asked for another, who was he to deny this woman, her ale. He raised his hand to get the serving girls attention, and she brought two more ales, even though Richard wasn’t done with his yet, he felt like this would be a busy night, and he was very thirsty from training.

A Guided Tour(Shiress)

Postby Shiress on February 19th, 2013, 3:04 pm

Shiress watched Richard as he took the last bite from his plate. His soft brown hair clung sporadically to his face by the days harsh training. His imposing hazel color eyes gave a slight glimmer as they caught the light escaping the table lantern. Shiress glanced away as Richard looked up from the table. She quickly turned away hoping her stare went unnoticed.

“How long do you plan to stay in the city, now that your wounds are healed?” he asked softly as he pushed his plate to the center of the table. "I don't...I really do want to stay" she answered, looking back to him "I don't have a home and I don't desire to return to Zeltiva" Shiress lowered her head. Zeltiva once had been her home. Her and her Brother had grown up there, played endless childhood games near the dock as their father worked and mother looked on in laughter.

That life ended with a single journey. A single, mysterious trip that forever changed her life and she didn't even know why her parents made the journey to, of all places, Sunberth in the first place. This deeply haunted Shiress and the memory of her childhood filled her heart with sorrow. Shiress could feel the deep void in her chest grow as she sat staring at her hands that lay in her lap. With a deep breath, she fought back the memory and recomposed herself, looking back to Richard a smile eased across her face. "Yes, I hope to stay here and call Syliras my home" she said.

With a wave of Richards arm, another set of ale was placed on the table. As Richard reached for his mug, Shiress did the same. She waited for Richard to begin drinking and as soon as he had, she drew in a deep breath, held it and drained half her mug again in one long gulp. She placed the mug back to the table and watched as Richard became a little more blurred and unfocused.

"What..where" she cleared her throat and began again "Is Syliras your home?" she asked, clearing her throat again, attempting to keep the beginning effects the ale was having on her from Richards notice...

A Guided Tour(Shiress)

Richard sipped on his ale, he wouldn’t drink much more, he had training everyday, and going to one with the pains of a hangover would probably get the squire a beating. Such was the price the knights paid to the people of Syliras, the little sacrifices the knights made so that the people of the city didn’t have to, many even gave their lives so the peaceful citizens didn’t have to wake up, and go to war. The young squire smiled at Shiress, she was just one of fifty- thousand people in the city, but it was his company that he enjoyed the most, out of all the other people in the city.

So, he watched her drink ale heartily, and smiled, listening to her answer, he was glad that she decided to stay in the city, it was the best city in the entire region, she looked to be enjoying herself, and it was sort of amusing to the squire, watching the young woman drink too much. She seemed to be inhaling the ale, and it was getting to her, maybe he should cut her off before she drink too much. “I’ve lived in Syliras my entire life. And my parents for theirs, and their parents before them. I come from a long line of knights.”

He didn’t know how far back his family stretched inside the knights, and he certainly didn’t have any famous grandmasters related to him- he wasn’t a first wing family, no his family was one of the later ones to join the order, and help the Dyres in their own loyal way. Richard was loyal too, he had never faltered in his duty, and he vowed that he never would, and right now, his duty was to this woman, to see that she was making the city a home, and that the world would let her live in peace, and if the world wouldn’t, then Richard would carve out a little peace for her.

A Guided Tour(Shiress)

Postby Shiress on February 21st, 2013, 1:56 pm

She watched Richard as he sipped his ale. She too was nursing her ale but it was nearly drained. He looked lost in thought, so Shiress stayed quiet taking a couple a bites from her plate. She wondered what had consumed Richards thoughts so much that he fell quiet while he pondered them.

She shifted around in her chair as she tugged at the collar of her dress. She was beginning to feel quite warm. She shoved the sleeves of her dress up to her elbows and unbuttoned her collar. She pushed her long hair from her neck and shoulders and positioned it nicely as it fell down her back. A glance back at Richard caught her off guard because he too was looking at her. She straightened herself in her chair as he smiled.

“I’ve lived in Syliras my entire life. And my parents for theirs, and their parents before them. I come from a long line of knights.” he said as he cleared a spot from the table in front of him. Shiress didn't hear a word he said or maybe she heard him, but at that very minute she didn't care. She just would have settled to just sit there and stare into his beautiful hazel eyes, his handsome dirty face and messy brown hair.

Her elbows were propped up on the table, her chin resting on clasped fingers. A strange sense of confidence was stewing inside her chest. Her mind was swirling around with thoughts of Richard, what he had done for her and how she felt for him. The more she looked at him the more these feeling's grew inside her.
