Day 55, Winter of 512 AV
Arcane Wonderland, The Kabrin Road, Wildlands of Sylira
Eridanus stared at the letter speechless. It had been sent to him earlier that day, though he was not there to personally receive it. Was she sending this from Mura? How then did the letter reach here so quickly?
Wait why am I focusing on the useless questions?
The thing was, why was she doing this? Unknowingly, he had allowed the konti deeper into his thoughts and feelings ever since that strange event at the campsite that somehow showed them both their entwined destiny and fate throughout the multiple lives they had. The fact that they had been together since she sought him out in Alvadas had cemented her position as one who was always with him. It was therefore with reluctance that he sent her off to Mura in order to avoid or postpone a troublesome fate that the knight Imass had demanded upon her with the full weight of the organization of the Syliran Knights.
It was in confidence that he did so, for he knew that she would return to him. For that was her Call, and that was her fate, as was his. As were theirs for the multitudes of past lives, and would be so for the next lives if Lhex permits. Any separation was merely temporary. But this- this was a permanent one.
Eridanus felt betrayed.
But.
But just maybe.
But perhaps, this was a letter written on impulse. Written against her will. Yes, that must be it. He had seen her subservience before Imass. The Knights ruled by dominance, and he knew how she could not possibly stand a chance. As with most men, for who dared to stand against the Knights as individuals?
He was the only one who dared to do so, because he had the power to back himself up. Throw ten knights, a hundred knights at him, and all would have fallen, swept aside with his rage like tiny insects.
This event and this thoughts would take seed in Eridanus, further making him believe that power was the solution to all problems. For mortals only listened to power, and sought to assert power on everyone else. Power held dominance, and power thus was capable of changing the world. And changing fate. But that was the future, so let us - dear reader - focus on the present.
The ethaefal took a moment to calm himself as he re-read the letter several times, each time becoming more convinced that she was being forced to do so. If she was on her way to Syliras from Mura, that meant that she would have to pass by Sunberth. It meant that he could cut her off there.
That's right, intercept her before she gets into Syliras and becomes forever out of reach. Any knights with her will not be shown any mercy if they choose to continue holding her hostage.
There was only a calm, passionate rage in his eyes as he folded the note carefully and replaced it in his robes, heading to pack his things for the voyage ahead.

Dear Eridanus,
Matters did not turn out as I anticipated. I believe that it would be safer and more reasonable for me to aid the cause of the Knights. I am afraid of what might happen if I attempt to go against them—the consequences might even befall your guild, and that is not something I would want. At this point, I think it would simply be a better idea to comply. It would not be worth risking so much just because of my own selfishness.
All this has upset me greatly, especially since I have thought for a very long time now that fate wanted me to aide you. Not just in this lifetime, just as we both saw. It was not just fate and duty for me, it felt right to be by your side. I do not understand why this is happened, but I suppose I may have read the signs incorrectly.
As difficult as it is to write this, I believe this is the last time you will be hearing from me for a long time, if not forever. It is important that I focus all my attention to Syliras, and I would not want them to otherwise think that I have doubts about this decision.
With love,
Nira’lia
