Ending a Post..?

I have a thread that hasn't been responded to by my partner in months. I want to end it and begin a new post. I know there needs to be some transitions, which won't be a problem, I just want to make sure I do this the right way. Are there any tips or specific things I need to take care of to do this? Thanks! :)

If the other player is gone, I say finish it up as a solo and turn it in. I have done that before with threads.
