Anger, As Soon As Fed - Is Dead

Postby Ricky Maze on February 21st, 2013, 4:48 pm

The woman seemed to mumble something at first, then she went into a ramble that led on to some sort of occupying fit. Her fists were firm and her posture seemed tense, as though she were physically a statue, except for one other thing Ricky happened to notice. Her eyes searched all around for something, as if her mind became completely occupied in finding an important thing.

This went on for a few chimes before Ricky could finally react, mostly because he was baffled and didn't know what to say or think. It was clear he should at least try to bring her back to reality. Otherwise there was no telling what the woman would say or think soon after, and clearly just simply leaving was out of the question.

"Ma'am." When he spoke it was low so only she would hear, but he wasn't sure whether she did hear him. So again he tried to get her attention, this time a tad bit louder than before. "Ma'am. Are ye okay?"

Anger, As Soon As Fed - Is Dead

Postby Philomena on February 22nd, 2013, 4:44 am

She starts, and inhales with a sudden gasp, her eyes looking bewildered, "I... yes... I... I'm sorry. Its nothing. Nothing. I'm fine, yes. Its nothing."

She looks now with a queer intensity at the sword, and shakes her head, as if trying to remove a loose thought.

Minnies hands part now, and one moves to her throat, to grip at the seam of her neck in a childish, compulsive way. The other hand absently moves to the opposite wrist, her ink-stained pointer finger extending to draw long strokes across her wrist. The pattern is not random. Letters? A picture? Close observation could divine, perhaps, but then, it would involve staring at the woman's breast to do so.

"Do they... you... the guard, have any leads, then? They must... have some leads? You are... investigating?"

"Do they... you... the guard, have any leads, then? They must... have some leads? You are... investigating?" She was almost frantic now, some sort of instinctual reaction seemed to take over; either that or she was headed into a crazed state of panic he needed to help her out of.

"We're lookin into it ma'am. We'll find the bastard, that I promise ya." He took a step toward her but made sure to keep the side his sword was on the furthest from the woman. "Ma'am are ya sure yer okay? I'm here to protect ya from any danger, if there's anythin ye need to share." He was sincere and concerned, worried about the fact she could freak out at any moment. There was never any good of someone panicking out in public, and Ricky wanted to do the best he could to provide safety to the people. Especially this woman, who now seemed gripped by a fear he didn't know of.

Anger, As Soon As Fed - Is Dead

The women grips the spot on her neckline now with a nearly deathlike grip, and nods, her voice softening, and loosening, falling into a mild sing-song brogue, more reminiscent of the docks. The difference is subtle, but noticeable.

"Aye... you'll keep looking, you Guards, you'll find her eventually... she can't hide forever," her brow creases, slightly, not in relief, in something more undecided, and unhappy, but she shakes her head, closes and reopens her eyes, and looks back at the man, "An' you'll be killin' 'er when you do find er, right?"

Her voice shakes slightly at this last, her eyes obviously a little confused, her finger still tracing long, swooping letters against her wrist.

"Aye... you'll keep looking, you Guards, you'll find her eventually... she can't hide forever," Ricky's eyebrow raised a bit, "An' you'll be killin' 'er when you do find er, right?" Her? Did the woman believe a female to be the murderer? It was possible, but not probable. To have strung up a man to a tree the way Kip was it would've taken more than just a woman to pull that off.

"Aye ma'am. We will find the murderer, whether it be a him or her we'll find em. They'll get the punishment they deserve for it too." He assured her as he turned to leave, oh how he wanted to say those words. The very words "I'll gut the bastard myself" longed to come out, but it wasn't his place to take anothers life; not when we have a punishment system here in Zeltiva. Regardless of what he thought the murderer would indeed get what he deserved, one way or another they would find him.

"If ye ever need support from the guard or have any concerns, ye can count on me ma'am. Ricky Maze. I'm here to keep everyone safe." He reassured her once more, and then he headed home.

Anger, As Soon As Fed - Is Dead

Postby Philomena on February 25th, 2013, 6:20 pm

The anger in the man's voice crawls into Minnie's heart and makes it shudder. She sighs, and shakes her head slightly, closing her eyes again. Perhaps its merely the thought of violence - though its not as if a woman with a low-class accent would have never seen a good drubbing even in the 'enlightened' city of Zeltiva. Perhaps its just the thought of the awful crime.

At any rate she opens them again, then her lips, but does not speak right away, her brain fruitlessly searching for a gear to engage. The man turns away, and she finally finds one - commonplace good courtesy. She murmurs softly, absently, "Dr. Lefting of the West Wing. A pleasure to... meet you."

But he is gone, and seh is staring at the dregs of the street theatre. On the stage now, the figure of Death stands on a high pedestal - an armchair in actuality, but that's the magic of theater. The other actors but for narrator lay on the floor dead. The narrator intones the closing.

"The goblet of pestilence -
Is filled with a rich, bitter wine.
Is full deep and wide.
Come, drink, good people -
There is enough for all."

The crowd has mostly dispersed already before the play even ends. Minnie, her eyes wide and mechanical, goes up and throws a few copper mizas to the players, then turns, to head to the library.

Your Ledger is not up to date, please PM me once you have made the corrections and I will give you your grade. :)

Notes :
I thought this was an interesting thread handling the aftermath of a murder in the Waveguard, as well as outlining the chaos Wren's plague caused. I also enjoyed Minnie's little quirks here. :)

If you have any comments/questions/concerns about your grade please PM me and we will work something out.

Keep on writing!
