Zuriel
Physical Description:
A young male Zith, born in the autumn of 501 AV he has just entered adulthood and finished growing. At the age of 11 he stands 6 feet high and is toned but not particularly broad, weighing less than 70kg.
His fur is ruddy brown with redder tufts on his elbows, knees and ankles. The membrane on his wings is also ruddy in colour and glows very red when light shines through.
All visible teeth (incisors, canines and bicuspids) are elongated for a heavily carnivorous diet which can give a fearsome look to his wicked grin.
His eyes are reddish with vertical pupils and although these pupils can tighten very slim, they still cannot block out near enough light to make seeing in the day particularly comfortable.
Character Concept:
Zuriel is extremely curious, even as a pup he was constantly listening in on the family slaves, learning common alongside his races signature ultra/subsonic speech. His curiosity drives him above all else and if someone is boring, they are only worth one thing to him... food.
Zuriel has no qualms about killing sentient beings and although his curiosity can cause him to befriend much easier than other zith it can also drive him to wonder how palatable a newly discovered race is. (He views most creatures as potential prey and sentient beings as worthy game.) One of the more peculiar features of his personality is that he is inclined to see powerful warriors and mages as fellow predators and shows respect for these beings. Intelligent and interesting scholars he finds acceptable as he fully understands the driving capacity of passion and curiosity. However if they become boring or useless he will only see them as such.
Having grown amongst other races as he did he sees new people in a completely neutral light, judging them for their levels of threat, usefullness and of course how interesting they are. The only exception to this is the Akalak race, of which every member he has ever met has attempted to murder him on sight.
Zuriels views on the Akalak race :
Zuriel has spent as much of his life separated from the zith as with them, his own colony was the first he saw destroyed as the drakes had attempted to take out the hunter's who caught him and other colonies have treated him with open hostility. Because of this he feels estranged from the zith which causes him to be much more open to friendship with other races. A friendship however, will only bloom if the other being is more interesting or useful alive than dead to him and then they must earn his trust, a separate issue entirely. Zuriel has found no reason to trust anyone he has met since being taken from his colony and can often be found chattering to the only trustworthy company he has (himself) in zith (though only other zith would be capable of hearing it). If he does form a trusting bond with a companion though he would defend them as a normal Zith would his own family. To the bloody end...
On the other side of the coin if a being is a threat, or is more interesting or useful in a state of discomfort or death, He has no qualms in making them so. He will find and exploit his enemies weaknesses mercilessly and when it does come to enemies, as with everything else he values information above all. Nothing, including torture is below him as far as morals go, however torture stirs up the acid in lean tissue and causes good meat to become tough, making him reluctant to perform torture unless his other priorities are (at the time) above his desire for tender meat.
Character History:
When Zuriel and his brother were a few seasons old his mother started taking them out on her hunts for small game, while they clung to her back she showed them the ropes. They learned to use their amazing hearing and night vision to their advantage. By almost three years of age they were quite adept at hunting by themselves, birds, hares and even young swine and small deer were on the menu. Their mother had watched over them closely during their hunts of course, giving them tips and scolding them when their technique was bad. She also kept them safe from the ever larger prey they sought out to test their limits. They were naturals, and their mother soon passed them on to the males of the colony to show them what a real hunt was, one that would bring home food for the entire family.

Account of the incident :
Zuriel was six when he was captured by a group of zith-hunters and held as an "early warning system" for when other zith were approaching. The experience reshaped his life drastically as he was held prisoner for four years while he grew into an adult. Escaping before he turned 11 he has been “free” since early spring 512. However, having escaped into the cyphrus wilds to live without a colony is anything but a comfortable environment. The drykas are capable of tracking just about your every move when on the ground and the akalak race bears a strong hatred for zith along with the ability to see extensively in the dark. Aside from the other races though the sea of grass bears its own share of terrors and is no place for a lone zith, causing a brutal lifestyle of eat or be eaten.
