The building is small and unassuming, with a domed roof and two columns standing sentinel on either side of the iron-ornamented door. Inside however, the circular room seems to sparkle like a massive gem. Immediately next to the door is an Akalak guard, Arikamiss, invariably reading a book. Against the far wall is a door, behind a long, glass encased counter. Along all other wall space are tables and desks, each bearing polished branches set in square, wooden bases. Upon each branch is a piece of jewelry, pinned in place and dangling freely. Necklaces, bracelets, rings; any kind of jeweled item can be found on one of the desks. Jeweled trinkets stand around the bases of the branches, as well as several small mirrors. Close to the door are the copper confections, often larger items as well, such as embossed belts and armbands. Silver items can be found in the center of the room, and the gold is along the far side. The choicest pieces are kept inside the glass case desk along the far wall, and require Sumithal to open it. The shop is only open during the day time, and as soon as the sun sets, the heavy door is barred securely. Sumithal’s pet yowlwings, Fuffa and Furfur, prowl the store at night for added security. It is rumored through Riverfall’s underground that the pair are part night lion, for their jet black fur make them almost invisible in the darkness, and the long fur around their necks puffs up like manes. Would-be thieves may initially break in, thinking they are free to take what they like, but the moment their fingers touch any piece of jewelry, they’ll find deep claws sinking into the side of their faces, and a pair of unnaturally loud howls awakening Sumithal upstairs. On rare occasion will Fuffa and Furfur deign to grace the shop during the day, but will make perfectly clear when necessary that pets and coos are not permitted. Sumithal and Nakaris

As a grown man, he may not be as large as other Akalaks, but his gifts lie in his hands. Lean arms taper down into long, dexterous hands and fingers, with neat nails and only lightly calloused palms. He returned to Riverfall in 501 from the trading posts of Sultros, where he studied the Isur, as closely as an outsider could, and brought his knowledge back to his homeland. Though he realizes his skills are nowhere near that of the Isur, what little knowledge he gleaned was valuable, and his diligence in learning caught the attention of Izurdin, who blessed him with a mark. Sumithal is usually the personality displayed in front of customers, while Nakaris takes over during the work of crafting. Both halves have a deep appreciation of the beauty of gems and precious metals, though Sumithal loves to share his love with anyone who walks in, and Nakaris just wishes everyone would go away so they could concentrate on perfecting their work. Despite his massive build and intimidating demeanor, he considers himself an intellectual, and is rarely seen without seen without a book on politics or philosophy. His family continually pushes him to vie for the Council when a spot opens, but he has refused for decades. Personally, he is extremely soft-spoken, to the point of being considered antisocial. Both halfs of his personality have long since found a good balance, and while both enjoy the philosophy that occupies their time, Akarcha is a severe cynic. Arikamiss has previously admitted to having long, existential, mental conversations with Akarcha while minding the door to Beautiful Things. Arikamiss’s one open soft spot is for Fuffa and Furfur.
