Agathon was sitting on the docks, looking at the night sky. It was chilly but the view of the sky and the reflection of the moon in the sea where making up for it. It was the first time that he had gone out without his hood on his head, for he wasn't out to pickpocket, break in houses or practice larceny in any way. No, today he just wanted to think. His head was filled up with a bunch of depressing thoughts, like why did he end up with such parents? Why in Sunberth? Did the gods hate him that much?

And that was nothing compared to the fact that he didn't have any real friends for the past ten years.. Right! Ten years without having had a friendly chat, a long discussion, or any kind of talk. Yes, he was alone and alone he would stay. Every day seemed more tiring than the last one. He was getting tired of his life, he just wanted to leave..Yes, away from this awful city! Get a real job in Syliras, or maybe Zeltiva. No, he didn't have money to travel all that way. Besides, all he knew how to do was steal. That's how he grew up, there was no way he would be able to change it.

Drunkards were passing behind him all the time, singing songs about booze, fighting and women. ''What an unusual setting for Sunberth'' he thought to himself. ''One can never have enough of this city...''

Days like these Agathon just wanted to escape reality, in any way possible. He just wanted to break free from these thoughts, just forget about what's troubling him. And tonight, he wanted to find some Pulp. Yes, when everything else failed to make him forget, he would just get lost in the hallucinations created by Pulp. When he smoked it he forgot about all of his worries, about all of his problems. Everything would become colorful and meaningful. His whole life would not be a huge failure, but would suddenly seem as the most amazing life anyone could have. Yes..Such was the effect of pulp for Agathon and that was why he was in such need to find some.

So he walked around the docks, hoping to fall on some kind of black market merchant and maybe if, he was lucky enough he would get his hands on some pulp.

Escape (Thundiirn)

Postby Thundiirn on February 21st, 2013, 1:28 am

OOCBtw heads up I'm a Nuit in this thread. The thread that happened in hasn't been completed yet so it's not my official race on my profile yet, but that thread is dated the 8th so I'll be a Nuit at this time

It was a nice night out. Chilly, but it wasn't like he was going to get frostbite. His cells were already dead. He walked through the Seaside Market, searching for a vendor whose clothes didn't have too many knife holes and blood stains in them.

"How much for the cloak?" he asked the vendor, rummaging around through bins of clothing. The vendor eyed him suspiciously, and refused to speak, which sadly had become all too common of an occurrence since the change. Most people were suspicious, but polite. Not this one though, and there were enough like him that Thundiirn was already quite used to it. He dropped it, somewhat irritated, and took his business elsewhere.

The next vendor with clothing looked friendlier. She was a heavyset woman, missing a tooth and tucking her long, dirty hair back with a bandanna.
"Good evening, ma'am, I hope I find you well? He started the conversation with this, hoping his friendlyness would win out over any suspicion she might have. It did.
"Jest fine, deerie. Watchoo lookin fer?"
"Just a pair of gloves, if you could be so kind," was the retort. He was sick at looking at the skin, having to think about the fact that it slowly rotted as he watched. And this would protect them a bit from the elements, and hopefully slow the process down even if negligibly.

She began picking thoughtfully at the gap in her teeth with her pinky finger, and cogs were clearly turning. Then, having reached a decision, she reached down under her stall, rummaging around a bit. When she came up, a pair of heavily worn black leather gloves were on her hands.

"Whad bout dees?!" She croaked at him. Thundy smiled. "Ma'am, those would be just what I was looking for. How much do you want for them?"

"1 GM" He smiled, as if to say "are you joking?".
"5 silver"
"8 silver and no lower! Dees were me kids!"
Thundiirn seriously doubted that, but nevertheless his job had turned out surprisingly profitable recently so he supposed he could afford to be a little charitable. He flipped her a gold-rimmed miza, much to her clear surprise, put on the ratty gloves, and continued along his walk, apparently heading down to the docks.

Escape (Thundiirn)

Postby Agathon Minorium on February 21st, 2013, 6:20 pm

The cold air strack Agathon's face one more time before he decided to start walking in the market once again. As it was getting late, less people were walking around at that part of the city. The taverns, though, were full of people. Not like they were empty at any time of the day anyway... The cold distracted him from his thoughts for a while. He rubbed his hands together in an attempt to warm them up, but it didn't work.''I have to buy some proper clothing...'' he thought to himself and continued walking at the same direction.

And while he was walking, he saw something rather unusual. A grim figure, a person that seemed more dead than alive...Was he sick maybe? He had never seen anything like that before in his life. He decided to follow the lifeless looking man, as he had completely grabbed his attention. He started walking behind him silently, making sure that he would not be heard. The man walked down to the docks, where Agathon was previously sitting. He really wanted to approach that person, but wasn't sure if it was the right thing to do. You can never be too sure who you're dealing with in Sunberth, and even though he looked sick and lifeless you could never know what to expect.

After thinking about it for a couple of minutes, he walked down to the docks and stoof a couple of meters away from him. ''Don't you love this place? The view never..ceases to amaze me.'' and that was his attempt to start a conversation with a person that he had never met before. His skills with people were truly a disgrace. He wouldn't even be surprised if they other person would just turn around and leave without saying a single word.

He looked at the vast sea. How scary it was, especially at night. The dark sky reflected on it, making it look like there was nothing. Yes, nothing. It made him think about his future and what he would end up like. Most likely somebody would eventually notice him and send him to meet his maker. Nobody would remember him...Nobody would know that he had died. He would just be...nothing.

''And it always makes me think about...unpleasant stuff.''

Escape (Thundiirn)

Postby Thundiirn on February 27th, 2013, 4:36 am

The salt water was not good for his skin, but he still enjoyed the docks. Besides, it wasn't like he was coming every day, it was his first visit since the change. Surely one time couldn't hurt, so long as the water itself didn't come too close.

There weren't many around by the standards of this time a day, but a few still lingered. He figured they probably weren't here to watch the rise of the moon like him. They all were bustling around and, it looked like, preparing to set sail.

Except for one.

One man approached, not 5 meters from him, and sat down as well.
"Don't you love this place? The view never..ceases to amaze me." Thundiirn turned to him, confused and not quite certain that he was meant to be the recipient of this statement. Did he know this person? Either he knew the man, and was failing to recall his face, or the guy was just looking to strike up a conversation with a stranger. The man continued.

"And it always makes me think about...unpleasant stuff." Eh? That sounded more interesting. Unpleasant stuff was almost certainly more fun than typical stuff.

"Well, it is the night time. Unpleasant things tend to crawl out of the gutter when the moon rises. Why don't you tell me about the things that creep and crawl in YOUR life, sir?"

Escape (Thundiirn)

Postby Agathon Minorium on February 27th, 2013, 8:20 pm

The vividless looking person didn't take time to reply in Agathon's comment. It looked like he was interested in the unpleasant things going on in Agathon's life.''A pretty gloomy figure with a prety gloomy mind.'' Agathon thought to himself. He had managed to draw the stranger's attention, but he did not want to talk about himself, he wanted to find out more about the weird looking individual that was standing a few meters away from him. He turned around and looked at him.

''Trust me, there's nothing interesting or strange going on in my life...But you..You don't look normal. What are you?'' he walked a bit closer so that he could get a better look at his visage but the night sky made it impossible for him to see clearly, something that made him even more curious. He looked back to the sea. ''Or maybe you don't want anyone to find out..''that wouldn't be weird, especially in this city and there are even cases when you just don't even want to know what the other person might be. Agathon wouldn't continue bugging him if he didn't seem like he wanted to talk more, it was far too risky to talk with someone that he had never met before, especially with such a mysterious individual. He moved a bit back again and added. ''I hope i'm not ruinning your view of the sea...'' he looked back at the man and smiled.

Escape (Thundiirn)

Postby Thundiirn on March 1st, 2013, 2:14 am

"Trust me, there's nothing interesting or strange going on in my life...But you..You don't look normal. What are you?"

A flicker of annoyance crossed Thundiirn's face. What kind of person just came out and asked such blatant questions? Not one that wanted to live long, that was for sure. And he was so self-deprecating. It was pathetic, he already wished he hadn't replied, had either ignored the man or just stood up and walked away. Regardless, the past was past. He stayed silent now.

"'Or maybe you don't want anyone to find out.."
Ah, he realizes his mistake. Perhaps there is hope for this one after all. Though he'd still be dead if I was any number of other people in this city.

Still, it could always pay to be friendly. People were way more likely to give you what you wanted if you were friendly, and who knew when you'd want something from someone?

"I hope i'm not ruinning your view of the sea..." The man ended awkwardly with a small smile, which Thundiirn made an effort to return.

"Not at all, not at all. Tell me, what can I do for you? Clearly you came to speak to me for a reason, or at least I'd imagine you would. People don't tend to talk to one such as I without reason."

Escape (Thundiirn)

Postby Agathon Minorium on March 3rd, 2013, 1:26 am

The person didn't seem like he wanted to talk about himself at all. He actually seemed like he got a bit frustrated from Agathon's rude questions. His social skills were just awful and therefore he couldn't understand what he was supposed to say or whether a question was appropriate or not. It was one of the few people he had decided to talk to for a long time and he just said what came in his mind.

''Well, you can't do much for me...Unless you have some pulp!'' he really doubted the fact that the man would actually have some. He looked like some kind of merchant from another city. He was far too civilized to be from Sunberth. ''I guess I'd like to just disappear from this world for a little bit...'' he looked at the ground. He was surely not proud of himself. He wasn't strong enough to deal with his problems anymore and for that reason he had resorted to drugs. In actual fact, he was just ashamed of both his desire to smoke some pulp and of the thing that he had just said to the man who he had just met.

Escape (Thundiirn)

Postby Thundiirn on March 3rd, 2013, 3:21 am

At the man's words, Thundiirn finally took pity on him. He knew the feeling well. He also knew that such vices could sometimes be a better distraction than any other, except perhaps for the presence of a loved one. But Thundiirn didn't need to look around to know that no such person was currently present for this man.

Could Thundiirn provide an escape? Most probably. The real question was whether or not he should. He knew next to nothing about this man. Of course that meant nothing if it was business.
If the price is right... Thundiirn thought to himself with a quiet, but audible sigh. If the man had heard it, he'd probably take it for rudeness. It had slipped out without thinking though, couldn't take it back now.
Ah, well. If I'm to do this man a favor he can put up with my moods.

"Look, my name is Thundiirn. I live in the Sunset Quarters, come track me down if I rip you off. I ain't trying to or anything though, I got standards. But if I pick up some for ya I'm gonna need the money up front to go get it, and you won't be able to come with me. I swear on my word, I'll come back shortly with either some Pulp or, if I can't find any, your money back. That's my deal for ya. Take it or leave it."

He was satisfied with this offer. If the man, who hadn't even provided his name yet he now realized, declined, Thundiirn didn't really lose anything. In fact, he wouldn't have to waste his time being nice and trying to help a troubled soul. If the man accepted, he'd likely be able to swindle a few coin out of him in the process, maybe even get some free Pulp for his efforts. Or, if he was feeling particularly mean, just walk off with everything. Good thing for the bloke he was feeling nice tonight, and wouldn't do that.

He could also see the desperation for this deal to work in the man's eyes. Sure, with the average Sunberthian this would be a plainly foolish deal to take on the man's part, but desperation for release tended to make people illogical and careless. He felt there was a good chance the man would agree. Thundiirn was selling hope as much as he was selling plants, and people were willing to do quite foolish things when hope was involved.

Escape (Thundiirn)

Postby Agathon Minorium on March 4th, 2013, 10:13 pm

He looked at the stranger astonished. He truly did not believe that the stranger would be able to get some pulp, he had only said it because that was the only thing in his mind for the whole day. He looked and him without managing to say a word. At the beginning he was trying to process what the other person (apparently called Thundiirn) told him. And when he understood what he had just said, he thought about the danger that this deal might hold. Thundiirn could just his money and run away...But he didn't look like he would.

He actually looked like he kind off understood Agathon's strong desire to just get away from the world for a while, like he had been in his place as well, or maybe he still was. ''Nice to meet you Thundiirn. My name is Agathon.'' his akward smile slowly turned into a serious face. ''I hope you're an honest man Thundiirn, because i will not track you if you do not come back. But in my state, i cannot decline your offer. How much do you want?'' he said as he put his hand in his pocket.

Escape (Thundiirn)

Postby Thundiirn on March 8th, 2013, 6:14 pm

OOCYes, Sunberth citizens use Pulp leaves as their unit of measurement for the stuff :) Also sorry this post is so short, I figured I should let you agree to the price first before I ran off on ya and wasn't sure what else to say until then

His face became scrunched up in thought for a moment at the words, "How much do you want?"

Well, that all depended how much Pulp he wanted. He looked like he'd done it before so he'd probably need quite a few to be satisfied. Maybe five or six?

And the price around this time of year was usually 5 silver a leaf for decent stuff. Hmmmm... How much did he need?

The answer to that would of course be 2.5-3 gold, but that wasn't the question. The question had been how much he WANTED. What was the harm of profiting a little bit upon his own good nature?

"I'll need 4 gold ta get a decent amount. You got that much to spare?" the Nuit asked, holding out a hand as though he already knew the answer was "yes".
